Sera is too awesome to go. Even though in the beginning I found her highly annoying, but after a couple of play throughs, she grows on you.
Why is Sera the only companion with the option to leave the inquisition?

Because it's true that she doesn't fit. End of the story.
She is just a kid who cares not for the consequences of her childish actions, she is stubborn and refuses to see the truth even when it's in front of her eyes (see the way she reacts at the Temple of Mythal, I mean come on, immature much?).
While some people may find her jokes and way of speaking funny, not everyone does.
And while most of the other characters have a reason, or at least are written in a way they have one, to be in the Inquisition - yes, even Vivienne, or Blackwall, Sera does not. She doesn't even explain to you what she does or why she wants in, she just blurbs out some words that make no sense (like 90% of her remaining conversation) and basically when you ask her "yes but why should I really have you here?" her answer is basically "because I want to be here". Eh, self centered much? She doesn't bring anything to the Inquisition, in fact you can ask her all of the 3 options like "do you have connections? Do you have spies?" etc, and she always says she doesn't.
The Inquisitor can take her in to try her out and eventually quizzy can either get affectionate with her (friendly or romantically) and decide to keep her, as a friend or lover or in my case as a sort of young stupid but funny sister, or decide she doesn't fit. Cause she doesn't. That's why you have the option. The devs and writers aren't stupid.. if they put the option there, it's because they know she doesn't fit. She's an extra +1 but could be easily replaced.
And yes, it seems like she was supposed to have a sort of Robin Hood thing going on about her, like others have said, but it doesn't really work well for her. Robin Hood was a nice character, with some sort of moral, stealing from the rich to give it to the poor. Sera is what exactly? A girl who annoys (or even worse kills) the rich just because basically she does not like them. She doesn't give anyone a chance. Every noble sucks because she's decided so. Ehr, no. That's not how it works. She's pretentious. And did I say stubborn? Just in case I'll repeat it. She doesn't listen to you or even believe a word of what you say if what you say goes against what's in her silly childish mind. She's not open for discussion - so she's a limited mind character..
While some of you will like that and say that it makes her really simple, you have to accept that people may not like this point of view in the situation Thedas is in..
Just my 2 cents (ofc I'll gain the hate from a list of Sera-lovers'
).
And let me add, I've never kicked her. She is friends with all my Inquisitors. But they just consider her like a child and don't ever discuss important stuff with her since it's pointless. Inqui just goes to Sera to have a laugh when she's stressed.

I've started the game again specifically to recruit Sera!
She's hard to chat to because so many of her dialogue options don't gain her approval (or i found it hard anyway) and she's the only one that plays pranks so it could be because you just get fed up her pranking that you think 'Boot!'.
She's good in the field, but irritates some of the other companions so i guess maybe this is it.
She can be irritating in a way none of the other characters can. (except Vivienne but *she* isn't wrapping anyones breeches to flagpoles so ... *shrugs*)
I might get used to her. I am jealous of her cute leggings and top as well to be fair. ![]()

Maybe it is because she's the only 'unlawful' companion you can recruit?
Dorian is a magister, Vivienne is a member of high court, Blackwall is an alleged Warden, etc.--all very professional titles. Even Solas has the unofficial title of "Fade Expert" (but he's one of the permanent companions, so I guess we shouldn't count him).
Kicking any of them out against their will might be considered harder than throwing out a hoodlum like Sera. Even if it is only harder because of reputation damage. Expelling them from Skyhold for misdemeanor (Sera) would be one thing, but kicking them out just because you don't personally like them would likely hurt the Inquisition's reputation.
But this is just a guess.
Yes maybe you are right that that is the reason. There is another thing that bothers me a bit and that is why can i only kick out Sera Blackwall Dorian and Cole if i am correct with these four companions. Can you or someone else give me an answer to this question. Why can i not kick out Vivienne or the Iron Bull or the others. Is it because they have some involvement in the rest of the game or is it something else that i cannot kick them out as well.
