I apologize if there's already a thread about this, but I haven't played multiplayer in years, and after playing on PS3 I started on PC. What exactly are people doing during the missions when you have the deliver the packages? It sounds like they're spamming picking up and dropping the packages so they can run faster. I have no interest in learning this "cheat" (so please don't ban me!), but I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed this and how long this has been going on.
Question...

^^^^^^^ it is not considered a "cheat" anymore..... Running with the pizza ( package ) is just a clever use of in-game mechanics. Don't ever worry about getting in trouble....game wize.. there are no more bans when it comes to the actual game.. as far as posting here is concerned...just make sure your kitten gifs are on point son. Welcome to this forum... and welcome back to the game.

It's not cheating, the devs called it "clever use of..."
I believe the concept has been around longer than ME3MP has. The ability to do so has always existed in ME3MP.
It's actually rather difficult to do under various circumstances. (notably lag and asari/flight kits)
There's a bit of unnamed etiquette to it now.
-You let the host run if the host will run it.
-Run behind someone that's trying to run it but is lagging. (There's a distinct difference to the rhythm. On host is very fast, lagging is slower.) and when they drop it, usually around a corner, you can pick it up and finish it/vice versa. Don't be pissed at the guy behind you that picks it up when you drop it. The point is to get it there faster.
-Don't stand in the way.
-If you can't run it because you lack the skill to do it, leave it for someone who's demonstrated they can do it.

Will you PC guys stop cheating one day ?
Clearly no ! ![]()
As Nightman said, running with the pizza is common on PC. It's not really a cheat, but rather a "clever use of game mechanisms", according to the Bioware staff himself. Everybody can use this trick without modding the game.
By the way real cheaters don't risk anything either, there are no longer ban waves since the support for this game is over.

if they keep dropping it it's not to go faster it's because the connection sucks. teehee.
thus hosts should always take responsibility of running with the pizza , but usually they are too busy getting their score up. ..stupid hosts.

I've seen people running with their pizza on PS3, too.
And I'm not talking about light melee Krogans or backwards dodging Asaris.
There is a guy called XAN, how told that it should be possible with most characters on host. But I never could manage to do it.

It may just be my general scrubbiness, but I don't find it easy to do while using the Controller mod for PC. I can replicate the speed of a dodging Asari though.
Like others have mentioned, I don't find this to be cheating. Running the pizza is good - but it also prevents you from defending yourself and keeps your head down, which can also be problematic. 6/6/6/6/6 should be frowned upon more.

But in a game, if you can, you better make sure you get there first.

Yup, it's just a neat lil trick. Yummy and Pearl were quite efficient last night at this.

Ok! I wasn't sure if it was considered a cheat or not. Good to know. I doubt I'd be able to master it, anyway, though haha. It sounds tricky.

One beginner to another, there is a knack to it. It's in the timing. But once you get the rhythm it works a treat.

Keyser Söze is now a BSN peer, welcoming and patiently explaining the basics to new comers ;p !

Perfectly "legal" according to the devs. The way I understand it, on console you hold A (Xbox) or X (PS) to run. The second you let go, you stop, zero delay. On PC, you hold spacebar to run, and I believe there is a .25 second delay from when you release to when you stop. Not too noticeable when you're running around, but also allows you to run by tapping spacebar after you've started running. You do need to hold spacebar for a second to get started running, but once you've started you can tap spacebar to keep going. Since spacebar is the "one button to rule them all" and also interacts with objects, this allows you to keep picking it back up when you drop it because you're running.
To expand, on console, if you are walking with the package, and start to sprint, you'll drop it. Same thing happens on PC, but if you run by tapping spacebar, you'll pick the object right back up. So the cycle continues over and over, allowing you to run with the package. You do need to be looking slightly down so your character can "see" the pick up prompt, and there is a rhythm to it so you don't NEED to just slam the spacebar (although I do because I'm white and have no rhythm).

*shrugs* I wasn't sure. I just remember the days back when bans happened all the time so I wanted to err on the side of caution when posting about it.

I still bump into Hydra glitcher chumps alot, that's lame as fook tbh, that's cheating.
Still can't run with the pizza right myself, I'm jelly of those who make it look so effortless. ![]()

I actually did bronze solo's to figure out how to run it before I was confident enough to "attempt" it in a real match.

So, you must've not paid attention then or something because people that were banned were banned for actually, you know, cheating.

Absolutely, I had to figure it out the rhythm. (I might've lied about the caring/confident part
)
