Gender Wrong!?

So I've just been introduced to Hawke. And I chose to 'customize' except I can only choose male.... My DA2 character was female.

What's going on?

Did I not import the world status correctly at the beginning of the game? Cause everything on Dragon Age Keep is accurate. And most of my in-game dialogue related to DA1 and DA2 has been accurate... but now that I think about it... maybe it hasn't.

But I am 100% sure that when I made a new character, it said I successfully imported a customized world status from the Keep. No doubt about that, so what gives?

Is this the dreaded gender bug I've been reading about or did my world import mess up and I've been fooling myself that it's accurate? I've only played about 30 hours.

It's a bug. And you're doomed with male Hawke.

hmm, are you sure it actually imported your customised world state and not the default world state? Have you noticed anything else that seemed different?

If he can customize the male Hawke, it means it isn't a default world-state.

Sorry, but you're wrong.

In my first PT I made a Keep import mistake and got the Default WS and I could customize default Hawke.

Hmm... I played the default WS and couldn't customize Hawke. Default guy just showed up.

You still imported something then, I think what Dai Grepher meant is if you start a game without importing anything at all.

I tried to, yes, but the WS wasn't properly imported (I forgot some stuff and did not update my import before I imported it, because I thought that happen automatically) and 98% was wrong.

Those 2% that weren't wrong were gender & race of the HoF.

My WS: fem!Dalish Warden, Alistair did the Dark Ritual with Morrigan, Alistair & Anora rule together,Connor lived, fem!Hawke (rogue)

What I got: fem!Dalish Warden, Ultimate Sacrifice, no Kieran, Alistair & Anora rule together, Connor dead, male! Hawke (mage)  <-- the Default WS

Because the default HoF is a fem!Dalish elf too, I didn't notice that I got the wrong WS instead of my own. I found it weird that the codex told me she was dead and that I didn't meet Connor at Redcliffe, but I thought that were some minor hiccups, like how Varric will talk about Sebastian even if you never recruited him.

The best way to check if you've got the right world state before you get too far into the game is to talk to Varric.   My first ever run I did this and realised that what he was saying didn't match my recollection of events, so I checked and realised it hadn't imported correctly.  Of course, you will be really unlucky if your world state matches the default for Hawke but not for everything else because then I suppose he will say the right things and you won't realise anything is wrong.    The Warden having done the ultimate sacrifice in the codex is also a bit of a give away if you didn't do this.

Maybe in between games your Hawke had a sex change.

You still imported a world state. That you didn't adjust it to be the correct world state (easy to miss on your first import) doesn't make a difference.

But I think the point was that Hawke's gender was wrong even for the incorrect import.
