Hi everyone. Long-time lurker, first-time poster here.

One of the key functions of companions in DA is to provide different perspectives on the players actions and the events of the game. Furthermore their backgrounds often make them rich and valuable sources of lore. With this in mind what kind of backgrounds and perspectives would you like to see explored/represented in DA4/ future DA game companions? This can be a something that you don't think has been explored so far and would like to see, or it can be something you think would fit with likely future plot points.

Personally I would like to see a Human or Elf follower of the Qun as a companion, especially one who converted to the Qun rather than is born into it.

I think a non-Qunari Qunari character could add some new lore about what life is like under the Qun for a Human or Elf and for a convert. Furthermore I believe a character like this could provide an interesting perspective by combining the devout Qun worship of Sten and the knowledge and experience of life outside the Qun of Iron Bull. Someone like Gatt in DA:I would be good, but Tallis imo is more of a maverick than I would like to see in this character.

In addition to the above I think a companion like this would work well if the game is set in Tevinter. Given Tevinter is at war with the Qunari it might be hard to justify a Qunari not getting attacked by everyone, whereas an elf or human could avoid detection.

I suppose a lot would depend on how the PC is introduced; are we connected to Tevinter in some way, perhaps as a former slave or are we totally an outsider?   Has the war between Tevinter and the Qun already started?     It would certainly make a difference how the companion character interacted with you.    If they are a Qun agent, they would not want to reveal themselves until they could trust you not to betray them.   So they would more likely be critical of the set up in Tevinter, without promoting the Qunari alternative.

I certainly would not want Tallis as I found her annoying.   Gatt or someone like him would be more interesting because whilst he admits that there are aspects to the Qun he would like to change, he seems unapologetic about his loyalty to the organisation.   I just can't see how such a person could be part of your squad if they had admitted to their loyalties, unless you had been required to opt for supporting one side or the other, or the emphasis was solely on stopping Solas and keeping under the radar so far as the ruling powers are concerned in Tevinter.    Nevertheless, it would be easier having a human or elf agent of the Qun than a fully horned Qunari following you around as that would stretch credibility too far.

If we are to see a new perspective on the Qun, I'd rather it be a full Tal-Vashoth's perspective or the perspective of someone from the Arigena, which is the only part of Qun society we have not heard from yet.

War between Tevinter and the Qun never stopped, Teviner is reason why Qun didn't conquer Thedas. Tevinter and Qun always at war. Tevinter never signed treaty. And I don't want qunari companion, I would like not even tal-vashoth. I want Qunari who born outside of the qun.
