Might the Remnant be Protheans?

So I know we have very little information so far about ME:A but we do know that we will encounter atleast two civilisations in Andromeda, the (possibly) friendly Remnant and the (seemingly hostile) Khet.

I was wondering what the possibility might be that one or the other might be Prothean in origin?

I know that vigil pretty much implies that the Protheans were taken by surprise by the reapers and that their defeat was pretty swift, so the odds of having time enough to build their own ark like exodus ship are slim to none, but there is the possibility, no matter how remote, that such an expedition was sent prior to the reapers attack.

Would you like to see the protheans feature prominently in Andromeda, maybe a small appearence as a nod to the original trilogy? Or is it time for the protheans to be left behind and forgotten as the failed civilisation that we came to love/loathe in the old series.

I think there is alot of room for some fun to be had by the writers in this respect, I personally wouldn't object to their reappearence. The name remnant certainly implies a former greatness now lost. It might also be grand to have the remnant serve as a cautionary tale of what might happen to an invading intergalactic force, particularly if Javik is an accurate portrayal of protheans (authoritarian dominators) Would make for an interesting formula maybe.

I'd also be fine if we never see them again. But what do others think?

We have nothing on the remnants so far these mysterious vaults give the impression of something similar to Protheans though.

Vaults? It'd be kinda hilarious to find a radio in them that would play "Crawl out to the Fallout ..." when activated.

The protheans may have been taken by surprise but I wouldn't call their defeat swift. At least not from a human perspective.

I can't deny I'd be intrigued to see how the protheans could be portrayed in this role, how their tech would evolve away from the MW and what their culture would be like. I often wondered if we could see Javik as an accurate representation of Protheans, considering he admits he was born post reaper invasion as a shock trooper to fight back. (gotta admit details are hazy as I haven't reached ME3 in my re-run, but it's a thought I remeber having at the time of release)

Ah, another universe cross over, add it to the list with DA content, Andromeda could be the dumping ground for the meta-verse! I wouldn't mind seeing a Mr handy about the ARK playing some good ol'time music for Ryder to enjoy.

True, as Javik is testimont. I did get the impression that large scale organised resistence never had much chance after the fall of the citadel but then we only really have vigil's word on that and the Ilos bunch quickly isolated themselves pretty sharpish.

I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility.. oooh, my tingly bits are excited!

Sadly, going by that leak compilation thread, it's gonna be less, 'Crawl out to the Fallout' and more, 'Collect these Shards... No, sorry, Star Keys' from around the various arse-ends of the Helius cluster, so you can progress through these formulaic dungeons in search of phat l00t.

I'm still massively excited about the game - pun intended - but all the template-based busywork set out in that thread - Khet Outposts, founding camps/'colonies', vaults, Star Keys and so on - has me somewhat worried that we'll be getting a lot of the less-than-excellent bits of DA: I along with the good.

Hope not. Protheans have had their run in the original Trilogy, let them go. It should be a new civilization. To go to a completely different galaxy and to find Protheans there to...that would be stupid.

This is what the game will become when the "expansion" in the foreign galaxy will reach its peak.

Remnants sounds like they could be Protheans to me.

Makes sense some might have abandoned ship and taken off across the universe when they realized the Reapers were a fight they weren't going to win.

Please. Spare me this pleasure. "What if Reapers went to Andromeda?" "What if Protheans went to Andromeda?" "What if Pyjacks went to Andromeda?" "What if Milky Way went to Andromeda?"

Let them rest and give space for something new.

Sounds like an adaptation of the Norse myth, the gods of Asgard vs the giants of Jotunheim.

I'm not going anywhere near a vault without Gortys, a Loader Bot, and a full team of Vault Hunters

Don't forget Claptrap. I for one was not surprised that he was the secret vault hunter. Telltale are such trolls.

In The Faded Sun trilogy, you have aliens inhabiting a planet but are originally from a different one. A number of Protheans might have travelled to the Milky Way from Andromeda. It may explain why they were all over the galaxy, like an invasive species. But it would be a great coincidence, considering how many galaxies are nearby.

I think it's less likely they would have travelled to Andromeda when the Reapers attacked because 50k years is not long enough to become remnants or to even arrive there.

I hope not. They could be. That might be the whole reason why they help. The Protheans wouldn't have liked the Reapers, so finding out they have been defeated might garner some respect from them. But I hope not.

I want them to be a species that are similar to the Leviathans. Not in size or power, but in situation. Rulers of the galaxy until the Khet, a rebel group that wants power, fights and defeats them. The remnants go into hiding and simply wait. Wait for an opportunity to make a move. That opportunity comes when we enter the galaxy. A complete unknown. Tech that is unknown. Strategy that is unknown. A way of thinking that is unknown. Lets say the planet we land on houses the largest group of Remnant left in the galaxy, and from there we learn about the galaxy, we gain an ally in the galaxy et cetera.

During the years, decades, centuries that the Remnant have been in hiding, they have been shoring up. Advancing their own tech. Building armies and weapons. Preparing for all out war. A force to be reckoned with. As we go through the game, we learn that the Remnant are not all that good. There is a reason why the Khet rebelled. There is a reason why they were the rulers of the galaxy before their downfall. As we reach the end of the game, we have cemented our place in this galaxy and now side with our new allies - some of the other galactic species we encounter - and the fight against the Remnant begins.

Do you remember what Ratch the trader of Tuchanka said about Pyjacks?? I'm 100% sure those vermins had manage to go to Andromeda. And they are defecating everywhere. Probably this will be the first Mission: kill them all

I would hope not. I don't believe this myself but if they were from the milky way it would be cool if they were the ones to disable a reaper with a single shot. Or... They could be Andromeda's protheans or leviathans.

I would love to see this.  Not necessarily as the remnant, but finding keepers that aren't brainwashed to maintain the citadel.  With all the lackluster games ME:A can't come soon enough.

I would not be surprised if they were somehow linked to the Protheans.
