I'm okay with revelations on elven history and red lyrium properties because most of the game's lore has been lacking to this point. Ever since the very first game the characters have consistently said we don't know much about elven history because their records prior to their enslavement were destroyed when they were sacked by the Magisters and then the Exalted March, and for Red Lyrium characters keep learning more about it as they go.

However, the Dalish being said to revere mage children in previous games but SUDDENLY fearing them so much they refuse to keep more than three per clan and abandon excess mage children to die is ALL KINDS OF BULLSH!T. I don't buy it for a second. That was clearly a retcon by the devs in order to discredit the Dalish as a viable alternative to the Circle system now that we finally have a game trying to come up with alternatives to the Circle system.

Also, we were lied to that the taint from the 5th Blight lingers in Ferelden so badly that they've been suffering food shortages thanks to most of their farmlands being tainted by the Blight, and the wildlife still recovering from it, and the Hinterlands being hit so hard that nothing grows there anymore, and in some places it's so bad that not even corpses decompose because even bugs and bacteria have been killed off by the taint.

Ferelden is lusher and greener than ever, and the Hinterlands look even greener than they did in the first game.

To be fair, that's probably excusable with the fact that the Blight didn't have time to linger, since in Inquisition, we also got the Western Approach, which was a wasteland due to a Blight that ended nearly 900 years previous. It could be that the area around Ostagar is still as ruined as it was in Origins as well.

This probably varies from clan to clan. Clans are tiny and insular, compared to other social structures like cities. After so many years, each clan is likely to be more shaped by the clan's own traditions, vs. any unifying Dalish traditions. This particular tradition may also depend on the Veil strength. Clans that live in areas with less Fade activity might struggle to have even one mage at a time, and would welcome any mages born. Clans that hunt in high-activity areas might bear many mages, and have more difficulty keeping their magic under control. Similar to how the Gallows was much stricter than Kinloch Hold -- they're both Circles, but the context in which they exist is different.

At any rate, the wide spectrum of traditions is very convenient for humans that want to demonize the Dalish. All they need to do is cherry-pick the worst traditions from multiple different clans, and hey presto, the knife-ears are savages.

If you're so afraid of mages that you're willing to abandon a child to the wilderness, I doubt you'd be willing to keep any of them around, let alone be lead by one.

Just call it what it is. Bullpoop.

I don't know if I used those commas correctly...nor do I care.
