Does anyone know if Mass Effect 4 will have Xbox Controller Support for the PC version?

I prefer to play games on my PC connected to my 60 inch TV on my couch laid back with ultra high setting, 60+FPS and of course mods when available.

I didn't buy Mass Effect 1,2 and 3 for the PC because it didn't have controller support and keyboard/mouse is not a viable option for my PC setup in the living room. If BioWare doesn't add an Xbox Controller support for Mass Effect 4 then I simply won't buy the game...

Since this is going to be a new story, with a new main character, and considering the game will be released around 2017, I don't see a reason why not to include controller support for a big game like this.

Thanks.

I came here to ask this exact same thing.  I'm really hoping the PC version has controller support, especially since I don't play on consoles anymore.  It pretty much means i'm not buying the next mass effect if there isn't pc controller support..

I'd have thought so. BioWare were really late on implementing controller support in their PC games, but DA: I had it, and I have to imagine anything they make going forward will, too.

yeah I'd imagine they will. Personally I prefer keyboard and mouse but seeing as a lot of people do play using controllers these days a lot of games need to support them.

If it doesn't, I'll be surprised. But even then, there are ways you can get around that if you're willing to put in a little more effort than "plug in/pair controller > start game"

Inquisition was designed FOR controller and all three Mass Effect games have controller mods. Even if MEA doesn't have native controller support you can bet it will be modded in.

Use a mod, play the trilogy.

Or better yet, don't.

What would we ever do without the "I better get _____ in Andromeda, else I'm not buying it" threads.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels the same regarding this!

That being said, I do hope by making an xbox360 controller support, they don't compromise the Keyboard and Mouse players.

I feel both Controller and K&M players should have best experience on the PC version.

PC gaming is really about choices and not just better graphics and performance with mods. So I hope the devs do a good job on both control options for players like me who will be playing it on a PC with a controller in the living room and others who prefer to play it on a PC on their desk with the keyboard and mouse.

<3 Thank you community and Devs who are reading this!

I'd bet they support Controllers this time around. But it will likely be XBox One instead of XBox 360 (since they are discontinuing the 360). I personally use the Logitech G13 Advanced Keypad and Mouse for PC gaming. And I can't wait to play Andromeda in max settings, on a new 43" 4K UHD monitor from 2-3 feet away. I played the original ME trilogy on XBox 360 with controller because all of the good DLC was initially only available there.

Oh btw both Xbox360 controller and XboxOne controller are Xinput devices so if the xbox360 controller works so will the XboxOne controller on the PC,  vise-versa.   :) So even if they discontinue the 360 controller, you can still play future PC games with it.

You really shouldn't be forced to buy an inferior version just for controller support in 2016. BioWare's insistence on m+kb for Mass Effect on PC has always seemed bizarre. It's not just desktop users also... Mass Effect's control scheme on laptops with trackpads is borderline unplayable.

PS the XB1 controller has better mouse sensitivity/accuracy and is worth upgrading for IMO.

Is such a support really necessary on PC? Pfff ... hardly, I'd say.

The question is rather: Will it have m+kb support (that does not suck)?

Controller support doesn't appeal to you that's fine but try to have some appreciation that there are millions more people who seemingly would rather play this series on controller. I use m+KB desktop PCs all day so I associate them with work. I don't spend my leisure time at a desk. Hotkeys are nice and all but as this game is not a competitive Fps I see no real obvious advantage that keyboard has over the controller and I definitely prefer the power wheel personally - not to mention that it is the original control scheme.

Not having controller support for any game that isn't a 4X is embarrassing in this day and age. To borrow an expression from soccer it's a bit tinpot.

DAI, after all plays better with a controller.  aAmost like it wasn't even meant to be played on a keyboard

I also hope so.

I can use the keyboard and mouse, I don't like/enjoy/want to use the keyboard and mouse.   I'll probably start out with it for the PS4 but I've also picked up a pc copy of other games (DAO, JE, all 3 ME games) especially if they have really interesting mods.

I've used the controller mods and really, it's just not the same as having the game set up to use either keyboard or controller.

I have a similar setup, and sometimes use a keyboard with an extension cord and wireless mouse to play.

It's nice to have options. :)

I keep hearing this. Can anybody articulate why? I thought DAI played pretty much like Skyrim with more powers -- WASD movement, mouselook and mouse attack. Or does Skyrim play better with a controller too? ( I wouldn't know; whenever I've tried them I don't see the point.)

I'd say it will, 99% sure.

I prefer playing competitive and first person games with mouse and keyboard for the precision, but everything else I play with controller, especially third person games, because the movement is extremely important most of the time, and sometimes the correct positioning is even more important, than the right aim. I picked up the 360 controller in 2010 and it took me through countless hours of gaming, fun and joy. Now I own a xbox one elite controller, and boy oh boy is this thing awesome.

Can't wait to play Andromeda with it, the pedals on the back will surely help me out, as I was missing some buttons from time to time when switching between keyboard and controller!  :P

I concur regarding controller aupport for MEA, but I disagree with your assessment of DAI (which I think is significantly better with KBM, and in fact plays completely differently).

To me, keyboard and mouse played far more awkwardly.  I fully admit that being left-handed might have shaded my analysis, as I typically spend a great deal of time when I first start up a game shifting key bindings about.  But this time it didn't really help.

And yes, Skyrim played much better with a controller too.  Which was surprising since usually games with a first person perspective play better for e with KB&M (easier to pan the camera around with a mouse)

I really liked how manoeuvrable the tactical camera was with KBM, and the behaviour of pausing with KBM was far better (an actual pause that could be toggled) as opposed to how it worked with a controller.

The problem with the tactical camera was range.  By the time you get close enough to actually examine an enemy you're almost into combat anyway.

Plus it's problem with elevations.

The tactical camera wasn't very "tactical"

I agree, I still think one of the bigger limitations on the Kb/M design was that the commands were broken apart just a little too much and either having a couple of abilities grouped on the same key or mapping the same key to different abilities if I am doing different things such as combat, tactical combat, or exploration.
