I can't deny I'd be intrigued to see how the protheans could be portrayed in this role, how their tech would evolve away from the MW and what their culture would be like. I often wondered if we could see Javik as an accurate representation of Protheans, considering he admits he was born post reaper invasion as a shock trooper to fight back. (gotta admit details are hazy as I haven't reached ME3 in my re-run, but it's a thought I remeber having at the time of release)

.

I wont give you any spoilers but pay attention to what Liara is saying on Eden Prime, you're on the right track.

I think they should be the original Keeper race.

You know that is impossible, it ties too much to the horrible endings in ME3, and since this is the thing they're avoiding to do the most, you must say goodbye to the "remnants are the keepers" hypothesys and play whatever dreadful narration they will put you into.

Well, I think it was in the book Deception, that a prothean egg-like object was found to contain a star map that did not fit any known region of space in the milk way.  So the thought or idea that protheans made it to andromeda, is not wholly absurd.

Do I think they will have?  Did they find a way there?  Did an alien race make it to the MW from Andromeda?  So many questions.  It's nice to theorise and think on things.. but in the end.. does this increase the value of the game?  I mean, what if you think your version of how andromeda should play out is better than what the devs actually implement?  That'd be a shame to immediately be disappointed by the product.

I'm curious where they're going, but I don't want to get ahead of myself with wild, rampant speculation.  Might they be?  Sure.  Might they be not?  Sure.  So.. where did this get us?

And the protheans don't tie too much to the horrible ending of the last trilogy? You are going to run into that problem with just about any race the Reapers destroyed and/or repurposed from previous Cycles.

If the earliest rumored leak was legit, and at this point that appears to be the case, they aren't Prothean. That leak described them as looking sort of like

Spoiler

Whether or not that leak is legit, I wouldn't be surprised however if Bioware found a way to write Prothean characters into the story. I'd rather they didn't, but Javik was one of the more popular companion characters they created. It would be in keeping with how they usually roll if the Protheans are brought back because Javik was a fan favorite.

I don't remember that.  It's been a while since I've read the books though.  <runs to find kindle>

The Protheans were setup to be this awesome advanced race with great back story, but once I met Javik all that lore just fell short. So no, no more Protheans.

Of course, it's the same antiphony. The only thing they will do is not giving a direct link to any of the past installments, they will either invent something completely new or create a bond so faint that will be practically non-existent and people won't be aware of it.

Given that less than 1% of the Milky Way has been explored as of ME3, the idea of a star map not fitting "any known region of space in the Milky Way" is pretty meaningless.

Javik really isn't the best representation of his species. He even admits that.

He was born during the war, if I recall. He didn't get to enjoy the height of the Prothean empire.
