No, that's BW's new artistic vision of the desire demon.

It wouldn't surprise me if they retrofitted it into DA:O and DA:KW to maintain a coherent artistic direction.

I like a good antagonist myself, and Solas represents probably the first in Dragon Age who isn't just A BAD GUY.

 

He's complex, you can like him and even love him.  That's a really interesting character to me, far far better than Cory.  So I hope that whatever happens, it's bloody good and not just swept under the carpet.  If you have the chance to stop him based on his relationship with the IQ, that'd be awesome. 

 

However Solas's story ends, make it epic.

Given how well most of his plans tend to work out, Solas will probably end up as a statue in front of a reflective surface, his last thought being that this should have gone somewhat differently.

I have no idea what my Inquisitor would do with Solas if they had the opportunity to do something with him. Maelyn Trevelyan would prefer not to kill him, but she won't let her world be destroyed because of him. She might be tempted by immortality for her, but that does not appear to be on the table. Ki'ina Lavellan shares his longing for the old world but would feel irrevocably tainted by getting it at the price of world-wide genocide.

In the end, both will attempt to kill him should that be necessary. It will feel like killing a friend, but that would not negate the necessity.

It's not for the faint of heart, or for the meek-minded, content to stay in the shadows of their gods for all their lives and never grow up, but as a rule I think stealing power from the gods is a virtuous undertaking, and I admire anyone who attempts it. If you end up with nothing lost and nothing gained, that's actually a good outcome, even if not exactly satisfying. My Inquisitor got entangled in the machinations of gods and lost an arm for it. It's galling, but it only makes her more determined to step out of their shadows.
