When did Apple pass up profits? And what exactly did they win?

ME is an expanding universe with a lot of stories to tell.
It was until it went belly up.
They could have easily made an entirely new setting and done sci-fi like this new game, and it'd be no different. There's no benefit to it being Mass Effect necessarily. At best, it's appeasement for people who were insulted by ME3. Like this is their way of trying to win those people over again. But Mass Effect itself never needed to go any further than it did. That's how Hudson planned it. It was written as a particular story, more than a platform or world (like a D&D or something).
For those who liked ME (more or less), I'm not sure what needs to be done anymore.
I just hope they didn't turn Shepard into SWTOR's Revan or Revanites stuff... *cringe* "I believe in the path of Revan!"
When did Apple pass up profits? And what exactly did they win?
I should clarify that they passed up obvious profits. Not profit necessarily.
For one, their clones were shut down. They could have been a software behemoth, and might've made more cash that way. But Steve Jobs wanted a whole platform to himself/themselves.

Bioware said they want to move on. Every time new information shows up, it makes even clearer that Shepard is gone. Do you want Mass Effect: The Biotics Awaken or a brand new story? I loved the first trilogy, but don't expect them to bring him/her back.
I'd want that just for the salt on Bsn lol.
My common sense tells me you're right, but my inner fanboy really wants to revisit the Mass Effect universe.
I suppose we'll wait and see. I don't think I'll be pre-ordering this, or even buying it on the day of release. I'll watch some gameplay and read the reviews first.
I understand that.. wanting to revisit.
I'm just saying.. if this is such a clean slate, then I could have happily revisited just Bioware doing sci-fi again.. Mass Effect or not. To me, ME was already good enough (and complete), for what it was.
Shepard is an awful character who needs to die. Let it ****** rest.
I just hope they didn't turn Shepard into SWTOR's Revan or Revanites stuff... *cringe* "I believe in the path of Revan!"
I thought they were a jab at the Revan fanboys/fangirls (as well as Obsidian) who blow his/"her" character out of proportion.
In my opinion, even if the ending to Mass Effect 3 was perfect and not the mess it was, that would be the end for Shepard. His story has been told and the purpose of being him (stopping the Reaper threat) is over. If they were making Mass Effect 4 with you playing as Shepard post Reaper war, you would have a segment of people complaining about milking the characters and not ending Shepard's story when it should be done with. You can never satisfy everyone.
Honestly, I am curious to see how this goes with Andromeda. A small part of me feels like they slapped on the Mass Effect name and characters to make more money with brand recognition. However, I thought the same thing at first with Bioshock Infinite and that worked out extremely well in the end. I trust Bioware to make at least a good game based on my history with them.
"Is an Asari ready to mate?" Wreav 2:12
"And The Shepard exiteth the elevator
and beheld before her an Eclipse mercenary whom she didst approach.
'Hast thou seen the assassin?' asketh The Shepard.
'If I didst, I would tellest thou not,' he spake.
The Shepard approacheth him. 'Thou hast two ways down: express or coach. Tellest me where the assassin is.'
But the mercenary understandeth not the gravity of his situation.
'I sayest nothing to you,' he sayeth.
The Shepard then cast him through the window and looketh down and spaketh. 'How about goodbye?'" - The Gospel of The Shepard according to Zaeed. (10th translation - original version would get me banned)

Its fine if they're like the cult at Dromund Kaas which I destroyed them happily. Then Shadow of Revan happened. There's no clear explanation to how the Revanites became that big (SW version of Cerberus anyone?) and Revan himself was bewildered as well. Some of my WTF moments in swtor...

Biotics Awakens please, The Shepard clan has the highest amount element zero nodules ever discovered in human beings.
Hannah Shepard didn't have a husband she was just impregnated by Eezo and thus Shepard was created.
Shepard had a talent for tech even as a child, and won a pod racing.. i mean shuttle racing contest at the age of 6.
Shepard built EDI out of spare parts but didn't finish her, allowing the cerberus guys to steal what was made and finish the project.
When Shepard joined TIM he carried out order 1212 on Freedom's Progress no one survived.
You people need to start your own cult.
The cult of "I Should Go."

"Believe it or not, we sometimes have good ideas. You should try listening." Shepard 3:7.

Making revanites a serious thing instead of bunch of crazy hermits was a mistake. Now when I think about it, everything concerning Revan in TOR was a mistake.
I'm not sure what you're talking about. Apple does make and sell software.
I'm talking about the OS. They had clones at one point, before Jobs came back in. Apple probably would have just focused on providing OS and app software eventually, like Microsoft (or like Microsoft was for awhile). Getting rid of it was considered a mistake at a time. Jobs played a more longterm game. He also got lucky creating new hardware dependency with the iphone/ipad/etc.. No one foresaw any of that.
Yes, I am legend. But BioWare threw a wrench in that legend with ME3, so I'm forced to bow down because nothing makes sense in my legend anymore.

Do you guys really believe that? will Shepard be a legend on ME Andromeda?
Do you think we will be able to separate Shepard from Mass Effect?
Because for me ..Shepard is a legend and i can t , will never disassociate Shepard from Mass Effect
Mass Effect is...Shepard.
We is wrong (I've never associated ME with Sheppard as strongly as many other fans!), I'd be happy not being Sheppard (I liked the character, but he's just an avatar in the game for me, just like say Geralt is in "The Witcher") anymore (I didn't hate the character, but the universe is not tied to that character for me - just like Dragon Age is not tied to my warden from the first game!) and seeing the world from a different perspective
(as long as there's more Mass Effect and its being done right...sadly we will leave the galaxy because of the botched ending of ME3 (thanks Bioware, really, great job -.-)...I'd have loved to stay in ours and I'd have loved to explore Thessia, Surkesh etc. more thoroughly (just like other less known worlds like say the Hanar homeworld etc.))
So no, Mass Effect isn't Sheppard (the novels showed that very well!)
greetings LAX
I'm sad they didn't do the male version yet. ![]()
We'll call it the cult of Shepard!
Preist: And so it was he traveled the galaxy far and wide, bringing peace to Rannoch, salvation to the Rachni, and hope to the Krogan.
So he should go.
Flock: So he should go.
Preist: We will begin todays sermon with Tali chapter 9 verse 5. The demon Kelisah has just blasphemed the prophet. So he should go.
Flock: So he should go.
No! Billions who would die in the holy wars when the inevitable schism splits it into 3religions:\
Fanatic 1: Destruction is the True Way!
Fanatic 2: You worship destruction? Then you shall have it Followers of Control, ATTACK!
Fanatic 3: FOOLS! You both follow false gods! All true Children of The Shepard know that Synthesis is the only path to salvation!
