25 is a nice age. *thinks back at 2010* Bought myself Pokemon Heart Gold for my 25th birthday~
*thinks at 2020* I'll be 35........... but I don't think I'll stop playing anytime soon.
I remember the first time I felt old. It was my 24th birthday.
That might sound silly, but it made sense. That was my first birthday after finishing school, and the first one at which I had to pay my own bills. My life was changing quickly, and I wasn't ready for it.
Luckily, a few weeks later, Baldur's Gate was released; I haven't felt old since.

The only one still assigned to Dragon Age is Patrick Weekes, the new lead writer. They haven't announced anything and haven't confirmed if they're gong to make another one; most people read between the lines of their statements and believe (as I do) that they're concepting DA4 but are prevented from discussing it due to Bioware/EA corporate policy.
It'll be a long time til the next DA. Bioware only releases one franchise at a time, and next year is the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda. After that there's an entirely new, secret, so far unannounced game they're working on, which I assume will be released the year after that (2018). So the earliest the next DA could be is 2019, and I wouldn't be surprised with a 2020 release.
What do you mean? Weekes is the only one assigned to DA at this time with all other writers from the DA team assigned to other projects at this time? Is anyone familiar with the game-developing process? Is the lead writer initially given time alone to come up with a general concept/plot for the next game with additional writers added to the project once it is approved? I suppose the big question to ask is what would be a good follow-up to DAI and the previous titles? What calamity will next befall Thedas?
Oh well... It sounds like BW is big enough to introduce a new game (usually a continuation of an established franchise) each year. I don't think they would abandon a solid franchise like Dragon Age, but they do need to give their writers time to come up with worthy successors.....hopefully sooner than 2020. It'll be interesting to see what the next game engine will be like. Will they take a leap into VR? Reading Stolen Throne, many of the battles involved warriors mounted on horses, something they couldn't do in the games. I wonder if that will finally arrive...
Let see....for myself, plenty to do! DAI was actually the first Dragon Age game I bought. Then I went back and got the other two and played them (so that I could play DAI again and fully understand what was going on this time). In addition, I've begun reading the various books and comics so I can do an "ultimate/final" playthrough which should be done just before DA4 comes out.
I'm also pondering starting the Mass Effect series. I haven't played any of them, so I can start from the beginning. (Or should that be avoided?)
I would strongly suggest playing Mass Effect series, starting from the first one. I initially hesitated playing them because I don't have the hand-eye coordination to play shooters very well and there isn't a tactical pause feature. (You can pause in combat, but it works very differently.) Anyway, I was glad I went ahead. If you like science fiction, the story and characters are as rich as Dragon Age. You can decide for yourself if you have the same criticism of the final ending that others have, but the journey is exceptional.

Mentally prepare yourself for the ending if you play Mass Effect... There is a high statistical probability that you'll be sad, disappointed, and angry
Of course, that's a problem in itself, because if you prepare, you don't let yourself get as invested and won't enjoy it as much.
But a new person will get the extended ending, which isn't nearly as bad as the original that we saw back in the day.
Though I suspect even the extended ending might still be bad if you're playing through for the first time, it's hard to really know. I've played so many times I'm somewhat desensitized to the whole thing.
I just rush through the end mission and then play Citadel dlc with a touch of headcanon.

In my opinion, the EC is just as bad as the original. Worse in the sense that it seemed like an insult to me in some ways. At it didn't make any more sense.
Yeah, I think the best outcome you could have is to just play the ending and then play Citadel and headcanon it happening afterwards as an epilogue. That's the only place in the story it fit anyway, narrative-wise.

That applies to any Bioware game now apparently. I mean, DAI had an ending that made people happy and satisfied...until Trespasser came out.
The word "people" typically means everyone - all persons as a collective.
No, it doesn't. People means more than one person. If it meant everyone, we would not have invented the word everyone. Now people can be used to mean everyone, but that's not what it typically means.

It's not that big of deal, but for arguments sake:
I didn't realize you were using it in that way since I don't typically do so.
Neither do I. For me saying "people" is like saying "players" - either way we assume we're talking about the whole, or at the very least majority of groups.
Yes we wait man let their beards grow women let their hair grow so when a new game finally comes out the man look like Santa Claus and the women have such long hair that they will trip over it.
Different team. Different location (Andromeda is being developed at BioWare Montréal).
Some of the DAI team has moved to the new IP (which is still secret), though DA does still have writers, so something is getting done on that front. Probably DA4.
what I meant was that MEA is the next big project coming out of this group and that the majority of the focus is on that now
I enjoyed Trespasser - sort of - at the time, because I thought it basically confirmed a continuation of the Inquisitor's story and a satisfying narrative about their fight with Solas. But I was probably wrong, and if that's the case I find it decidedly unsatisfying.

What? No... Hanako is right. An undisclosed number of people... is an undisclosed number of people. Best not to assume someone meant more than what they wrote.

Assume? If "assumptions" are now what it means to gather meaning from a well-defined and established word, then...I guess all language is now up for interpretation.
"People" is a generalized term, one only needs to add a measurable sum or description before hand. i.e. 1 person, 2 people, the Native people, etc. It is too broad of a term. The word people needs to be used with a "disclosed," amount such as 1, 2, some, few, many, or an adjective.
The definition of People as I placed in a previous post:
Spoiler
noun, plural peoples for 4.
1.
persons indefinitely or collectively; persons in general:
to find it easy to talk to people; What will people think?
2.
persons, whether men, women, or children, considered as numerableindividuals forming a group:
Twenty people volunteered to help.
3.
human beings, as distinguished from animals or other beings.
4.
the entire body of persons who constitute a community, tribe, nation,or other group by virtue of a common culture, history, religion, or thelike:
the people of Australia; the Jewish people.
5.
the persons of any particular group, company, or number (sometimesused in combination):
the people of a parish; educated people; salespeople.
6.
the ordinary persons, as distinguished from those who have wealth, rank, influence, etc.:
a man of the people.
7.
the subjects, followers, or subordinates of a ruler, leader, employer, etc.:
I'm not very patient... I don't want to wait four years for the next game. Not when the last one ended with cliffhanger. So... 2018?
yeah late 2018 or 2019 I'd have thought. willl likely be the earliest we see the next DA assuming they do one. I think it's safe to assume they will given DAI was given GOTY status and was very well received by most. But unfortunqately we can't asy for cretain there will be right now until it's been green lit

I'm not sure how you got that out of what I wrote, since I wrote that you should not assume
And I'm just going to have to disagree with the rest. Hanako used the word in an acceptable way, and language is indeed often up for interpretation. That's the nature of language.
Probably best to drop this topic now, but I'm stubborn.
