Hakkons don't give weapon kills. No staff kills is costing you xp.Ok so I am in the middle of a DPS Saarebas run with Hakkon. I have one comment and question so far.
1. I am surprised how little XP she is getting relative to the damage she is doing. I just had a FC run and I know she was responsible for 80% of the damage in the whole run and nearly the entire dragon damage. But she is coming in 2nd and 3rd to players that are doing a lot less. I am not jealous, just curious why this is happening. It seems counter-intuitive. Is there something I am doing wrong?
2. And as far as the damage now?Spoiler

That's not what I meant. I meant that as a DPS Saarebas I am surprised at how low the XP she is generating relative to others that are doing less. The staff has nothing to do with it.

Silly question, but does Cool Beats crit?
Sadly, no.
If it did, then the Cool Beats Virtuoso would still be one of the most viable builds for high difficulty. The advent of Hakkon weapons put an end to any offensive builds that don't rely on abilities that can crit.

It's probably because you aren't generating as much support XP when going full DPS. When I run a Saarebas, I still will mix in the group barrier on the finisher just to A: help the team and B: generate support XP.
For example I would do Opener=Itwa Adam Sandler, Flow=Electric Balls, Finisher=Group barrier. This usually generates tons of XP as the Adam Sandler hits multiple targets, upgraded electric balls generates team combos and the barrier will get support.

Just tried Virtuoso with Hakkon and Hot Licks ring. It's amazing. Plus it's ranged and safer.

Hakkon's Wisdom is going to make my Perilous Virtuoso game so strong! If I can get it... grumble
I tried Hot Licks/Ring/Fire Belt recently and it just didn't have the oomph of Power Chord/Ring/Storm Belt. I did like being at range, it just seemed like the baddies didn't melt as much.
Silly question, but does Cool Beats crit?
As Snakebite mentioned, cool beats can never crit. However, on perilous and below, I still think it is one of your best choices for an offensive Virtuoso. It's my favorite at least and I used to love power chord. And, the plus side for you is you don't need the Hakkon at all since it really won't help you here! Put on the Winter pact belt, take upgraded cool beats and non-upgraded little knight music skill, amulet of renewal, Heart of Despair (for lessening melee and ranged attacks because of low health from pact belt). Hit as many different enemies in a group only once and everything is dead almost instantly. However, magic attacks can ruin your day if your constitution is low. So watch out for fire wraiths and qunari swordsmen's fire flask attack and other similar attacks. Using the explode on kill staff is also fun since everyone loves explosions right?

Look what I just got in a chest! Woot! Gonna try it, Bitter Axe is pretty darn awesome. But will take it to fight a few fire dragons and see how it does. ![]()

Yes it is. One run and switching back. YUCK.
Also seems odd that it was such a lower DPS than Bitter Axe and its so bloody slow.

One step closer to the Crescent.
Guess that balances out the earlier 'bad luck' ![]()

Congrats Autumn. Unfortunately Rime, Bolt and Brand are all pretty underwhelming especially once you start playing NM and HB as every other enemy will be immune to all of the damage. Nothing beats good old physical damage as no one has immunity to it.
If it makes you feel any better, I have not gotten any new items in months.

So my verdict on Hakkon's Wisdom.
I had been using Wisdom with my Saarebas and was doing ok with it. That was until SilverSmurf invited me to some NM runs and all of a sudden I was fading and dying all over the place. And I haven't done that in a LONG time and I hate, hate, hate fading. For some reason, enemies were getting through my barrier. It was driving me nuts.
On the last run I decided to try going back to Pride and low and behold! That was it. Didn't get touched or hurt at all once after that. It's just that wee bit of extra speed that Pride gives you that allows me to keep attacking and raising my barrier just fast enough to stay ahead of the game.
I did about half a dozen more NM runs later and didn't get scratched once using Pride. So for now, Saarebas gets pride.
That being said, I did a few runs with Keeper and Wisdom and I saw a HUGE difference in the damage. Even on Perilous she was a menace with her chain lightning. I am going to alternate using Isana and Wisdom with her today to see which one I like better. Wisdom does more damage that is no doubt but Isana has some intangibles I like better.

