I would have to that the Warlord is the most annoying character for me, don't know why, just is. I guess because I see them played so poorly by PUGS.
And as you stated earlier, I believe, I don't know if there's anything worse than a poorly played Volus

Nova yellers, all of them should be tossed out the airlock, pugs and veterans alike.

Too bad lots of new people/pugs don't realize the safe classes in which you can still be a massive help to a team, score well and not be on your face all game, even if a non premium weapon.  (ie Huntress)

I basically share earlier posters' sentiments about how I generally don't care about what kits people play, so long as they're actually trying and not just being belligerent little *****. (I'm actually pretty fond of Puggernauts in particular, since they've saved me from almost certain death countless times.)

The one exception is Novaguard. I've never had a single good experience with a Novaguard.

Yeah in my experience a PUG Krolord is going to spend about 85% of the game spectating, due to getting synced every wave. Its actually sort of fascinating, how people can do the same thing over and over again, apparently expecting a different outcome.

This is why I love my Krolord friend, he plays it with style, regardless of difficulty or enemy.

Very true. Jumped into an all-Krogan Warlord game which was Jade/Reapers/Gold last night. It was wave 3, and all were down in the hack circle (and all dead), so my mere presence was enough to stop a Wave 3 squad wipe (the game was in awe of the penguin :D).

I finished the last 50% of the objective alone and managed to pull the team to wave 4. From then on, it was basically as if the Reapers were playing a new game called Krogan Slaughter (ages 18+). I lost count as to how many times the Krogans were killed, and that was usually at the start of a wave...

I was the only one who extracted. Never went down once. Completed the objectives alone. Mission successful. QFI>everything.

Probably, but I'm pretty sure I haven't been outscored once in a gold or platinum pug by an AIU reegar with similar gear, equipement etc. in over 1 year, yet on paper I should be. One of the reason is I'm able to demonstrate better survivability and positioning in the long run. As far as teamwork goes, from what I've seen I'm also able to perform better feats of support/reviving.

The AIU moves faster, it has a specialization with shotguns and most of the time it will have everything specd on damage. So I do believe that it takes some skill or at least experience to get to a point where you can outscore a competent AIU reegar with a TGI reegar specd on shields.

It's very likely that I would be outscored by a very proficient AIU reegar because even if it's small, there's still a slight gap in damage output.
This would be even more true If I played with 2 skilled players wearing powerhouse kits and I was competing with a skilled AIU, I'd probably have trouble keeping up. I'll still stick with the TGI however, because I'm way better at taking advantage of stim packs to ignore ennemy fire than I would be with repair matrix. At the end of the day, I'm okay with losing a little damage output, knowing I'm still destroying any enemy of any faction in an instant and that I can pull of ridiculous stunts that I might not be able to do otherwise when/if push comes to shove.

If we're talking about TC and players in general, assuming that most player would do better with damage may be true, I'd even recommend it on most kits. I'd add that most players willing to make duration a real asset can do it with various kits if they put some effort and thinking into it.

I don't mean to drag the debate endlessly and I'm sorry if it feels that way, I'm just speaking my mind honestly. All the differents aspects of this game result in great depth in terms of gameplay.

It's just a game after all and nothing wrong with spicing up the debate now and then as long as it's game related.

One difference to consider though is that you are a top player with great solo capability etc, most AIU/Reegar pugs are usually less skilled at this game. In general the AIU is better with the Reegar, but one faction where I found the TGI to be better is Cerberus, the TGI can stun the Dragoons with overload, but the AIU don't really have anything to stop them with unless using the Venom, but against Reapers and Collectors the AIU is definately better as it's mainly large slow moving armored units.

