ME: Trilogy - Is extinction of the races considered the cannon?

Just thinking out loud here.

In Dragon Age Inquisition Winter Palace (and in other places too) we got to see krogan heads (click here and here) mounted on the walls.

Considering the fact that Dragon Age comes much later than Mass Effect in the cosmic timeline (just figuratively speaking) can we say that Reaper actually eradicated the current cycle (the cycle where Shepard lives and does stuffs) like they have been doing countless times.

Dragon Age archaeologists just found the remnants of the races long annihilated and had no idea what is what, assuming none has retrieved the Liara's beacon yet.

If we are playing DA - then can we assume that Mass Effect Trilogy actually had a grim ending as a canon? Or am I missing something here?

Please guide.

(there is a same thread on ME: Andromeda forum by me. Not for trolling - just here to gather some valuable inputs. Apologies if I have broken any forum rules)

Not sure if trolling or not, but those are two separate universes. what you found are easter eggs from the devs.

Appreciate the inputs - Easter eggs or no.

But if I want to tread on a serious note - is that a viable possibility that the cycle actually ended with extinction level events?

You are reading way too much into simple easter eggs left by the devs. If you want to entertain the serious notion, there would be no possible way to tell at all.

While it is possible I don't thinj=k so because they'er 2 seperate universes plus we know very little about MEA's story yet.Once more info isout on that maybe we'll have a bigger picture but personally I prefer to treat them as 2 seperate stories and not connected in any way other than for the fact they're both created by the same company

It's just an easter egg, they are not the same universe, if that would be the case, we also could say that Plants vs Zombies is taking place on Thedas.

But why would Dragon Age come after ME?

If that was so, how did magic happen?  How are there demons and the fade when neither exist in the Mass Effect universe?  And digging up a Krogan would result in a skull or fossil, not a stuffed head with the fleshy bits still intact.

I don't buy into it, they're just easter eggs.

It's just a fun easter egg.

But it kinda works if you wanna headcanon some sort of cross over between the games...heh. Dragon Age could take place in a post Destroy or Refuse timeline far into the future. Maybe the other races aren't all extinct but just scattered and cut off from each other now with no mass relays and tech to travel. It's a galactic dark age, but there's some remanants of alien tech left behind, which the ancient elves probably knew about.

Lyrium could be related to element zero. The weird dream sequence with Sephard and the kid could have been the fade, unbeknownst to Shepard. The Ardat-Yakshi seem like they have an ability sort like blood magic, as did the original Leviathans who enslaved other races through mind control. There's definitely space magic in ME. There were also dragon shaped reapers in ME (also probably an easter egg), so they could have been based on some extinct or known species from another part of the galaxy.

The Dawn Will Come- Thedas has a weird folk song they sing about a shepard being lost and looking to the stars. Solas is like the Shepard/Saren/Illusive Man of the current cycle.

Etc.

It's an easter-egg. But, when have I ever refrained from debating how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?

What makes you think DA comes after ME? Most people think Star Wars comes after the Lord of the Rings, because spaceships and stuff are futuristic, right?

But, as this music video explains so well, Star Wars is Not The Future.

Who needs a video?

I know, but it's set to such a catchy tune!

More likely a small group of krogan accidentally crossed dimensions and ended up in Thedas. Their technology ceased to function for some reason, possibly because they were based on physical laws that no longer apply in this strange magical realm.

Over the centuries, they were mistaken for invaders by the dwarves or beasts by the Orlesian nobility and hunted down.

That, or the krogan heads are just silly Easter eggs.

That cross-over post was a lot funnier.

What's to debate? Everyone knows the answer is 7.
