If in Here lies the Abyss the chocie was between your Warden and Hawke who would you pick to stay behind?

Alternatively, if the chocie wasn't the Inquisitor's but of your Warden and Hawke, what would they do? And Why?

Personally, if i had choose between them i would go with my Warden, mainly because i'm not quite so sadistic to kill the guy right after/before he got to meet for the first time his kid (Morrigan romance, no DR, Alistair sacrifice) but also because it would makes sense for him to be the one to rebuild the wardens of Ferelden from scratch.

If it wasn't up to the Inquisitor/me and if they stayed in character, the one who stays behind would probably be the one who knocks out the other first. My Hawke would never leave someone she cares about to sacrifice themselves for her(my Warden is an Amell), and my Warden basically the same plus because of Alistair's sacrifice (and the Fear demon previously taunting him about it in such a scenario) he would feel ever more compelled to save his cousin.

Having said this, 9 times out of 10 my Warden would figure out what needs to be done before my Hawke, so he would probably be the one to stay behind

What about you?

Cousland 1: Hawke.

Amell: Also Hawke

Cousland2: Hawke.

Yep. Because I don't want to hurt Warden Alistair/King Alistair or Morrigan at all, and I'm kind of peachy, so deres dat.

And isn't there already topic about this?

Cousland warden stay.

Zevran have Isabela, Anora have the throne, Ferelden have Anora (and Alistair still live, bann Teagan took him back to Ferelden...).

And Fenris have Hawke.

Everybody happy on the poor Aedan's ashes... RIP

Aedan Couscous vs Claritia

I would probably pick Aedan. Because he's a jerk.

If they got to duke it out Aedan would probably just knock out Claritia and Quizzy and make a run for it. Maybe he'd cut off Quizzys hand and add Inquisitor to his collection of titles.

Perdita Amell vs Isea

I would probably just flip a coin. I like them equally.

Perdita would stay behind if she had a say in it. Probably just ask someone to tell Alistair that she was sorry it came to this. Isea would probably let Perdita have her moment of glory.

Aldis Aeducan vs Elizabeth.

I would probably pick Aldis, because that little killer might actually make it out alive.

Elizabeth would probably offer herself, since she had nothing left to live for anyways. Her family was dead, her title taken away from her and Varric was the only one she could sort of call a friend. Aldis would not object.

Theron Mahariel vs Aurora

Probably Theron, since Aurora is much funnier.

They would have to fight it out, but since Aurora fights dirty I think she'd come out on top.

Castian Cousland vs Catalina

I would probably pick Catalina. Since she's quite crafty, so she might make it out.

Catalina would probably offer to stay, but Castian might knock her out and run to fight the demon in hand-to-claw combat.

I picked the warden, but the only game I've ever played from DA was Inquisition. My other play through I plan to pick Hawke, though. Inquisition made the choice easier for people new to the game by investing more time to Hawke than the Warden.

The Warden, for the same reasons I picked Stroud: I like the idea of the Wardens being sort of redeemed with that choice, in addition to the emotional connection with Varric.

The Warden, since he's basically living on borrowed time anyway.

It seems right. He dodged death by Archdemon for a purpose. A Warden must fall to pay for the crimes of the Order.

If The Hero of Fereldan, Champion of Kirkwall, and Herald of Andraste plus 3 of the Inquisitors companions cannot stop The NIghtmare demon then there is no hope for Thedas if Solas tears the Veil open. I also cannot imagine The Warden allowing the other wardens to go along with that dumb plan. But to answer the question, Hawke. While both only surviving blood relatives are there brothers(Fergus for the Warden and Carver for Hawke). My Warden also has a son and I dont want to leave Morrigan as a single parent. Isabela and Hawke relationship does not seem as family-oriented as Warden-Morrigan. And also seeing that the survivor goes to Anderfels I feel its best The Warden goes and rebuilds the Wardens at least. My Warden just has much more to both lose and offer then Hawke at this point.

Neither. My Inquisitor would call the 3 companions back to help fight the ugly thing along with Hawke and Warden. Excellent

If it were me personally making the choice from a gameplay perspective, I might sacrifice my female archer Hawke (who is BioWare's character, really). My Hero is the King of Ferelden. An ex-viscountess, or a king?

However, from a storyline perspective, I might send the Hero in just because I think he would survive the Nightmare demon and slay it.