True, experience with specific kits and in the game in general is a decisive factor. To be fair I haven't played with a great AIU in a while and I probably played the kit 2 or 3 times in the last 18 months so I'm no expert on the matter. I'm not sure it means anything to say a kit is better than an other, there's always gonna be someone to argue against it (okay... I guess I'm "that guy" in this scenario). It makes more sense to me if we're talking about specific things. If you tell me the AIU Reegar is better than the TGI reegar at dealing the most damage in a short period of time, I'm not gonna argue with you, how could I. You talked about the dragoons and overload, that's a good point. The more you add other factors, the more you get into that grey area where everyone has a different opinion, a different idea of what something means. How much do you like a kit, why, how do you spec them, what kind of player are you, would you make out with a Volus, do you drink beer or do you eat chocolate (you know who you are... ;) ), those kinds of things.

When the AIU first got introduced

Spoiler
, I played with it for a bit
Spoiler
and I thought "OMG that kit is so OP it's a joke". If you ask me now I find the TGI joke to be funnier, mainly because of stimpacks. I'm sure some players like repair matrix better or think it's more OP.  I'm not saying they're wrong : you can basically come back from the dead. But play your cards right with the TGI and you won't have to.

play your cards right with the TGI.

I'm not sure I can.  :P

The TGI completes the Unholy Trinity of characters I genuinely can't be arsed playing because of acute boredom, along with the Talon and Warlord. Put simply, the TGI crushes my soul, and the thought of playing him with a Reegar quite literally makes me nauseous. Then again, using the Reegar on anything makes me nauseous. Rattle rattle rattle  Fair play to you though, for at least using him differently from the usual Carrier version.  :)

I know different things motivate people in different ways, but for me at this stage I can only really understand two reasons for playing the TGI - the first is quite obvious scrubbery with L2P issues, while the second is for people who have a very different view of how co-op games work, and are conscious of score in a competitive sense. I know some of you young 'uns may find it hard to believe, but some of us regard finishing second as preferable to coming first all the time.  ;)

I must say I thoroughly enjoy playing a melee-focused AIU, but I rarely do so, primarily because of the influence of this place - I'm almost embarrassed to play some of the blindingly OP kits in case it should appear that I do actually care about score. Damn you, BSN!

The TGI has great tools that you can use to your and your team's advantage. Thinking his use is limited to players with L2P issues or players obssessed with score is...well, limited in a way. Honestly, I haven't seen a TGI carrier in a long time so I don't know how people generally play them these days. I get that you're tired about a kit and you that you find him boring but I don't understand why anyone would think you can't use this kit to do good co-op as well as heavy damage, which is something I appreciate when playing platinum matches. I've seen voluses being total scorwhores and TGI doing excellent teamwork. Don't know about TGI users, but this kit can do it all, anyone with a strong co-op mentality will be an excellent teammate with a TGI.

If I had to summarize what I like about him, it's certainly not the most exciting gameplay but, he makes things easy for me. I only play him on platinum, and I play a lot of pugs... You know how it is, you can find yourself in really tough spots when you're on platinum pug land. Bad team, laggy host, a tough map and faction, things going AWOL, players leaving the game... If I get a few of those in a row, I'll think about the TGI. In my experience, even if overall, most game end in succes, joining a platinum pug means taking chances. I don't know about you guys but though I usually enjoy the thrill of a good challenge, sometimes, I really don't want to take chances and just take it easy  :D. With him I know I have a great chance of success, as an individual player as well as a team player and I still get that big credits from the platinum difficulty. I hardly ever use him with friends because there's just no need, unless I have him low level, like 5-7 and want to promote faster, but then again, it's very rare.

It's true I get can a bit competitive sometimes, but really not that much. The mission, support and fallen comrades are my top priority. I will run to the end of Rio to revive you regardless of the score (which will be pretty easy with adrenaline III and TC on duration). I don't think it's that bad to have a bit of friendly competition as long as it doesn't hurt the co-op aspect. But hey, it's good you're able to not consider it at all, and I do mean that. I still have a few years (decades rly... ) to get to that point.

