Since we are leaving the old Milky Way behind us and entering new unexplored space, in a vibe similar to old Westerns, the issue of how we shall proceed with the colonization of this new galaxy, specifically the issue of the natives arises.

How do you think we shall proceed. We are attempting to establish homes and make new lives for the residents of the Milky Way, but if human history is anything to go on, colonization is usually a one way street. Will we be the Federation of Star Trek? Exploring new worlds and finding new forms of life? Or will we be the Empire of Star Wars? Crushing and dominating any opposition?

Not to mention how we interact with the other colonists. What if one side favors diplomacy while another seeks war? Do you attempt to alleviate the crisis, or does civil war break out? How do you handle criticism?

These issues and more I hope make into this new game for a brand new galaxy full of potentials.

There are already quite a few threads about the topic, rather long ones too.

Pretty sure Bioware isn't going to set out to make "Ethnic Cleasing: the Game". I'm actually quite curious to see how Bioware will pull this off without having the whole thing descend into a moral parable about the evils of imperialism or just be rife with unfortunate implications.

They'll cooperate, if they know what's good for them.

From the people who brought you the SSV Daddy Issues? Then again there is a whole lot of child killing with accidental implications in that game too.....

This reminds me of something I've suggested here before: I think it would be interesting if the game positioned us as the underdogs in Andromeda, with the native species doing their darndest to keep us the hell out. In all the chaos and desperation wrought by the Reaper war, what are the odds that humanity will be sending its best over there? :)

That's why the Krogan are coming.

I'd like to see a story about conquest, but knowing BioWare, it's probably going to be an allegory of the European refugee crisis, with the humans being the refugees of course, cause we're totally always the good guys.

And there we have abuse of aliens by the good refugees!

I learned we are operating solely in the Helius Cluster, which is only a small portion of the Andromeda galaxy. But the area is apparently larger than the galaxy of the Mass Effect series. I like this. Focusing on a single portion of space with loads of places to roam. Smaller but more freedom.

Conquest or cooperation? Maybe choices of whether you would conquer or seek to cooperate in regards to the colonization of certain planets, depending on context of why we are colonizing this particular planet over others, hostility of other alien species etc.

I'm looking forward to seeing how BioWare depict humanity and the rest of our crew's relations with these new alien species, as long as its not what we've seen before like humans-asari humans-turians etc.

In that sense, knowing we have a krogan and likely other species from the Milky Way joining us, I wouldn't want to see the same human-krogan hostility, or generally just the same attitudes the other Milky Way species have towards one another. We've seen that enough in the original trilogy I'd argue, and given the sense of our mission in Andromeda, it would be nice to see the Milky Way species cooperate more and there be more friction between them and whatever Andromeda has to offer.

Yeah, I was always felt abit disappointed that we never really got to see much of the MW outside of the Council space/reaper influenced parts of the MW. I always wondered what else might be lurking in our own galaxy ingame.

It does leave the door wide open in terms of the circumstances behind the exodus of the expedition. It could be that the expedition was launched before the ending of the trilogy, but it could just as easily be post victory/defeat of the reapers, the event of which awakened or drew the attention of, something else. The possibilities are quite exciting either way.

OT: I really do hope we get to make the choice between colonisers and conquerors. Would be fun to have that done and done well.
