From what I gather, the ARKON project is a convoy of colony ships. Some of these include non human races (see 1st teaser video). The second teaser video has our Shep giving a goodbye speech before the tri-colour ending.

 

How then, would Shep become a legend in Andromeda?

There is only one real Commander Shepard and his name was Alan "Smilin' Al" Bartlett Shepard, first American in space and fifth man to put his footprints on the Moon. And let me tell you something else, the Normandy ain't got crap on either the CSM Kitty Hawk or the LEM Antares.

Thankfully he's (very much likely) gone for good.  I loved playing as Shepard and his crew.  However that story is done.  And while I personally want BioWare to pick a "canon" ending and stay in the MW...they're not...so no we're not gonna have a "legend of Shepard" in ME:A.  He MIGHT be mentioned, but there won't be much about him at all being they'd HAVE to canonize an ending in order to really do anything of worth with him from here on forward.

BW has already established that there is a legend of "The Shepard" of sorts, post-ME3.

I'll never understand this obsession. Shepard is such a generic hero that's more of a punchline than an icon of gaming. When people think of Commander Shepard they think of the Sheploo rape face, Jennifer Hale's creepy romance dialog, "I should go," and a dozen examples of being completely stupid("We fight or we die! That's the plan!").

I don't just believe it, I want it to be that way.

 

And for me Mass Effect was never about Shepard. It was more about the setting itself and the Citadel and the aliens. I fully understood Shepard was just the character I embodied to see all the things I got to like. That said, I did find Shepard to be awesome in ME2 especially because he's badass, does what I want him to do most of the time, and I felt like I was playing as myself through him, but there's no reason a new protagonist shouldn't be able to give me that as well.

Well, for me Shepard was precisely all those things. The spirit of it.

I'm getting reminded of the Bring Back the Warden threads in the DA forums.

Unless BioWare suddenly changes their mind about the endings, playing as Shepard again isn't feasible. I mean, think about it.

Synthesis: Shepard is straight up dead, incorporated into the Force or whatever.

Control: Goodie, Shepard as the Eternal Shepherd of the Flock. Where's the story in that? Or gameplay, for that matter?

Destroy: Maybe, but that require factoring in both the low EMS and high EMS story. And I don't see how that could be very compatible with each other.

ME is an expanding universe with a lot of stories to tell. The debate about the merits or detriments of leaving the galaxy as side, there is enough variables to prevent Shepard from being the PC. My guess is that we'll have little bits of "legends" and "old stories," that accounts for things that happened no matter what. Sovereign's attack on the Citadel, the abductions of the human colonists, ect. They aren't going to directly touch the endings.

That's the way it should be. I'm looking forward to another game set in the ME-verse, but I'd rather have a fresh character and a new start. Whether Shepard is dead, alive, or the Eternal Shepherd, the story is done. Maybe we'll have a ME game set extremely far in the future from ME3 where we end up back in the MW. However, it isn't going to be with Shepard, or one of their descendants.

Bioware said they want to move on. Every time new information shows up, it makes even clearer that Shepard is gone. Do you want Mass Effect: The Biotics Awaken or a brand new story? I loved the first trilogy, but don't expect them to bring him/her back.

Strangely enough, they won anyways..