If you enjoy playing that AIU you should just play it in my opinion. Well that's up to you, rest assured I'll keep playing my TGI reegar from time to time, even if it most people think of them as an OP kit and OP gun, they are, so what ? As long as you're not abusing it and demonstrate good teamwork... if people still complain about you , they're either dumb, vexed you outscored them or both. Either way it's not gonna stop me from having fun and making sure their sorry a** gets to extraction too.

What do I hate in the hands of PUGs ? Well, pretty standard, I guess.

- TGI Harrier / AIU Reegar who die all the time (if they don't, it's alright)

- Puggernauts who die all the time and have melee enhancements (omni-blade and/or strength enhancers) - I mean, c'mon, melee on the Jug...

- Voluses who will spam Shield boost all the game while firing with an Avanger / CSMG / Phalanx / whatever and will finish with less than 20k in platinum

- Biotic / Tech Slash spammers

I really can't stand the two latter tbh.

- Biotic / Tech Slash spammers

Had no idea what all the fuss was about until a very recently. I guess I never had to endure it before or I just never realized which is a bit weird.

Everything changed a few days ago. I didn't realize the host switched from gold to platinum so here I was on Dagger/Geth as a FHE Arc Pistol with pistol amp I. A bit lacking in fire power so I was desperately trying to aim for the head to get that extra damage. I think the Shadow meant well and wanted to capitalize on Incineration + Tech Slash combo so he kept following me around and spamming it during the whole game, it was really disturbing.

IMHO, platinum pugging is exempt. Anything goes there especially off host and most of all for GiPs. Also, some modded games are essentially impossible to run without overpowered kits.

-Lobby leader: because most of time they change the map to the same repeated maps and enemies even if there are good players in lobby, The worse is when the host is using "OP" characters and someone is using the juggernaut. (not really a kit, but the combo Giant + Reapers or Geth + "OP kits" is annoying)

-AIU "squad member has flatlined", grenade capacity V: because they "steal" all the grenades from a teammate who could be doing something more useful with the grenades. Same can be said about stimulant packs spammers.

-Vorcha Sentinel/Soldier "i can`t fireexplode": because they only spam flamer and won`t detonate any FE (wtf?)

-Geth Juggernaut "my shield can block melee damage": because they place the hex shield to block the enemy melee (?) while also blocking your powers/weapons.

-Volus "i`m here to heal the juggernaut" because they also don`t do any damage and unfortunately they can also block your powers/weapons, c`mon biowar.

-N7 Fury "i can dark channel and detonate with throw, i don`t need annihilation field" because that`s an ugly way to play the n7 fury.

-Krogan "The Hugger" Warlord because they start hugging bosses early in Platinum games.

-Any Krogans using pyjack weapons.

That`s all i remember now.

Agreed absolutely - and I need to emphasize that I accept that's where LightRobot is coming from too (along with his perfectly valid reasons for playing a kit however he wants). My loathing of the Reegar is entirely a personal mechanical issue - it rattles. Which means it doesn't go BOOM. I just hate the thing, and it is worth mentioning that in the land of no frames we can barely exploit its supposed great strength anyway. I do use it once in a blue moon on Quarians, but generally I just hate it. And it does irk me somewhat on Krogan pugs, though if they headbutt back between waves all is forgiven.

Seeing volus being played by just spamming shield boost and gluing themselves to teammates, in my opinion is not the most optimal way of playing any volus kit.

Keeping your teammates alive is one thing anybody can do that easily as the volus, however being able to contribute by doing damage as the volus however you can preferably not by something like the avenger assault rifle, is not something often you'd see in pugs who use the volus, otherwise you're just dead weight to your team.

And it certainly doesn't help either in the long run if your team runs out of medi gel and you end being the only one alive as the volus with a predator pistol.

Agreed too. It's just that, as mentioned, PUGs tend to die all the time and/or be pretty useless with those.

EDIT : Yup, agreed. It's like playing with better shields, but with 3 players instead of 4.
