Nothing is ever "meant for" anything because nobody has the authority to define meaning for anyone else. Also, my main Inquisitor wouldn't want the role of the gods, she just doesn't want to be subject to their whims - which should be an understandable sentiment after Trespasser - and for that, she'll need the power to defy them. In addition, she wants humans (as individuals) to be able to shape their own fate, in defiance of the gods or their mortal representatives if necessary.
A mortal talent hits a target no one else can hit a god hits a target no one else can see.
In regard of the value of subjective "meaning" it doesn't matter you can believe what you want to believe in the end subjectivity is useless.
The Divine indifference will not care of what imperfect mortals want to believe but some belief are for certain more deep than others.
Your Inquisitor will never have the power to defy destiny and eternity.
Humans may shape their own fate in the end it is irrelevant, they will cease to exist while the Universe will still be there(even the god kings the Evanuris are not eternal)so hardly i'm impressed when someone expose to me the mortal determination of those who want power to be able to fulfill their own ambitions, especially when such ambitions are destined to die with them and are meant to be nothing compared to the eternity of their own death.
I'm the reversal of the like of Corypheus,Gaspard,Celine,Vivienne,Morrigan ecc...
Individual power means nothing because is destined to perish even when such individuals win against their enemies, beauty mean everything because it's concept is perpetual.
