VANGUARDS!!!!
The copy/paste scene thing is a bit of a stretch. Are you talking about the pair of randos that salute? I also don't see much similarities at all between ME and DA's companions. Even Varric, DA's auto-bro, is not really like Garrus at all. I suppose one might make a parallel between Vega and Iron Bull, but only on a really superficial level. As characters, they're not much like each other at all.
yeah I agree other than the fact that they both share the same VA and they're both like the tank of the team in their games that's really as far as it goes I think

VANGUARDS!!!!
YES! I look forward to happily charge again, and I'm excited with the lines about big moving beasts and level designs. I always was kind of disappointed we didn't get to really fight a tresher maw in ME2 or ME3. Close up and personal, not from afar with the mako like in ME1 or Grunt's loyalty mission.

I fought tresher maws on foot in ME1 because... the XP ![]()
Can we Biotic Charge back to the Milky Way?The good news is that Biotic Charge is alive and well.
You guys really thought that they wouldn't bring back a version of Biotic Charge?...
After they were so proud of inventing it in ME2 and how it became a crowd favorite?...
I thought it was a forgone conclusion.
I fought tresher maws on foot in ME1 because... the XP
I did once too, but ME1's gameplay was too tedious. After this I said, "fook it" and watched the mako fly propelled by Air Tresher . ![]()
What I wanted was charge it , well once we had a proper charge. Not sure we'll be able to charge the big beasts either, but I'm chosing to be hopeful
I can't believe we're leaving the Milky Way?
Are you still talking about the Milky Way?
They're milking in a way that it's regardless of the Milky Way.
You don't believe me?
Moo for them!
Can we Biotic Charge back to the Milky Way?
No?
Then it's useless.

I'm an Infiltrator player, but I am happy that Biotic Charge is in.
I mean, I can honestly tell you Vanguard is just pure awesome.
I liked Vanguard, but at the same time, it feels very... independent and distant from my squad.
Vanguards are good, I'll say that. But you've gotta be in the mindset of, "Screw you coming here, I'll come to you and mess you up."
Vanguard is champion.

Really?? because Varric always came across as a less vengeful, less fleshed out Garrus to me. Bioware always creates similar characters with slight deviations in their character. You can make comparisons between past characters all the way back to Jade Empire and Kotor and Mass Effect/DA. There is always the edgelord, always the philosopher, the normal/boring one, always the comedian, always the blood luster, always the recluse who is withdrawn from everyone (sometimes the philosopher is blended with this character). The Krogan companions + James = Bull. Every time I would enter a fight especially with a dragon Bull's words sounded exactly like something Wrex or Grunt would say.
Bull: A dragon?!?!?! Oh this is gonna be good. I love you boss!
Grunt: This is why I follow you Shepard BIG THINGS!
The similarities are still there like they are in all Bio games, it's just that DAI characters just became too damn wacky from previous Bio characters (hoping this doesn't happen with Andromeda).
The point was about Vega and Iron Bull being alike. Not Grunt and Iron Bull.
EDIT : There I can definitely see some similarities. They both love to fight, both love showing off how powerful they are, both are macho (Grunt being less so, he'll just whip your ass, he doesn't talk ****), and that's about it.
So, again, some similarities, but nothing I would call substantial.

These are called archetypes and any character can be described as an archetype with minimal effort. Criticisms based on how much a character matches an archetype are not very insightful. Unless of course the criticism is that the character has nothing to offer beyond its archetypical nature. These "slight deviations" as you call them are what make the characters unique. Bull's struggle with the Qun vs Grunt's struggle to become a krogan, Canderous' nostalgia of the Mandalorian Wars vs Wrex's disillusionment with the Krogan, etc. Whether you think these "slight deviations" are enough for you to consider them good and/or unique characters makes for a more interesting discussion. But, for example, it's meaningless to just say that Canderous, Wrex, and Zaeed are "The Mercenary."
I remember the delight of biotic charge + reegar carbine + graceful-balletic-cartwheel-away MP drell vanguard mmm
Grunt is no Bull. How insulting ![]()
I think Bull has just as much in relation to Isabela. He doesn't really believe in anything. But it's charming with Isabela. She's authentic and a free spirit. He's a poser and conflicted. Also, she's just being human. He's a human character in Qunari skin. Which adds a whole layer of ridiculousness to it.
I might even say Grunt is authentic too. He's an honest character. Bull just acts things out.

But you can make the exact same observations about people in real life. People really don't vary that much.
I think they do vary.. but I would chalk this up to typology and archetypes. Real people are more complicated than archetypes though. Writers employ them often, even if they don't consciously do it. Bull, Grunt, Isabela, and probably James are ESTPs. Or at least I'd say Bull acts like one. I get the feeling he does it to ingratiate himself to others. A lot of people have a fake ESTP persona. Like in business or sales.
