*sigh* I think they did a blog on Cole and his design, that should probably help, just google "Bioware blog" and once inside, just look for the entry.

Cole's outfit is really simple. Cole, the mage who died, had basically only rags left, and it's implied they were his only clothes. Spirit Cole looks identical, and he doesn't change outfits because "looking doesn't matter".
