How to make the game fun again (bugged?)

I'm currently on my second play through with a mage inquisitor (no specialization yet) on hard + some trials on PS4

I'm not a gamer, I don't even own a PS4 so I don't know much about game mechanics or strategy, I just play for fun and hope I don't die.

First play-through was double dagger rouge and I switched between normal and hard.

The second play-through is WAY TOO EASY. I don't know what's going on. I just ran through the hissing wastes on level 11 with Cassandra, Iron Bull and Solas and killed large groups of lvl 16 red Templars and Venatori without any trouble. Even In our heart shall burn was a breeze. I remember on my first play-through I used all potions and still got my party wiped out. This time I didn't even use one.

Is this the difference between playing two mages/two warriors compared to rouge/ two mages/ warrior like I did on my first play-through? Or is my game bugged? Has this something to do with the trials?

I don't even want to visit the lower level areas anymore because everything just dies after 5 seconds.

Any ideas how I can make the game fun again? Crank it up to nightmare?

(and yes I know DAI is an easy game anyway but not THIS easy...)

You could set it to nightmare and / or go solo, try to get the platinum trophies, and / or just enjoy the story.

Maybe you're just better at the game than you were during the first run.

I'd turn it up to Nightmare, yeah. Turn on Walk Softly for more challenge, if you don't mind hitting bizarre difficulty spikes from time to time.

Go nightmare , and put some trials on ...the one with the more awful bears , the stronger ennemies popping from time to time , leveling slower and ennemies always having the same level as you or higher.

You will go from killing ennemies in five second to 1 min to kill a bear , and during this minute other bears will come to see what's going on , and it will get more epic than Corypheus battle at the end ...at least if you don't fall asleep after 5 minutes of desperatly hacking at bears.

Mages with infinite barrier are also fun like that. :wizard:

I never tried to add friendly fire though  , because I'm scared.

turn the difficulty to nightmare. Don't upgrade you armor and weapons. play the game solo.

Thanks for all the replies. Yeah, turning on nightmare is the logical answer but I can't get over the huge difference between my first and second play-through.

I'm not better at the game than I think because I don't use the tactical camera and leave everyone except for my Inquisitor to AI. I'm under the impression that my companions are doing a lot better than during the first playthrough whent they would die constantly. That's why I think there's something weird going on but ... that's probably unlikely.

Are you using any of the high end schematics builds from the Golden Nug?  I equipped my team in crazy end game armor and weapons just after the Hinterlands in my second playthrough, and they danced with demons as if executing graceful butter cutting for the Dowager.
