Because I like the people, of course. :D

If you must know, I read the DA forums mostly. I get bored and post here sometimes.

I'm glad we share the common goal, Kat.

Most video games are unnecessary in the end.

But we want them anyway.

Me3 was rather poor with a trainwreck ending that also made setting anything future in the Milky Way as problematic in the extreme.
Personally I'm looking forward to the blank slate that is andromeda.

with the extended cut and keen observation the endings make sense. I've come to accept the endings and even like them. Things never work the way we plan. That's life l. You can't accept what you don't understand, you get left behind. People didn't like the endings cause they didn't understand. There were choices to be made. Destroy the reapers which is selfish but it does end the conflict. Control in which Shepard becomes the master. A peacekeeper and protector or an overlord with an iron fist. Synthesis, evolving every species in the galaxy. Even today we continue to evolve through technology. Without it we have sticks or stones. I prefer.ME2. It was the best game but ME3 was a masterpiece as well. For its time. Now we have better technology and videogames will keep evolving.

How is destroying reapers selfish? You're giving everyone their own dignity and autonomy back. The ability to decide their own fate and evolution, for better or worse. That's the most unselfish thing you can do.

You prop up Synthesis, but you're just like the Catalyst, who thinks it knows what's good for everyone. And that's not how evolution works. Evolution is chaotic.

I'll agree with the first bit though. I don't mind the endings.. basically.

I don't see why it being selfish is a particularly bad thing. In that situation, one of my first thoughts would be that I'd rather live, and I'd sure as hell pick the option most likely to help with that.

Well, that's a side benefit... and not everyone lives, I think?

I think the first time I played I had enough for Synthesis, but not for the best destroy ending.

That's your assumption. A lot of people that don't like the endings don't like the all part that starts with the Starbrat's presence and its explanation of the reasoning behind the Reapers. Or a multiple of different things. The endings weren't that complicate to understand from the begin. All the EC shown was an epilogue of the game based on your endings. The only really thing they added that couldn't be explained from the previous version was the Paragon/Renegade difference in Control (which I liked, but I'm not even sure they planned before making the EC).

Destroy isn't selfish. It requires a (huge/small, depending on your stance) sacrifice, but it effectively remove forever the threat of the Reapers.

In Control Shep becomes the master of heaven, maybe :P. Shepard is dead in Control. The new AI or whatever it is just use Shepard's reasoning, opinions and values to decide how to proceed.

Synthesis is (in my humble opinion) nonsense. It's space magic at its best. I can somehow understand how the other endings work, but there's absolutely no explanation how in this ending every living being (which I think isn't limited to sentient species) gets changed to be part synthetic. But to each their own.

I don't understand how having better technologies now would make any difference from a writing point of view.

I disagree with the original poster in the strongest of terms. ME3's endings were crap and not perfect. There were neither Gungans nor Ewoks in the climatic battle at the end so OBVIOUSLY the endings sucked. How can you have a climatic fight at the end of a Sci-fi movie and NOT include short furry ewoks or bumbling gunguns?
