What About the Possible Dragon Age Tactics?

I know this is probably a long way in the future, but it's fun to speculate. :)

I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy Tactics, Fire Emblem and XCOM, so it would be cool to see something along these lines in the Dragon Age universe. It opens a lot of possibilities too, like revisiting previous regions or places that they don't plan to set a game for a while.

Personally, I think there's a lot that can be done in Anderfels. Specially with the Grey Wardens. We could have a game based on the reconstruction of the Grey Wardens (which we already had a main game, so this would avoid repetition while being a fresh take). We could get some cameos, as there's a good amount of Grey Warden NPCs, and these games usually have those special units. Heck, if not voiced, it would be the perfect place for a Hero of Ferelden cameo.

What do you guys think? What would you want to see?

I'd rather see a Dragon Age Roguelike.

I'm excited by the possibilities! One thing they could do is use it to explore the history of Thedas that we haven't seen before - have the campaign centre around Andraste's march against Tevinter, or one of the first three Blights, or an Exalted March. The war between Tevinter and the Qunari also seems like an obvious subject, whether contemporary or historical.

The problem is that the team had produced two sequels to make DA more action-based. Now they seem to want to go back to totally strategy-based...

I think the idea is that it would be a spinoff type of game with its own self contained story. Probably fairly low budget in comparison to DAI.

I'd love it if they set such a game around the time of Andraste and fleshed that story and era out more. Sure we know the ending, but the game could be about the journey.

I don't want it at all, which I already stated in that other thread.

Should it be produced, don't buy it. Seems a simple enough solution.

^ No, it's not, because it is using money and resources that I would prefer go to an actual DA RPG game.

Also, I'm sure that it would end up being connected to a DA RPG game in some way, whether it be lore reveals or new characters, or whatever. Even the damn text game, The Last Court, was connected to DAI.

In the same way that the novels and comics can become necessary supplemental materials, so too would a DA tactics game, particularly if there is any sort of plot. I would play it because I would feel that I had to, even though I have no interest in that sort of game.

There's every chance the revenue gained from such a game ends up being put back into the new main game, along with new ideas gained from creating the game.

I'd prefer they create new and interesting content than not. Especially as it seems it wouldn't be tied to the main plot. So it would be cool to fill in some historical blanks. MD asked the question, I'd guess he wouldn't have asked if he didn't have something interesting in mind. Hope it sees the light of day.

^ Ok fine, I still don't want to play one. You do, and I get that. I'm not trying to convince you to change your mind, I simply voiced my own opinion for my own self and your stating the merits of a DA tactics game as you perceive them do nothing to change that.

Use my approach then: whatever is not in the game is just not existent

I never enjoyed play much RPG Tactics like JRPG, old X-COM never appealed me much nor JA series, but ok new XCOM series is interesting and I had fun with Massive Chalice, but frankly I'd prefer a full fledged DA CRPG WITH TURN BASED combats, that's something else than a tactical RPG.

Not my cup of tea, personally. I'd rather see a fourth Dragon Age game.
