So I'm romancing

Spoiler
but even after completing his personal quest(s)
Spoiler
there's still barely any party banter or comments....

There's been two, and I'm almost done with the game (I'm pretty sure)....

Varric said something along the lines of 'so... you and the inquisitor huh?' and then basically asks for more details for his novel,  IB replies with something like 'that's between me and her behind closed doors.'

Other than that, the only one who has said something is Cassandra.(About locking the door). Is this really it? It makes me miss DA1 where there was a whole lot more banter/comments on your relationship going on... even DA2 had a lot more.

Am I missing something? Who should I be bringing with me in the party?

I tried to find other posts regarding this, but no one really mentions IB. Is he not a popular romance option?

I don't know if IB is a popular romance option but for me all the companions where i had a romantic relationship with were somewhat disappointing.

Cole has something embarrassing to say, have you had him in your party much?

Cass and Bull have a couple romance related banters other than the lock on the door. Cole and Sera have one as well, and I think that's it. I found being in a romance with Cassandra has a lot more romancer related banter than others.

Maybe I'll try to bring Cassandra more often. Do Cole and Sera have to be in the party at the same time? Cause I've had them in my party previously, but neither of them said anything. Sera only made a comment when you go and talk to her back in Skyhold. It does seem like Cassandra (for male Inquisitor) and Cullen (for female Inquisitor) is who they are pushing romance with if want to most banter/comments/fan fluffiness... which is kind of sad. Why give us so many options for different romances....

I've had him a few times, but I gave up cause he's so quiet. Whenever I do a quest where I help someone, he just comments on how it feels good to help or whatever... Maybe it's a bug... all my party members seem very quiet. Or maybe I'm behind in the side quests so they got nothing to say?

That seems to be the general consensus. Although it seems as though Bioware pushed Cullen for female Inquisitor and Cassandra for male... from what I've read, there's a lot of banter/comments if you're with them....

No, they do not have to be in the party at the same time with each other. Getting banter to trigger at all is a right pain in the ass. I spent over 10 hours trying to get all the romance banter to trigger last time I did one. Because it's random they will banter about other things before they get to the romance banter.

All companions have banter regarding romances, it's just so far between with so many sets of dialogue that it takes time to hear them. I don't think I ever got more than one or two comments from companions about my romance choice in any playthrough.

If you really want to know the various banters, you can look on his DAwiki dialogue page and do a browser find for "romance." That should take you right to all of them.

Almost all of the followers have a remark about the romance, but it is usually just a single remark. Dorian and Bull do not appear to comment on each others' Inquisitor romances, which I found odd, despite the fact that they can hook up together if not romanced. I don't see why that should matter.

Since it usually is just a single remark, if you play with a regular crew you will only hear those limited lines. However, if you switch people around frequently, you might also have to wade through other banter before you get to the romance ones. My suggestion would be to stick with a regular crew so you can hear all of their banter together, eventually leading to the romance banter.

I'll add that it can bug sometimes. Even though I don't have the other various banter issues reported on the forums, I have NEVER heard the Cole banter about the Dorian romance. In fact, it seems that few Dorian-mancers have for some reason, if I am to judge by the Dorian thread remarks about it.

So, you never know, really. Good luck.

I had trouble getting banter as well. So I probably suffered from the dreaded banter bug. And it seems Cheat Engine 64-bit with the v49+banter cheat table was the solution. Now, I can just let them talk on command in most places by the press of a button. Well, it's said you have to ram said button multiple times to get it to trigger, but I've found that if I keep it pressed it works just as well.

Only for PC though. Not sure if consoles even suffer from that bug.

Edit: Also, there's not a whole lot of romance related party banter, sadly. For Solas I only got 3 quips. One from Sera, one from Cole and one from Cassandra. And Cassandra doesn't even do it on purpose, she's just asking Solas about the Inquisitor's missing Vallaslin.

What? Awesome! I have been suffering from the banter bug since I got the GOTY edition, my standard edition was fine...strangely enough, but you can't go back. I looked online for a solution, but to no avail. Thanks Baboontje, will try those on my next PT.  B)

A Cheat Engine Tutorial I found very usefull.

The Cheat Engine I use is 6.4 btw, not 6.5. Don't know if it really matters but if it ain't broke....

And here's the Cheat Table

Bug, if we want to call it that, alive and well on console. Was so happy to be able to use that cheat table when I switched from console to PC. I can get through the game very quickly so I'd not hear a lot of banter, and that always made me sad. I'd want to finish the game as fast as I can, but still enjoy all the banter. Now I can push the button while I speed my way through zones. Saves lives I tell ya.

Thanks everyone for all your replies! I appreciate it. Just as I turned off the game last night, I quit just as Bull was saying something.  Typical.

Hopefully when I load the game now, he will continue where he left off.... If not, guess I'll have to read about all the dialogue online.

I really find this situation disappointing. I remember all the comments Wynne made in DA1 if you were romancing Alistair... She had a few hilarious ones.

Even Mass Effect has more, but maybe I'm not remembering correctly.

PS. Bull didn't continue saying whatever it was he was saying after I resumed the game.  :(

Same here i tried to get IB and Dorian to hook up together but i gave up. Most of the times they say nothing at all and then i mean all of them.

In my experience, the banter on the romances was fairly slim and that seems to be the general consensus. What's weirder is that after you beat Cory, all the people including your romance option turn into lifefless zombies and say nothing at all but 'Hi'. I was astonished that Cassandra said merely 'Hello, Inquisitor."

Hello, what!?

I'm thinking Bioware could have added maybe a few lines here and there, I'm sure I'm not strange for playing the game after the main boss. Also, the animation of the kiss or whatever, why remove that? Or just 2 extra spoken lines. Come on. Or even a messenger bird with the random love note, maybe?

Maybe the modders can fix this . . .
