I thought this would be funny topic to discuss about so here we go :)

Thread for superhero comics (cause obviously I was thinking about Marvel doing this :P) and of course other published comics, webcomics, maybe throw-in some manga or manhwa. Topic can be divided in subthreads later I guess if there is need, but for now more general thread would suffice.

Share your favorites, discuss, maybe ask for recommendations, information, whatever you wish on topic. Discuss characters, movie/cartoon etc. adaptions, favorite artists, companies, series and so on.

To start this on, what comic have you been in to lately?

I have been thinking about this for days, but i never found a decent name and was to shy to go for it. And then you come out of nowhere and just nail it! Proud of you Panda!

I am mostly into DC, and lately i have been reading up on new 52, but it is getting a reboot, again. I would say i prefer Wonder Woman and Batman as i find those characters to be the most Interesting, both in terms character growth and backstory.

Also read some other stuff like Fables, Black Sad, The Walking dead. The Walking Dead is brilliant by the way, the TV show captures some of it, but not as much as it could have and should have.

I am also quite excited to watch Captain America - Civil War, which is a comic issue i read a few years ago right after i finished Winter Soldier. It is some of the best Marvel stuff i've read. I know the movie is going about the conflict in a different way, but it looks Interesting.

EDIT - Can we link things? Because there was a new Suicide Squad trailer today, and it looks fracking awesome! So sharing it!

Awwwyeeah, this is my kinda thread.

I've been rereading X-23 lately. Marjorie Liu is a jewel of a writer, and whenever Takeda illustrates it's like the series ascends to shoujo bubble heaven. Only with, ya know... lots of blood and violence.

Thanks :)

I'm more Marvel girl myself, DP and all ^^ Catwoman is pretty much only character whose comics I read, though I do like Harley Quinn and her gf Poison Ivy as well. Three make quite great squad as well :P

Civil War seems great and I have high hopes for it, Winter Soldier being my fav MCU movie this far. I'm hoping that I'm not hyping it up too much for myself though. I like that they are expanding cast for it as well, including many characters already seen in MCU and introducing Black Panther and Spider-man. Though I'm not too into another teenager Spider-man, seriously he's like Marvel's Peter Pan, never growing up. I wonder if they are going to kill Uncle Ben third time ^^;

I don't read many comics myself. I've picked up bits and pieces of knowledge from looking things up or general cultural osmosis, but most of my exposure to Marvel has been the movies and most of my exposure to DC have been the Bruce Timm animated series (which still holds up, I must say).

I didn't really do post on what I have been reading so here I go.

I have been really into Marvel a while now so I have been reading different Marvel comics. From ongoing stuff I'm reading all four comics with Deadpool in them- it's good time to be fan- and I'm also liking Invincible Iron Man for Handsome!Doom, Old Man Logan and Doctor Strange's current runs.

I'm just reading forever continuing One Piece for manga so nothing exciting in that field.

For webcomics I love this site called Tapastic. It's nice place to find comics and art from non professional/indie artists. I have really liked Joanne Kwan's comics there- who also likes to Dragon Age fanart from time to time in her tumblr :) Elli Puukangases Tistow is pretty great comic as well, I love her style!

First Trailer of Doctor Strange movie.

I love that Mads Mikkelsen is now part of MCU cast as well :D Though I have still no idea what he's character is. I love the eye-make-up though:

I don't know anything about the source but Tilda Swinton punching out Benedict Cumberbatch's soul is pretty cool. (I always suspected she could.)

Also Chiwetel Ejiofor!

Just came home from seeing Captain America Civil War. Not sure how i feel yet. I am actually kind of dissapointed, alot of potential, but it was squandered. I know most people is going to love this movie, but i can't get past the bad things about it. I am actually quite crushed. Life goes on, i guess.

Too bad I'm still bit underweather. I have to wait a bit until I can see it. I have high hopes though- I hope I haven't hyped myself up too much...

Saw Civil War in the movies and I actually really liked- it blowed my expectations away. Loved Black Panther- just everything about his character, gothic Scarlet Witch, plottwists- didn't see those coming, action, Ant-man's jokes, bromance between Steve & Natasha & Natasha & Clint.

Didn't like teen Spidey, getting new NOTP and was that supposed to be Baron Zemo??

Maybe best Marvel movie I have seen, but I have to wait couple days so I calm down to decide if it really is better than Winter Soldier & first Avengers movie.

Some random thoughts on Captain America: War of Northern Aggression Civil War (got that joke from Jonathan Chait); this is a bit spoiler-ific, though:

I see Civil War more of Avengers movie than Captain America movie since Captain America don't seem to stay as main character, he shares the spot with Tony and Bucky at least. The movie is just full of characters who all have pretty good story arcs in the movie for me so there simply isn't that much time to focus really on Cap.

I agree that Cap's character doesn't really go anywhere in the movie, but I think his character arc has evolved from his previous movies and this is where he's character has end up. Distrustful of working for some organization cause organizations can be infiltrated like SHIELD was in Winter Soldier. Other characters apart from Cap have more conflict and well more interesting character arcs, Iron Man and Black Panther probably most, then Black Widow and Scarlet Witch. So Captain America not having inner conflict and character arc that had more movement didn't bother me, there was other characters for that (- that I also like and care more about ^^; ).

More spoilery:

Rogue is one of my favorite comic-book characters, and is actually perhaps my favorite character from any medium.

When I moved to California, I left my X-Men comic book collection from the 90s at home.  I used to meticulously care for them and they are all in boxes with protective covers.  I'm not sure I'll ever have them mailed out to me.  I stopped collecting when I went away to college in 1998 and only recenlty got back into the hobby after I bought an iPad and downloaded the app.

I love the Marvel Comics app, which has let me re-buy a lot of the comics that I already own and also catch up on everything I have missed.  I am cheap, so I wait until storylines are on sale for $0.99 an issue.  Over the past 2 years I ended up buying 650 X-Men / Crossover books....which I guess adds up pretty quickly, but boy do I love just being able to sit down and read issue to issue and not have to wait a month.  It will be a long time until I get to present-day storylines, though I did end up reading Avengers v. X-Men when it went on the 0.99 sale as I didn't want to wait, and I did read all of X-Men Legacy as it was mostly about Rogue.

Just wanted to say I was surprised at how much I ended up liking Black Panther.  Cool as hell.  This is not a character I ever had any interest in, but he stole the show for me.

I haven't been that interested of him in the comics, but he really blew me away in Civil War. It became bit of Black Panther show for me :3 Too bad his solo movie doesn't come out before 2018, wasn't too happy with decision to move other movies out of Spider-man's movie's way.