Now, if it were up to my Inquisitor, he might just side with my Cousland, who would volunteer. He and my Inquisitor are of like minds. The man should be the one to defend the woman, and my Hawke is a woman.

So it would likely be my Hero King of Ferelden, and then my Inquisitor would invest in trying to get back into the Fade at Adamant and try to look for the Hero afterward.

However, there is another option. If the Hero, Champion, and Inquisitor were all together, they would likely be able to slay the Nightmare together. So I think they would try that. If things went sour, my Hero King would probably tell them to run while he holds it back. But my Champion is an archer. She would likely be able to distract it by firing from in front of the rift while the Hero runs up to the rift.

Tough choice.

I'd likely sacrifice Hawke because I'm too attached to the Warden. Her biography is more personal to me than Hawke's, who is a default sort of PC.

The Warden, I guess. I already have an easy time killing them anyways. And more than half of them had something redeem themselves over.  Besides that, I think thematically, Wardens revolve around Death and Duty. I haven't played any Hawke like that. He/She is just an immigrant trying to make her way in the world. If DA2 had a theme, it's family and belonging. When I defy these, the games feel a little offtrack.

Hmmmm, let's see ...

Aleyna Cousland vs. Morgan Hawke, aka my 'canon' world state: Morgan still stays in the Fade, because Ferelden might frown on leaving their Princess-Consort behind to die.

Bran Amell vs. Abigail Hawke: This one is tricky. Bran is the ruthless type and always out for himself, but Abigail might not be so enthusiastic about jumping on a giant spider so her blood mage cousin could live. This Inquisitor would probably choose to leave Abigail behind, though, so this world state would change significantly. (Stroud bought it in the actual game.)

Veronique Caron vs. Lucas Hawke: I'm assuming that Orlesian Wardens take over for those Heroes of Ferelden that already made the ultimate sacrifice? Anyway, Veronique would stay behind without hesitation, so Lucas still lives to return to Anders.

Lyris Mahariel vs. Susannah Hawke: There's no way the Dalish Inquisitor in this world state would leave a fellow elf behind if she could leave a human blood mage instead, even if the blood mage is in love with a different elf from the same clan. Especially if she and/or the Warden find out that Hawke KILLED that clan. So Morrigan and Kieran will be happy and Merrill won't be. (This world state is a complicated soap opera with too many apostates and elves ...)

Ithelin Surana vs. Michael Hawke: Can't see this Inquisitor wanting to go back and tell Leliana she fed her boyfriend to a demon, so Michael still stays. Ithelin is deeply upset about this, though, because he and Michael would get along like a house on fire and he already feels bad about dodging the ultimate sacrifice by sleeping with Morrigan.

Aedan Cousland vs. Marian Hawke: The Inquisitor has to decide which completely terrible person to leave in the Fade. He probably picks Marian, because Aedan is married to Queen Anora, but he probably wishes he could get rid of both of them at once.

I haven't played out the imports for my Brosca and Tabris Wardens, so I'm not sure yet how those would go.

I suspect that this - a choice between Hawke and whoever survived DAO, meaning the Warden, Alistair or Loghain in that order of priority - was the original plan but they changed it after people's reaction to ME3's ending. In my diary of my first DAI game, I said the DA team chickened out that this was a good thing.

In the hypothetical situation that the choice had between the Warden and Hawke, I would've cheated: replayed the game with one of my second-line Wardens or Hawkes. I really hate forced deaths of protagonists. Not just in games btw., in books, too. I wish they didn't alway shove this heroic sacrifice theme into our faces.

I'd leave Hawke behind, he more feels like BioWare's character than my own.

Though I'd expect my dual wielding warrior Cousland turn around and say something like "be right back".

If the choice was presented, I wouldn't hesitate to save Hawke and leave the Warden behind. That's what warden are for. Sacrifice and death. They know that from the moment they perform the ritual that makes them wardens, when they taint themselves drinking darkspawn blood.

Except that you weren't a Warden by choice. Recall what happened to Jory?

- My Main Warden would never sacrifice himself for Hawke or the Inquisitor.

He would step aside and let Fear follow the Inquisitor through the rift... then walk out afterward.

- My Hawke is a bit crestfallen.  She's faced a lot of hardships and, truth be told, I think she's a little tired.

So I think she would volunteer.

My Warden sacrificed herself the first time and, if she had not done so the first time, I believe she would do so in this situation - she's a bit nihilistic anyway.
