I selfishly hope that virtual reality doesn't become the default for AAA games in the near future. There are a lot of franchises I'd miss if I couldn't play them, including Dragon Age :( . (I can't play games in first person because they make me motion sick.)

I hope so too, a few days ago I watched a First Person Let's Play and it gave me such a headache  :pinched:

I own one single FP game and that's Mirror's Edge for the PS3.

Haven't played it in years. :( (tho less because of the motion sickness and more cause idk how to survive that particular level)

Also, I wear glasses, now idk if you know this, but wearing glasses AND then putting something over them, for example 3D glasses, thight headphones/headsets etc is very uncomfortable and unstable (in case of the 3D glasses). I imagine wearing a VR device could(?) be uncomfortable too, for people who have to wear glasses.

(just a speculation)

That said, I generally prefer third person games, I got Batman Arkham City and the over-the-shoulder-view annoys me so much.  <_<

Maybe in the future they will come up with a solution for those problems. Because there are a lot of people out there who get motion sickness or get a headache from playing VR games. They will loose a lot of money when those people don't buy their games anymore. And of course when you wear glasses they will find a solution for that as well i bet.

Someday I'd love to have full 1:1 conversation with an A.I. NPC in a video game but I'd be content right now reading scripted lines in a headset. It's fun to think about but who knows if it will happen in our lifetimes or not.

I am not sure. You would need the ability to have voice actors say every single possible sentence in the entire universe, to be able to have a real conversation with them. That is unlikely to ever happen. You might as well make a real life roleplaying game, AKA, LARPing.

You are talking about the Matrix well maybe we are indeed all plugged in who knows.

But you are right that there are already a lot of machine's out there like drones and other things but as far as i know they are still under control by humans and not the machines.

Who in control doesn't matter, but the world today run by machines, without them human cannot live....just imagine the city you live in now (if you live in a city) run out of electricity, or there is an EMP shockwave attack, what will happen?

It will be chaotic....all the machines you use everyday and depends on not working anymore...supermarkets will lost much, all those wet food will be rotten fast, buildings will be unbreatheable to be inside, and will be hot, to get up or down 80 stories is like running a marathon, cars and vehicles get stuck on the road and maybe ramming eachother, peoples will get out their cars angrily and there will be mob everywhere, surveilence shut down means criminals are freely making crimes and the police cannot function properly, banks cannot functon, ATM machines not function, life support system not functioning (hospitals cannot function properly), water pump not functioning (sewer system, sanitary system don't function), computers shut down, no internet, no gamming ...ect ect ect

in 2 days the whole city burned out with thousands of deaths..

:(  Pauses while in the midst of lunch as eyes grow wide. Slowly lowers sandwich onto desk and then reaches to hug computer. "I love you computer  - I mean for a work computer, my gaming computer at home is so much better." :)

It is something we don't think about everyday because we simply don't care...we forgot how much we depend on machines to live, they didn't control us with AI but they already controlling our life because of our dependence on them...we are already slaves of the machines either we realize it or not...we are plugged into the machines in every seconds of our life...we are enslaved by our own creation

So let us all holding hands together, and going back to the nature, going back to how human supposed to live as the nature demands it...

:P

Your beliefs will only make you unhappy Qis. You're a gamer to the extreme extent that you post on a gaming forum when you're not playing.

You are never going to unplug and "go back to nature".

And that's fine.

Nature's not a real thing anyway.

Who knows maybe in the nearby future we the gamers are all connected to some kind of supercomputer who will come up with the sentences that we need in the language that we need it in and the voice ( fe/male ) that we need. We are already all connected anyway to the internet so that will be just a little step.

You paint a pretty dark scenario here when we do not have our machines anymore where we so much rely on. And maybe you are right that something like what you say here will happen. But let's hope you are wrong and that it will never come to that.

No i am not living in a city i'm living outside a small village way up in the mountains and i have to walk for about halve a mile and then i have a similar few as in Skyhold i have electricity and i have my own electricity when i am disconnected ( sometimes that happens in the winter with avalanches ).

In only two days time thousands of deaths that's pretty dark Qis.  ;)

This is a pretty dramatic scenario. The electricity tends to go off now and then for about an hour where I live and people get over it. Quite a few years back some storms messed with the power lines so my neighbourhood had no electricity for 3 days and there weren't any riots or anything. Human behaviour is unpredictable that way.

On topic tho: I think it would be fun to ask our own questions but it's probably a long time before that happens.

Yeah i think it would be fun to to ask our own questions and the technology is going so fast these days i'd say 10 years from now.  ;)

Yes it is dark indeed, and from the dark they came and found the Lord's Soul within the Flame...

For peoples who live outside cities, they will have not much problems, only those who live in urban areas will have huge problems living without machines.

I don't mean only part of the town without electricity, but the whole city, i mean NO ELECTRIC whatsoever. Maybe you and your neighborhood are fine...but imagine supermarkets, factories, police stations, hospitals, train/subway stations, banks...ect...without electricity none of these can run properly...imagine those foods in the fridge, ice cream melting, try to turn off your refridgerator for two days with all your foods in it and smell it...with no functioning fridge, foods cannot be installed, city dwellers don't get fresh food anymore...starving...in a week, everyone starved to death...traffic cannot run and everyone stuck on the road, foods and fresh water cannot be sent in...fire will be everywhere and fire brigate cannot pump water, and cannot be on time because of traffic jammed...peoples will be angry and desperate, attacking eachother for food and looting...

Just imagine the cities today without electricity to run it...that's all, it will be doomed...
