...should have been WAY bigger, don't you think? At least like an Assassin's Creed city.

I agree. Getting stuck in the few small areas for so long drives me crazy. (I enjoy that at least the DLCs lead us elsewhere.) I don't mind staying in one place, but I'd like to explore other parts of the city. I'm sure it would have many other interesting places to offer. It doesn't need to be the second Hinterlands... just... more variety wouldn't hurt.

I agree.. I just try to imagine it's bigger. lol Same goes for most RPGs. Skyrim cities are very small, but I imagine they're supposed to be bigger.

At least it's bigger than Val Royeaux... lol. Bioware and cities are not a recipe for success. An Assassin's Creed sized city would not have been necessary, imo, but especially for Kirkwall, something like Novigrad from Witcher 3 would have been great.

Yeah.. I expected so much more from Val Royeaux, since Leliana first mentioned it in DAO.

Although I guess they could use the same old excuse. That they had to develop for PS3/360.

One thing I'll say about DA2 is it makes pretty good use of the little space it has. The direction for the characters is pretty good. I'm still immersed when talking to Isabela in the Hangman, Merrill in her little house, etc..

This is one thing I really like about the Assassins Creed series. They are about the only ones who make cities believable, both in terms of sheer size and also liveliness. I just got Unity in a steam sale the other day. Didn't get around to play it much yet but what I have seen of Paris so far is absolutely stunning (fortunately I am one of the lucky ones for whom the game runs without issues).

BW should really take a page out of Ubi's book when it comes to cities. It's not enough to make 2-3 streets and put some static NPCs here and there, you need crowds and a lot of moving elements to make it feel like a city.

No matter if Denerim in DA:O (best one so far though), Kirkwall in DA2 or Val Royeaux in DA:I, none of them really capture the flair of a city.

I would love if DA4 was set in an open-world Minrathous like AC Paris and London.

I do wish Kirkwall had been larger, yes, like its presentation in this concept art, one of my favorite of the entire series.

AC is kind of how I imagined my CE lived in Denerim. Jumping on rooftops, doing petty stuff for thieves guilds.

Sad that I can't actually play that :P

Nice headcanon. I'll have to make the CE my canon because of that.

My fear is that the next game might fulfill this, and then I'll want to play a CE again (but I'd rather mix characters types up).

Agreed. It makes sense in a narrative sense that Hawke mostly stays in Kirkwall but, since we are forced to spend so much time there, couldn't they at least try to make the city more diverse and dynamic? I guess that's one more result of the game being rushed.

I wish that Kirkwall was much bigger; it'd make it slightly better to play, I suppose.

I have a Thieves Guild Member who's an Elf, if that counts as anything... (And no, he's not a bloody Thalmor; he's a Drummer).
