1. On my current play through I am trying to romance Isabela, but she didn't come to hawke's estate after Questioning Beliefs. (Maybe because there was one flirt option in "Isabela's Ongoing Search" that I didn't use? The one where you ask her for a kiss in exchange for helping. Like, in my head they're sexy banter friends - the flirt line in her gift quest (about an orgy) struck me as teasing - but this option seemed unfair to me - like, 'will you kiss me if I do this thing I already promised I'd do. lol.' So I bypassed it. But I've used every other flirt option, including in Questioning Beliefs.) Is there still a chance to start this romance, later in act 2 or in act 3? Or have I missed it?

2. So hawke was also flirting with Fenris, but she did the broken-heart option in his Questioning Beliefs (as a side note, that was the most graceful/cool acceptance. Super great, I didn't feel like a monster! When I accidentally had to break merrill's heart in another play through it was brutal). Flirt options are still showing up though? In his gift quest there was one, at least. And I like the idea of them still flirting a bit, because she's a flirty friend and because he seemed a little happier when they were flirty friends. So, can I use the flirt options now without rekindling the potential romance? And - presuming I even have a chance with Isabella at this point - can I use flirt options with Fenris without jeopardizing a romance with Isabela?

I've used no flirt options with Merrill (hawke didn't want to flirt with carver's crush) or Anders (too serious, and kind of a downer), and only one with Sebastian, if that matters.

Help?

I am no expert when it comes to Isabela's romance but I believe the flirt option in her first Act 2 conversation is mandatory to proceed the romance. She shows up at Hawke's house after that. That you had a flirt option in Questioning Beliefs should mean the romance is still active, but the fact that she has not shown up at Hawke's mansion is not a good sign. That should have happened by now and that scene contains a mandatory flirt option ("What about love?") to keep the romance going. So I'm afraid you missed your chance and would have to reload to complete her romance.

The flirt option you see when you give Fenris his gift in Act 2 does not threaten the potential romance with Isabela or other companions, especially after you've ended the romance with him. Selecting any of the broken heart options will permanently end your chance of a relationship with that companion. Rekindling a romance is not possible. That said, he and Isabela are the two characters who require Hawke to remain the most faithful. Flirting with other characters, especially Anders and Merrill, and sleeping with them after sleeping with Isabela or Fenris are likely to prevent their romances from being continued. People have managed to sleep with multiple companions but it usually requires not talking to the one you want to end up with until you've worked your way through the ranks. :P

Flirting with Sebastian is harmless. He will put a stop to the flirting himself eventually if Hawke has flirted with any of the other companions.

Thank you for your response! I...need to replay about ten hours. Isabela's worth it, but damn.

I actually think it's really weird that the whole thing hinges on one line. I mean, it makes sense for CONTINUING the romance to need a particular line, after sleeping with her - but there only being one opportunity to attract her in the first place strikes me as un-Isabela.

Oh! Or does sleeping with someone at the rose mess up a romance?

(This playthrough my hawke doesn't actually want to sleep with any of the other companions. She's kind of slutty, but not with her friends - she's just flirty :))

It is annoying that some lines are mandatory while it's not clear at all that they absolutely have to be picked to keep the romance going. In general the ones in the Act 2 catching up scenes (like Isabela's Ongoing Search and Speak to Fenris) and Questioning Beliefs are needed. Flirts in Act 1 don't count and don't activate the romance yet (although a broken heart option does makes it permanently unavailable already).

Good luck with the replay. :) It's definitely annoying to discover you've missed out and need to start over.

Becoming a customer of the Rose doesn't influence any of the romances, not even of those who express disapproval when Hawke purchases a rump. All it costs is coin. :P That includes Jethann, the blue-eyed elf you talk to for the investigation into a woman's disappearance.
