What kind of black science is this?!Ladies and gentlemen, I have found the solution to all our problems.

And, be prepared for the "Earth" planet the humans will settle on... to not be at all filled to the brim with lifeforms that will cause mass deaths of the colonists. It'll be... "found planet for humans" "colonize" "win".
It could be possible most of the people stay on the ship. Depends on the state of the galactic region we're visiting. If it's too hostile, it may not be safe to stick people somewhere. But I could also see it happening. I just am curious how many people are traveling with us.

And yet all better too.
Well, maybe not Stargate and Halo.
Nah. Stars Wars can't even be compared with ME or Battlestar, different genres, different ways of handeling things. As far as i'm concerned Star Wars is pure fantasy with technology. The films also didn't dabble much in the way of Alien cultures, politics, technology or genetics. The extended universe does that to some extent. The movies are a much different story however. LOTR with Lightsabers pretty much. Even the way the force is described (or atleast the way it originally was described before the bullcrap with midi-chlorians) is more mystical than science based. Bioware may not have given the most comprehensive explanation for biotics, but there's nothing mystical about them. No visions of the future, no being conscious after death or any of that other magic stuff the force has pulled over the years lol.
But on topic. You guys expect too much from video game developers. Video games have not quite yet reaced that level yet. Anyone who actually wants to tell a comprehensive story will more than likely write a book not develop a game. Standards are different. Of course there are exceptions, but even some of the best written video games are still filled with many holes. Devs tell stories in the best way they know how. It wasn't too long ago that the majority of video games didn't even have plots.

A few centuries in cryo and they should be there.
Reason for Andromeda... Lots of opportunities for new territory in such a big place.
And yes, if Eezo is natuaraly occuring in the milkyway then it wouldn't make sense if it didn't in Andromeda. It's the same universe, the sciences and natural laws etz should be the same.

It takes light millions of years to reach Andromeda.... I think it'd be a bit longer than a few centuries...

It was calculated that it would take a ship with Reaper-equivalent drives approximately 231.5309 years to reach Andromeda, and a ship with our cycles' drive(ignoring the drive discharge issue) approximately 463.0618 to 578.8273 years.

The math is right. Hmm. Interesting. If we leave post reaper war, we could be using their technology. With 231 years, I don't think cryo would be our form of transport. Probably just a couple generations or so on a spaceship. It'd develop it's own culture, economy, etc. It'd give them more material to explore in the story.

I still think they would use stasis pods, if for no other reason than to conserve resources for when those on board get to Andromeda. For example if they have a VI, AI, Geth, etc piloting the ship while the organics are in stasis, they won't need food, water, air, gravity, or even power other than to key functions, leaving all those resources for when they are searching for a suitable world and establishing colonies.

People used to say generational ships would yield humans who never lived on Earth or in the context of the rest of civilization, so it would be....offensive to send these alien, uncultured, rootless beings to represent ourself in alien worlds, or to rely on their interpretations of what they find once they communicate back to us.
But in Mass Effect, they have spacer colonies (people growing up off-world, in space). So it is then a legitimate upbringing, but still a limiting one.

Certainly a possibility. It's all a guessing game for now really. I didn't want to go too much detail about it in the video, mainly because there are still so many unknowns. When are we leaving, how're we getting there, why are we going, etc.

Yeah, to quote Dr. Mordin Solus "Too many variables.".
I'm hoping they answer those questions soon, like at EA Play or shortly thereafter.

EA play is a given, and they're confirmed to be at Gamescom shortly after.

I know, I meant that they'll answer how/when/why we get to Andromeda there, rather than keeping it secret until release and instead just show off gameplay(not that I would mind them showing off gameplay.
)

There has to be some story-based trailer EVENTUALLY... right?
