It goes by the challenges you completed and the amount of promotions you have, iirc

Each challenge has a value of 5 stars, one prestige point given for each star, and each promotion = 1 point

Are you sure?  It seems like I get 3 prestige points for some challenges, such as the agent challenges...

EDIT: Oh, you must be right, as I look at my total prestige and challenge points.  I guess it felt my a couple prestige points since I simultaneously promoted and got the challenge completed.

I think each successful HB match also get you a point or 2.... not sure on this though since I only completed 4. :P   I have lots of unsuccessful ones though LOL ;)

First 5 HB wins get you 10 prestige points each, nothing after that

Ah, didn't know that, thanks papa smurf. Lets say you are newer and haven't gotten many challenges done, you may get 3 or 4 challenges done in one match, e.g; complete x number of missions with the Assassin(agent challenge), kill x number of dragons on threatening(combat challenge), kill x number of enemies with a dagger, loot x amount of gold from fereldan castle, and maybe, oh maybe even kill 5,000 spiders AND 5,000 Undead in one match! OK, would never happen, but that would give you 6 points and even 1 more if you were able to promote after that match.

After say 20 promotions of each class you will most likely only complete one achievement at a time and promote every 5-8 matches depending on what level you play on. Routine averages I don't know how many runs/promotion, but I'd have to guess 20-30, threatening takes 14/15 average, perilous maybe 8, nightmare 3, heartbreaker no clue! So anyways, prestige shoots up to 200/300 in the first few weeks of playing, and thereafter becomes a few points per day until you can no longer move your thumbs to play the game, in which case use your face.

All I saw was a wall of letters and numbers.  Lets keep it simple people, some people like myself can only handle so much by the time Friday comes around.

Well, the short of it is that generally you get 1 point prestige for achievement, but you also get 1 point for banners, portraits and titles.  That I didn't know.

And 10 prestige points for each of the first five heartbreakers.

Yesterday I got a level 26 staff in a chest. "Isana's Song" OH MY GOODNESS! My Keeper up to this point has been using Yavanalis due to the hit on guard, but this thing.... *insert evil grin*  89 electricity damage, +41 Magic and +7 Willpower. Game changer for me anyway. What a nice surprise.

Yeah, that is a pretty nice staff, for sure.

That's strange.  I must have gotten like 10 Heart of Pride before I got Y's staff and then a long time after the Isana's Song.   Heart of Pride is so much better than either one of those though.

I have like a dozen Heart of Pride's but don't like them for my Keeper. My AW uses one tho and my Sarrebas uses Kingfisher. I don't know what it is, Isana's song just feels better with my Keeper and from what I tell does more damage per strike. I played my Keeper on Perilous today and she was a freaking force a nature. It was so gratifying after having to be so conservative with the other staves as they just don't seem to pack the same wallop.

I ran eight NM FC runs today (with Dragons) and four more without and NOT ONE FREAKING DROPPED CARD WAS ABOVE A 13TH LEVEL COMMON SHIELD. Not that I am complaining as I do like the gear I have very much, it's just the principle of the matter!

Ethical Question Time

So what are you feelings on ringing the gong in a public PUG?

Recently I have come across a few people (in PUGs) that don't want the gong rung (regardless if they are the leader or not). I have up to this point obliged just because I am a polite person (well as polite as a Scot can be). But now that I think about it, if it is a public match and not arranged ahead of time, I am not sure if I will oblige with this in the future. It is a public match (and everyone knows that before starting) and my feeling is if you want a match with specific things (no dragon, kill the leader last, don't stop for treasure rooms, etc) you should either work it out before you start of have a private match.

Thoughts?

Personally I cringe whenever I see the gong used :) purely because I've done enough of them and it's less exp.

However, if it's set to public nobody can have any complaints if the gong is rung.  It's a public match.... how else are people going to kill dragons.  That's the entire point.

I play however the host wants (even when 'kill the boss last' annoys the living hell out of me).  I see more and more long-time players starting a match but setting it to public for complete strangers to join, then expect them to do whatever they are told.

I'll kill some dragons with you but, as you have seen, the drop rate is utter crap even though the chance at your first Hakkon is set to 15%.......

Having a Saarebas use the Curse finisher will greatly speed up the fights.

Hope for the best, expect the worst.

I usually don´t ring it, because I slightly prefer regular boss, but if there are people trying to communicate they are interested in dragon(usually by standing or jumping in front of gong), but they don´t have call, I don´t mind using mine, since I have plenty.

Most of times someone rings it on their own, before I get to even think about it.

But I don´t have a problem with either, I like more xp from final boss, but I like to fight dragon as well, so... I won´t complain. And sometimes it´s just safer for group to fight dragon, because she´s easier.

Ring it every time. No mercy. Especially if you recognise them from high up on the leaderboard.

Personally more interested in game completions than promotions, so I usually just roll with whatever the host does. I normally start games alone, though, and you can guarantee I'll ring the gong since the dragon still has something I want.

Don't forget that host can ragequit if everyone in the party refuses to call the dragon after spamming get over here from the moment you step in zone 3...

my Sarrebas uses Kingfisher.

Definitely try the Sarebas with the Heart of Pride again.  It speeds up all the casting animations.  When I tried to switch to a different staff, I felt like I was wallowing in mud while trying to cast.

Heh interesting.  I have to gave it a try... my Isana's song is still in it's sealed box.. :D   On paper, HoP seems much better than IS, but there could be hidden properties.

<snip>

Thoughts?

Never on a first date. :)  (Well almost never. ) Mainly because crafting dragon calls is such a PITA. If I drop into a FC run I go with what the rest of the group wants. If the run is smooth after a call and the group stays together, I will happily make the call on the second run.

On the other hand, seeing someone jumping up and down by the gong is likely to get me sprinting for the door to Zone 4.

(Speaking of politeness, that's why I don't use a microphone. The torrent of abuse when something goes wrong needlessly is not fit for human consumption.)

I always prefer fighting the dragon oddly enough tho I inevitably forget to bring a dragon call one in three runs (if not more) and OF COURSE that's when everyone wants to call the dragon and none of us has one.   <_< MY stoopid fault there. Tho it is funny seeing four characters all jumping up and down at the gong in frustration.

If you done all perilous dragons challenges, don't waste the hammer. You can always win the game by camping at the stairs, even with low promotion team,

On nightmare... Well, you may have better chance to get Hakkons from store chests than from the dragon, but some fractions can be very annoying on nightmare for low promotions people... :)

I always have few of them in case someone needs dragon.
