I want to give a big shout out to all the people who know how and do play good archers on MP. There is a clear art and science to it.  They often make or break a good match and when they do it right you hardly know they are there. Hat's off to the gals and guys who "notch it up" another level.

Today has been complete CRAP for me on MP. I have only been able to be about five complete run-throughs without some sort of network or server error!  Total shite....  If it stays like this I might stop playing.... one time we got to stage 5/5 and there was no place to put the banner? Just not there.... so we couldn't finish after getting that far. So freaking frustrating!!!!

AARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG!

Also, what character has the skill to keep generating a barrier for the entire part constantly regardless of how close they are?

I have seen this a few times now and can't figure it out.

Arcane Warrior? ^^

Got some bugs too. But its quite rare. Every 50th match or something like that. Well it sucks. Especially if im the host and lvl1 and the bug appears in area 3 or higher. Beeing kicked (or forced to leave because there is no way to suicide for the entire team) sucks because joining other games with lvl1 might be a problem.

(thats why i prefer to play the castle map. The dragon is a nice way to kill myself in case of bugs and i dont loose any exp - if my teammates suicide too ... otherwise its "unfunny".)

So... don't want to do this again...

I was levelling up my Keeper and running with another Keeper on a Dragon level.   The other Keeper died right at the beginning of the Dragon Battle and that left me solo with the High Dragon. The problem was, it was a Frost dragon and I had a frost staff and only chain lighting as a non-frost based spell...and I forgot to pack any good potions..... OMG..... each time the Dragon landed I was only able to get her down a wee bit because I only could really hurt her with the chain  lighting spell and the spirit rune on my staff. The wee ones I wiped out no problem so that wasn't an issue. THIRTY minutes later and the High Dragon was only half way down.... inch by inch... thank goodness a Silent Sister popped in to help at the end. I was NOT going to quit, no way no how, esp as the other Keeper was watching XD

OH and it was  Druffy castle crawl so two Keepers working their way through all of that took FOREVER to start off with so getting past all that crap I was NOT going to let that dragon win, even if it was the most boring battle in history lol.

heh you thought that was bad, try soloing the frost dragon with level 1 lego using rime (cold damage only sword).   As least I put a superb lightning rune on it. :P   I should have set the game to private since I was working on my sword challenge but someone joined and called the dragon.   And they died.. really?   I can't even kill myself... it was routine.....

BTW, the other keeper watching from the fade could be hoping that you will die fast so she could get the xp and start next match... just saying. :P

At least the dragon didn't do a fly by and never land on a tower because you did little damage to it.  Felt like it was laughing at all of us...

Why is it that in the character slot Silent Sister is labelled "warrior" and you don't get her Drake armour until you get the warrior chest but she promotes Cunning?

That is a long long story

The real question is why were we promised she would open warrior doors but it was never changed :P

Because of the way MP was put together. They wanted her to be a dual-wielding warrior, as I remember it, but weapon types are effectively locked to their respective class, meaning true cross-classing wasn't technically viable. So she's a dagger rogue with warrior abilities.

The real question is why were we promised she would open warrior doors but it was never changed :P

They almost had it worked out, but it came with too high a chance of causing a particularly nasty bug, so they scrapped it.

So 300+ games and some more questions and observations.

1. Thank you to all on here who have played with me. It's really fun, esp to you that have given me tips and guidance. I probably would have given up the game by now if not for you.

2. I find myself in a weird spot, once I reach level 10-12 now, Routine and Threatening are too easy (when running with a team) but Perilous is still a bit over my head. I suppose the solution is to keep grinding it out yes?

3. I really don't like the damn dark spawn with the machine guns repeating crossbows. They just seem so out of place and their difficultly to get by seems to be higher (relative to the level) than they should be.  I don't know, maybe its just me but it just seems some fanboy developer at BW got a stonner for guns and came up with a way to include them. They don't bother me so much in the SP game because the setting there makes a bit (a tiny bit) more sense but I just don't like them.

4. I am getting better at dealing with the Saarebas which makes life much easier.

5. When you do the dragon levels, does one (with or without the dragon) have more xp?

6. It seems to me (by casual observation) that the Orlesian Château seems to give the most gold. Is this true or just my imagination?

7. I have discovered a small glitch where I can get a gold pot to pay off 4 or 5 times but the timing has to be just right.

8. I had a 63 kill streak. I know to some of you "pros" out their this is small potatoes, but for as long as I have been playing I think its pretty cool.

9. I soloed a High Dragon on both Routine and Threatening already. (I know, I know small potatoes but made me proud, esp as it was with my Keeper)

10. I have played matches with all the characters now. They all have their fun parts and not so fun parts.

11. I had a real blonde moment when I started playing SS, as I was getting frustrated because "her voice wasn't working.". Ahem... we shall never speak of this again! :P

12. Now that I have played all the characters I have settled on the three I like most and play them extensively.

Keeper - Because I am one of the "radical Dalish nutters" And in the way she runs, she reminds me of Merrill, who is my all time fav DA character.

Assassin - Her voice "makes me tingle" and she is the one I had the 63 kill streak with. When I get in the zone with her, I just love it.

