Why is Zevran back in Inquisition? He's supposed to be dead!

Here's the deal. I wanted to import my own save to Inquisition and enjoy my own world state for the first time. So, I created a world state on the Keep and made sure >>>>>Zevran is dead<<<<<.

I know you might like him or even romanced him... but the last time I played Origins a few years ago, I killed him and his pathetic Antivan friends in Denerim. I hate him and Anders the most among all the companions. Maybe even more than the villains.

I was just playing Inquisition and I found a wartable mission... "Word from Zevran Arainai". Zevran has sent the Inquisition a letter suggesting they can help us take out Lord Enzo of Antiva. Why? Why is he alive? I never encountered him in DA2, never wanted to see him again, never heard from him. I supposed he was dead for good. Is this a glitch or he's supposed to return from the dead?

From your description I would say that your world state didn't import. Otherwise, if your "Zevran is dead" world state imported correctly, this war table operation would not appear.

Have you encountered anything else that could point on wrong world state?

Everything has been fine. Lord Harrowmont is the king of Orzammar, Hawke supported mages and he's with Merrill, Leliana was with the Warden, Alistair dead, ... . Zevran is the first thing gone wrong by now.

I just checked the Keep. Zevran is dead in DAO, in DA2 it's said I never encountered him and there's no mention he's dead.

I've encountered the same bug. As far as I can tell based on data from my games, it occurs if you killed him during the encounter with Taliesin but not if you killed him before he was recruited. It's one of two Keep import bugs I've encountered. (The other is Morrigan thinking you romanced her when you stabbed her at the Eluvian in Witch Hunt.)

I don't think they're the same bug, but it amuses me that DA2 and DAI have situations where Zevran shows up alive when he should be dead. Maybe he used Feign Death?

^ Never encountered that bug, but it's good to know it exists.

Good to know I'm not the only one. Yes, unfortunately, I killed him in Denerim... naked (took his armor beforehand lol). What makes me regret is that I first killed him when Logain sent him. But then I reloaded and gave him another chance (who trusts an Antivan crow who admits he doesn't believe in loyalty and cause)...

It's not a big deal... I can ignore his existence in a petty wartable mission, but I fear they may bring him back in DA4. I hope my game doesn't get confused then. I don't mind they bring him back...as long as they give me an option to completely wipe him out of the game lol... just like Anders.

IS DA2 ZEVRAN COMING BACK? OMG, MY EYES, HE LOOKED SO HORRIBLE IN DA2. Or is it just a glitch?

True... I don't know how can he expect to be invited to a 3some with Bela and Hawke looking so hideous... if he looked like that in Origins my Warden would have killed him.

Poor Zevran, he's surrounded by bugs no matter what game he's in.

DAO: If recruited and romanced, a lot of his romance dialogue doesn't trigger later in the game, including the final battle.

DA2: If you import a worldstate where you romanced him but didn't die, he doesn't acknowledge the romance and agrees to a quickie with Hawke or threesome with Hawke and Isabela. (Completely not true, he's supposed to politely decline on account of being taken.) And possibly shows up alive when he should be dead.

DAI: If you import a worldstate where the Warden killed him, he turns up again.

And the Zevran haters be like:

Yeah I ran into the same bug. And I also checked the "Zevran is dead" + "Zevran was recruited" options. Weridly enough the Keep was what was bugged for me but the import system it was meant to replace worked properly in DA 2 with Zevran.

lol you know how I feel. But does that happen to anyone who kill him in DAO and import their world state to DAI? How am I supposed to fix it? I searched for the bug before I start the topic here, but I didn't see anybody mention this bug before.

I've already sent feedback reguarding my issue, but I'll post here too.

No problems with my world state not being consistant with the game world until right towards the end of the game while I was doing some missions on the War Table. I completed a mission called An Offer from the Crows using Cullen, so I did not side with the Crows. I didn't get a reward for doing this... however I did get another mission, this one called A Missing Assassin. Problem being, in my world state Zevran is very certainly dead, but is sending this mission from beyond his grave.

Anybody else noticed this? Thanks for any comments and for reading :)

*note, I initially recruited Zevran in DA:O but he was killed by my Warden later in the game when he once again tried to kill the Warden, and this is what I had put into my active world state*

EDIT: have seen somebody also mention this to the dragonagekeep people on twitter, so its looking like being a bugged flag. I'm not even sure I should have received another mission after using Cullen in 'An Offer from the Crows'.

I have just researched this string of missions again and I concluded that once "An Offer from the Crows" is completed it incorrectly gives "A Missing Assassin" as the next mission if your world state has Zevran flagged as recruited BUT also flagged as dead - meaning you killed him later after his recruitment. Then you probably didn't notice that "A Missing Assassin" is actually sent by Zevran, and the mission you refer to is your second mission from Zevran. The mission we were supposed to get is "Word from the Crows".

I made this post shortly after the game came out and they have never fixed it, so it seems if you are having the issue right now. It is a known thing but just affects a small amount of people I guess, because its probably not that common that people recruit Zevran, don't get enough approval and so later on must kill him,  and then also it requires some attention to detail to notice this on the war table.

The twitter comment I refer to: https://twitter.com/...587626612785152

Just one of the tiny things that has always been a problem and never had much said about it... but don't worry, everything imported correctly etc, its 100% a bug and very annoying! Isn't it funny how the smallest things can be the most annoying :P

Sorry for making like one million edits to my post xD

Thanks. Good to know. I completed the game without doing the Lord Enzo quest just in case. I hope what you say is true.
