I am working on integrating Charlie's Item Appearance Changer into our campaign, and everything works fine, except that I am unable to get it to finalize the the appearance changes in game.  There is proper money on the character, the selection screen properly cycles through equipment, the dummy item is placed in inventory, the checkbox that you need to click properly highlights - then... for some reason, I am unable to actually click said button.

I have tried several other modules that use this mod, and they work just fine.  It appears to be some sort of UI issue directly related to the campaign I am working with.

could be anything. A duplicate file or redundancy of some sort springs to mind, but you may have to trace things through manually, step-by-step

1. Did you try turning 'costs' off?
2. Did you try the extended version?

Thanks for the reply!  A duplicate file - hrm.  I seem to remember a line where you could comment out a row to disable the cost, I will go try that and see if it helps.  Mechanically speaking it seems to be doing everything correctly except the final purchase.  The button highlights correctly and indicates it's OK to purchase, it does not read the mouse click for whatever reason.

I grabbed every file they had for download over at the vault, unless there is another version somewhere else.  I do notice some odd flickering in the UI when I move the window in the version I have installed, which noticeably does not happen in the modules other folks are using it in - such as Maddragoth's Castle.

I imported the .ERF and added the custom UI to my campaign folder, keeping it in the directory it came with.  I do see some archives here with large numbers of files and directories, it looks like an unpacked version of everything I imported - no instructions on the author's part on where it goes however.

extended: Jake Zahn added blueprints. It required additional scripting - but having taken a look i don't think it's relevant to the GUI.

[original: Charlie's Item Appearance Changer]

It's been a long time since i worked through this stuff ... one thing to keep in mind whenever dealing with script-calls from GUIs: the scripts are compiled in realtime before they run. This becomes an issue, especially but not exclusive for PWs, when a GUI-script uses #includes. So if you have two different #include-files

eg.
vn_inc_constants.NSS
vn_inc_gui.NSS
vn_inc_main.NSS
vn_mda__inc.NSS
vn_mda_gui.NSS
vn_pc__inc.NSS

(those are from my installation of the extended version, btw, yours might be different - but unlikely) you could get a bork there and so should make sure there's only one of each.

Further, the file that handles the OKAY click is vn_item_appearance_changer.xml, which calls the script gui_vn_mda_make_changes.NSS ...

note: don't let your hardrive get cluttered. For example, in the original version 1.05b, I see there are two folders:
charlie-mda - scripts
charlie-mda - scripts - free

It looks like only one of them should be used, depending on whether you want cost/no-cost changes.

Thanks Kev!  You got me to the bottom of both issues!

Issue 1 Resolution:  I've been working on this module for four years - apparently I had tried to strip an older version of the appearance changer from Wolverheim at some juncture, and there were some pieces of it still lurking in the module.  I failed to get it running at the time, tried to revert back, but I left some bits in place.  I had completely forgotten even trying over the past few years.  I'd have never figured this out if not for your help - thanks!

Issue 2 Resolution: I have an "ultimate test character - cleric/bard/fighter/mage lvl30, with super cheated gear that maxes every skill at 45 so I can test dialogs and traps and such with one character.  He has almost every quest item from every popular module, and an inventory full of various things - (this character can test almost any skill or ability check at any level, since I can strip items and lower ability scores/skills on the fly), and he has nearly every active feat thanks to gear.  His inventory was so full of items, (two empty slots), that it was causing his gear to be dropped on the floor by the appearance changer.  It inflicted miscellaneous bits of misery all throughout the process - cloaks vanished permanently, items flopped the ground, UI to get a weird skip on the edges of it  - and other nasty things.  I will see if I can append the disclaimer to ALSO mention the necessity having enough inventory space for every items you are editing.

Thank you very much for the help!  Another bullet point down!