Templar - I love her voice and personality and she is much faster (generally) than the other warriors (SS withstanding tho she really doesn't count as a warrior) PLUS - I share a lot of traits with her. We are both gingers, we are both built like tanks, we both have a very similar accent and we both have suits of armour (I used to be a competitive jouster, way way back in the day)

I know, I know, everyone here probably think they are the weakest and most slow gaining XP in their class, but they are head and shoulders my favourites now and more importantly, the ones I do the best with when I play.

Well I guess I have rambled enough now. :D

Keeper is a really good support character (she gets outshined by the Virtuoso and Saarebas, but it's kind of hard not to be outshined by them), and she can do quite a bit of damage, provided you build her well.  Really good at generating support experience (had multiple matches where I ended up collecting more experience than the rest of the team while having a fraction of the kills).

Assassin is a really powerful build with the right gear, build, and playstyle.  Best way to use her is to flank enemies as much as possible.

Templar is really tanky, even for a S&S warrior.  Wrath of Heaven + Spell Purge deals massive damage to enemies that aren't immune to stun effects.  Guard generation isn't as easy as it used to be, what with Unbowed becoming Livid, but you can have Combat Roll instead which makes her that much more maneuverable.  In a tank roll, however, she isn't all that great.  Mainly due to her lack aggro-grabbing abilities.

I like all three of them too, but I prefer my Hunter purely because the playstyle I use is more fun and my Avvar because he's pretty much a walking nuke.  Keeper is probably my favorite mage, though.

2. I'd say save classes who dominate lower difficulties for Perilous, and just play smart with them, i.e., no facetanking and falling back to cluster enemies for AoE attacks and knockdowns. Otherwise, survivability = putting as much HoK as you can on them without throwing crits out the window.

3. Bolters are stupid. The only people who say otherwise are overpromoted or play much more carefully than I do. I think you may be right about whoever came up with them, though. Talk about cheapening Varric's one-of-a-kind Bianca.

5. Not calling the dragon yields more xp (there are 99 enemies in wave 5).

6. The number of pots/treasure rooms is the same, so the amount of gold should be as well. As for your gold trick, do you actually get the extra gold after the game? If so, I'd like to know more.

Anyway, you've a right to be happy with your potatoes, meaning nothing untoward, but if you play the game for fun then play whatever you like. Focusing on xp generation kills it for me. I just want to kill stuff.

tank roll

Please tell me this was intentional.

Yes my Keeper is almost always on the top of the after game list for most XP earned the group. Her AOE attacks and so forth really racks up the points. I wish they had included at least one fire spell as I like to have a variety of elemental spells so if I get a group of immune baddies I can still do a lot of damage. I currently use a frost staff (with guard and 28% HOK) although I have three others that are more powerful but being able to have the guard + grip + blade + rune is too hard to resist. So with her chain lighting, frost staff I always carry Antivian Fire just in case I need it.

You are in a tough spot.  At this point, you really want to be in Perilous but if you are doing PUG, you will have to get ready to carry.  This is the point where you really have to have a good number of friends on your friend list and jump into their games.

There are 2 easy ways (without much promotions) to deal with bolters:

1) Play Silent Sister with Wry Cry with Upgrade.   Wry Cry with Upgrade gives you invincible armor.  If you have flow of battle, you pretty much could keep that until everything is dead and take no damage.  Can do the same with Lego but just kill them slower.

2) Use Rock Armor Potion and try to kill them all before it ran out. :P

5. When you do the dragon levels, does one (with or without the dragon) have more xp?

Yes, and it is frequently used by people to fast track promotions.  You will also see that they will not kill the Qunari boss until the end because killing him will lessen the amount of enemies dramatically.

6. It seems to me (by casual observation) that the Orlesian Château seems to give the most gold. Is this true or just my imagination?

I asked the same question before and I believe the answer is that all of them got the same amount of gold pots and treasure rooms (except for FC), but the ones in OC is just easier to spot and on the path.   In the others, you have to go out of your way to get to them.

I see you in Perilous so like I said a bit out of league at this point, I have to stick close to someone who does a lot of damage to keep from dying, but I still rack up the a lot of points. In Perilous I also keep (get it "keep") an eye on other players fighting boss types so I can give them barrier support when things get dicey. I will often let myself get knocked out as long as the team ultimately can win the match with my support.

That will only work if you know ahead of time you will be fighting dark spawn. I have found that my Templar does super well with them as she just block them with her shield (get 100% guard) and while they are reloading she can wallop them. Stealth and my super, super, speed with my assassin she can usually avoid them but takes a while to knock them all out with the high armour. My poor Keeper tho.... rock armour helps but its usually sort of like this...

I used to think Keeper was mediocre until my friends taught me how to use mana surge. It's amazing'

It's also bugged on the virtuoso and gives him infinite mana.

FOUR matches in a row tonite, we battle through and it just happens to be Qunari and in 5/5 each time lost connection to network. So I wasted all that freaking time and nothing to show for it. Come on EA hire some god damn competent network engineers.  Really pisses me off.  /rant
