I have read various guides, checked the wiki, but nothing I have found has been too clear on the matter. Does anyone know exactly what I need to do to acquire this schematic? Is it just as simple as being a pious Andrastian, or is it more complicated than that?

Do you have Trespasser installed?

Yes, but it's not as simple as just having the DLC. You have to perform certain actions while playing through the main game.

1) You have to be faithful Andrastian.

2) While judging Ser Ruth pick Divine Forgiveness.

3) Complete war table operation that follows it (apparently you need to do this with Leliana).

Or, if you have possibility to do that, ask someone for save with it, so you can sync it with your Golden Nug.

1) This is where im having trouble, how do you be a true Andrastian? Just be nice all the time, pick diplomatic dialogue responses, and say, Yes, I am the Herald of Andraste?

3) Not an option, I have no offline friends who play Dragon Age.

Yeah, unfortunately game ties your belief in the Maker with believing in being the Herald (one of the biggest reasons why I'm hesitant to play faithful Inquisitor). So the safest way to get faithful Inquisitor would be agreeing whenever "do you believe in the Maker" and "do you believe in being Herald" stuff come up.

Are you on PC? There are save files on Nexus with all schematics.

Okay, thank you, this is a big help. I'll be a good little Andrastian until I get the schematic, then it'll be right back to, f**k the Chantry, the Makers not real. :)

And no, unfortunately, I play on PS4.

BTW does it matter if you side with the Mages or the Templars?

As far as I know, it doesn't matter.

I got it in my previous playthrough. When talking with Cassandra, I told her I believe in the maker when she asked me in Haven. Any other dialogue that has the maker in it, I chose it. Don't know if that's what makes the difference. Just to let you know. I chose the templars in that playthrough

That's not entirely accurate: whilst you do have to believe in the Maker, you don't have to outright state that you are the Chosen of Andraste. So long as you don't categorically deny being the Chosen you are left with a fair amount of room for self-doubt or uncertainty.

Maybe. I just know from my experience that once you state you believe in the Maker, most - if not all - options to say you're not the Herald disappear. You can avoid picking options which lead to you declaring "I'm the Herald", but you're not allowed to deny it if you believe in the Maker.

It does give you more options than just 'I believe in the Maker and I was Chosen by Andraste herself' though, which can be a little restrictive when it comes to rp. There is plenty of room for doubt and once certain plot points have been passed, the option to 'come clean' about who saved you in the fade can be taken and still have the opportunity to acquire the griffon plate.

I'm not trying to disagree with you, just trying to make clear that you don't have to rp a fanatical Andrastian in order to gain the schematic.

Oh wow, I didn't know this was a thing! What other cool armor schematics are available only from a specific war room chain of actions?

You can only get the Dancer's Axe Schematic if you send Movran the Under to Tevinter.

What Gilli said. Plus schematics:

Griffon Mail for Contact Hero of Ferelden (you have to have Hero of Ferelden alive)

Griffon Robes for Destroy Darkspawn Outbreak (last war table mission in a chain of missions that appear after letting Wardens stay)

Prismatic Greataxe for Learn More about Dragons (Frederic of Serault as an Agent and complete Breeding Grounds)
Blade of Tidarion for Stop War Between Nevarra and Tevinter (as far as I remember, you have to complete it right after it appears on war table)

Those are of course only schematics added with Trespasser (mind you, not only schematics were added as new rewards for war table operations). Base game also have a few exclusive schematics, but most of them are also available as random loot or/and in store.

I know what you mean. After Trespasser came out I spent 3 days checking out all war table operations on all my pts to see where I can get something new

Think like this, you complete it one time and then you can forget it even exists.

Sigh, okay.

So is there a way to favorite a post on this forum? That post with all the schematics detail is super useful and I suspect I won't be able to find it when I'm finally in a poaition to use that information.

There's "Like This" button in bottom right corner of the post. If you want to find post you liked later, you can do that through your profile.

Thanks Rascoth. Gilli-chan that would be way too much effort as those pages contain absolutely every schematic! The earlier poster wrote down exactly what is needed - no more no less.

I can finally confirm that gaining this schematic is surprisingly easy, and even straightforward. You dont have to do anything major, you can pretty much play as you like, you just have to keep confirming that you are the Herald of Andraste, and that Andraste loves us, blah, blah, blah. Then, when you get to judging Ser Ruth, say that Andraste forgives you, then have Leliana complete her following War Table Mission. Job done, the schematic is yours.

Oh, and if you're a Mage, do have fun making Erimond Tranquil.
