Were there any moments throughout the ME series that had you cringing?

Honestly, Donovan Hock's accent was so awful. Definitely made me cringe.

Also, the romance scenes with Traynor and femshep were kinda awkward and idk

There might have been more, but I can't think of any at the moment.

Shepard expressing surprise that Asari can reproduce with their own species. Though to be fair, that dialogue choice is optional...

 

Shepard's moronic autodialogue at the opening of ME3. "This isn't about strategy or tactics! We fight or we die! That's the plan!" That's not a plan, and who wrote that ****?

Pretty much the entirety of ME3 (some exceptions include the genophage and geth/quarian stuff like Mordin's death or Wrex finding out if you sabotaged the cure).

Citadel. All of it. Some of it charmingly cringe-worthy and some just outright awful.

Liara, Sam, and Cortez's entire characters.

The Asari as a race.

And "reaper" is said so often that I've come to hate it.

Those are just off the top of my head.

I wanted my Shepard to laugh and tell her own joke. What bothered me is Shepard can yell at Joker, but can't yell at the asari for getting in Javik's face for no reason. What happens? The player gets some pathetic paragon interrupt. Of course the player can ignore it if he/she wants.

 

That whole Thessia thing was crap. The moment the asari says, Shepard that's my home, I have to go, until Shepard gets back to the CIC and uses the galaxy map to head to wherever.

Me3's an easy target, so instead I'll go with the VS reuniting in ME2. This is a scene done just from pure drama and nothing of reason or substance. From the responses which are all designed to make it sound like I'm full on Cerberus, to the VS being written to be pissed at us no matter what. The whole interaction came off as unnatural, and done just to stoke the fires of soap oprea writing.

Not the worst one, but it's carved in my head forever, just hated the whole scene in general (cringe worthiness or not).

 

But that Kai Leng impaling Thane scene, it's what follows with Shepard that cringed the heck out of me:

 

* Kai Leng impales Thane *

Shepard: " Thane! "

* Shepard pursues Kai Leng a moment *

* Kai Leng escapes, Shepard can't aim anymore, Thane just catching up on them, collapsing against a wall nearby *

* Shepard turns around, runs to Thane *

Shepard: " How bad is it? "

Thane: " I have time. Catch him. "

Shepard: " Oh, okay, yeah I can do that. "

Commander Bailey: " Shepard, what's going on up there? "

Shepard: " Just having fun with my bud Thane! * taps Thane on a shoulder, Thane reacts painfully * ...and hummm... wait, actually, I think that Thane is going to need some medical attention. "

 

How bad is it. HOW. BAD. IS. IT.

 

It's nothing Shepard, just a Katana going through a terminally-ill Drell.

 

Not much would have been needed to remove the cringy part. Just let Shepard yell "Thane!", continue the pursue scene as is (even though I hated it all, but whatever, this is just for the sake of the discussion), entirely skip the stupid question Shepard had in mind, have him run to Thane and upon getting close enough have him contact Bailey instead to ask for immediate medical assistance. Then, have the camera focusing on Thane while he looks up at Shepard just telling him to "Catch him", and that's about it, no? No it's not. Nothing is ever simple.
