just plugged in ambience from menae, advanced warfare jet pack sounds, and footsteps from half life 1. thought it sounded cool together

It does. I believed it. ![]()
I'm impressed.
I like the perspective when you're controlling who I assume to be Ryder (default appearance). You have a good field of view but you're also up-close to the action.
The jet-pack looks very nice; it looks to be usable just about everywhere, and I can really see how that'll help with exploration and combat.
The UI looks just familiar enough to be intuitive, but tweaked enough to be fresh and new. I've always liked the red/purple/blue UI that Mass Effect 3 has.
What I'm really excited to see is what those little symbols mean, i.e. what powers do they represent? I get the feeling that this alpha-presentation was of a soldier-class Ryder, so I want to see if there are new powers available.
In that regard, I want to see Biotic Charge.

Overall, I have a lot of confidence that BioWare can take lessons learned from Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Inquisition and really make an excellent addition to their repertoire.

Curious.
What lessons?
needed to hear some sound with that jet pack:
This is great.
No they aren't. Andromeda is estimated to be around 1,500,000,000,000 solar masses while the Milky Way is estimated to be around 850,000,000,000 solar masses. That means that Andromeda is about 1.7647 times as massive as the Milky Way.
it's actually about 2.5-10X as big. The number of stars is between 100-400 billion in the milky way and is hotly debated. It's also bigger by about 2X in diameter.
So the relay has been thoroughly debunked?
The relay "leak"? Here's the facts as I've gathered them:it's actually about 2.5-10X as big. The number of stars is between 100-400 billion in the milky way and is hotly debated.

It does seem to come from the same portfolio of the guy that the first legit leak originated from. Problem is, it was uploaded in 2013 at the earliest and it is using software that was made in 2005. Shinobi flat out stated it was "fake", which I interpret as he knew nothing about it because it wasn't associated with Andromeda, and so assumes it was fake. It isn't, I dont think, actually fake - but redditors have done some sleuthing, and the common thought is that it represents a pre-ME1 relay concept. Why it is in that portfolio and uploaded in 2013, I have no idea since that guy reportedly didnt work on ME1 (although everyone is sketchily keeping his identity a secret). But the fact remains, most lines of evidence support it not being associated with Andromeda.
EA also shut the first video down minutes after it was released. This one has been untouched. Also telling.
I actually don't think so.

That's actually the same design (less arcs obviously) as the one we were shown.
Possibly it could be early design of the Tempest without the ship. Also, I'm thinking that there's no way that they would leave the MW galaxy without having knowledge of the workings of the mass relay network. So, it could possibly be a mass relay just scaled down so that only small ships could pass through.
EDIT : And this brings up another point. I know that the reapers were the most technologically advanced "civilization" in the MW. What if they kept on par with Andromeda? That would mean we would have to reintroduce the batarians and the reaper that was taken down by Leviathan, if we are to leave before the final battle. High level batarian who wants to save his people, etc.
Good head canon.
Wait.. the ship is called the Tempest? Why? The Normandy at least had some symbolism behind it (although I don't personally like the sacrificial symbolism... I tried defying it).
It's probably something that will get explained, you know, in the game.... Pointless question.
That's no reason to not be curious now. Uncalled for dickery.

I believe we learned a long time ago in a leak that it was called the Tempest, could be incorrect on that though. Where we learned it, not the name of the ship.

I just looked up the word "Tempest."
noun
1. a violent windstorm, especially one with rain, hail, or snow.
2. a violent commotion, disturbance, or tumult.
verb (used with object)
3. to affect by or as by a tempest; disturb violently.
Maybe that has something to do with the ship and maybe the story it follows?

There are stills from the trailer that have the word Tempest in the GUI. It was also named the Tempest in an earlier survey leak. It's probably not the name of the ship that takes you to Andromeda, the Arkship as I understand it is something else.

I might end up defying this too, if that's case. If I can.
I just got the impression it was because it is meant to be fast, like extreme wind.

It's kind'a like Omega being the final nightclub before utter chaos and the last letter of the Greek alphabet. It's just a name until you start looking into it.
God, I love BioWare.

No, it really isn't. The Ark's arms(for lack of a better word) are very clearly meant to be reminiscent of the Citadel. That relay design is nothing like them aside from having 4 arms.
I guess if you wanna think so. I think that most of the people can see the correlation that I'm going for.

This is kinda convoluted, but it could be named after Shakespeare's The Tempest, in a fairly oblique reference to Forbidden Planet, which was more or less The Tempest in SPACE!
Forbidden Planet was the first science fiction film to be set entirely on another world, out in interstellar space, and the first science fiction film to feature an interstellar spacecraft of explicitly human design. Obviously, with Andromeda, we're talking intergalactic rather than interstellar, but I think the thematic connection still fits: humanity is going further than it ever has before, aboard a spacecraft that - so far as we know, based on the N7 Day video - is of at least partly-human design.
It'll be interesting to see if the actual plot of the game draws further parallels between the two. I wonder if the non-player N7 character in the reveal trailer will be the game's Prospero/Morbius?
I saw a gif of the "jetpack jump" a few days ago, but I didn't see the full video until a few minutes ago. I'm going to say that it's legit, and here's why -- it has that "feel" to it. I've been a fan of the series since it was announced a decade ago. I've consumed the latest bit of Mass Effect news as it came out ever since. I've seen early footage of the entire trilogy as it came out. It may be a gut feeling, but this has the look of legitimacy.
It has to be an early build though. They have gameplay worked out, but most of the video seems to be focusing on in-game physics, lighting, and other visual effects. The Krogan face looks more detailed, as does the human, but the armor and weapons seem to be using models from previous games -- a sign that they're using placeholders. It's also pretty typical that they use one or two roughly written encounters to serve as a showcase of in-game cinematics. Examples of this have been the dialogues scenes in Flux for Mass Effect 1, the encounter with the prison warden in Mass Effect 2, and the encounter with Asari forces on Thessia. All of these scenes were made early, reused for testing and trailers, and rarely made it into the game in the same way that they were shown. To those that remember, it's similar to the scene on Therum that mentions a mission where you save some trapped miners, but that was later cut and replaced with a boss fight and rescuing Liara. The physical setting of the scene was exactly the same though.
Being roughly a year from release, there is still plenty of time to improve if this is the current build, but I can understand some concern from some of my fellow fans. Just keep in mind that this footage wasn't meant to be shown to the public. I know that this seems obvious, but when Bioware is ready to show us the game, it will look ready. Scenes like these are barebones and meant to showcase new changes or implementations, and this is not the final project. A game trailer will have all of these effects and more in place working in unison. Don't freak out, guys.
I don't like the main character, he looks dull, and WTF is this tatoo on his face ? ![]()
I really hope this isn't the real face model for the game.