How ironic is it tho that I'm not going to use it? I tried a run with both my Keeper and Saarebas and it just doesn't fit. For Saarebas losing the attack speed from Pride is just a HUGE downer esp the style I like to play. When I get much higher CON I might revisit it. As for my Keeper Isana's Song just suits her better and with the HUGE magic bonus and chance for additional chain lightning out weighs the Crit Damage bonus for me anyway. Again tho, once I double my CON might be a different story.
I am interested in what you all think?
i basically do the same thing, but use athlok blast's fire ability, then speed rings and barrier.
once your crit and willpower is higher, you will notice a HUGE difference between isana's song vs hakkon's wisdom. I HATED the fact that i got hakkon's wisdom 1st, because my crit was poo poo. now i wont use any other staff because the damage difference is just crazy.
sorry, not use to how quoting works on these forums. so i double posted
.
^This. Like all Hakkon's, the more promotes you have, the better they get. I think it was around 80-90 cunning that I started noticing a substantial difference. The speed of HoP can help when combined with the passive that reduces cooldown times...so long as your mana pool can keep up. I remember the HoP being a godsend for my Keeper as she seemed to be the slowest caster of the group, aside from the Necro. As GLeU mentioned (or implied), DPS based on attack/casting speed pales in comparison to brute force DPS based on critical hits. I suppose it's time to switch when the sheer damage of Wisdom outpaces the DPS of HoP...and you can stay alive to endure the seemingly painfully slow attack speed of Wisdom after switching from HoP. ![]()

Well I am up to over 600 now. Been grinding out more more NM matches. I find I like them best now. I did a two person NM run the other night. That was wild and tough. Was running with a super good player which helped.
One of things I promised myself I would do when I first started playing was to have a run in NM playing my Keeper. Last night that actually happened twice. Was so fun and thought I would never reach that point! Didn't fade either! WOOT! Haven't played her much recently, it was really nice playing her again esp now that I have more promotes.
Off all things I got a Staff of the Dragon (24) drop in a Threatening Dragon drop last night. Highest item I have ever got from a Threatening dragon,
Special thanks to Silversmurf, Sophloph and Russ4ua14 for all the invites.
Gonna try to bring up my Cunning numbers as they are the lowest which is great as I love playing Alchemist.
OH! And just got my THIRD controller since I started playing DIA. Between the 3000+ hours playing DAI SP and now this, they have seen some action!

congrats anyway, but as you find out: not all level 27 weapon are simply the hammer.
Watch for unique level 26 Valus Altredum and you will throw away Bitter Axe.

Up to now 99,9% of my games are PUGs. And believe me, it's good to be safe in PUGs.
Furthermore the permanent explosions are going on my nerves. Of course that is my personal opion.

I just tried inferno pact elementalist with Hakkon for the first time today too. 20K fire mine on RT knights is too good! I was playing with some pretty good players though so otherwise survivability might turn out to be an issue.
I like the belts but can only use them up to Threatening unless we have a good barrier spammer running with us.
Does anyone know, what the highest, fire staff is in DAI-MP?

So I liked the Elementist, Fun and some powerful spells. I can set him up very similar to how I use my Mage Inquisitor in the SP game so there is already a "muscle memory" in playing him which makes things easier.
On a side note, does anyone know why SteefPro dislikes me so much? Any time he comes to a lobby I am in he will leave immediately and if I join a lobby he is leading he will leave if I join. I have never talked to the person, so just curious.

Try AW with storm belt + Hakkon. One chain lightning : full barrier. 2-3 basic attacks also are enough.
Spirit guardian(or something like this in english) and fade cloak to protect yourself when out of barrier.
It's god mode on Perilous and very reliable even on NM.
