There should not be any problem for Bioware to make the dead warden into a Revenant(or Arcane horror if mage) and include in this way the HoF in DA4.
No problems for the personality and voice issues, no problems for their appearance nor for their death, is perfect!
They just need to make the abomination very strong and write HoF upon their vital bar.

I think they've established that things like Arcane Horror's are not  spirits from once-living beings. Nobody knows what happens to a person after they die, in the Dragon Age universe.

IF a demon possesses ALL of the Wardens who fell in such a way (killing an archdemon), then yes, the Warden would be coming back in such a way (maybe not an Arcane Horror, since the HoF can be a warrior/rogue), but the absence of the HoF in such a situation should ONLY be because of the Dark Ritual/Logain sacrificed/Alistair sacrificed.

No. I can't. It would be like the moment of realization that Tamlen was corrupted. It was sad. My Warden coming back corrupted or possessed weakens the character who I, along with many others, believe to be a very strong protagonist.

The Hero of TIme was brought back in twilight princess as an undead who taught some technique to the new hero.

The Revenant HoF can do the same for the DA4 protagonist or simply be part of a phylactery quest like in DAO and be a super boss who is not killable,splendid!

I know a best way: We find the Warden with a helmet stuck in his/her head. Then there is a quest to remove it, but in the end we'll have to send him to the famous Oil Masters of Nevarra, the only group with the equipment to remove stuck things. Just think on it: The voice issue will be fixed, because well, his/her voice will sound weird; and last but not least, the personality! Everyone complained "How will Bioware know what personality my Warden had?". Now that won't be a problem! The Warden will be pissed, mad and angry at his situation! Imagine being stuck with a helmet in your face.

Anyway, I suppose it won't be different from how Loghain / Alistair came back in Inquisition.

Was the HoF dead in the imported save? He/She doesn't exist and might be replaced by another important character that is a Grey Warden and survived.
Was he/she alive in rhe importad save? The he/she comes back the same way custom Hawke did.

Plausability doesn't matter, they won't be able to do the apperance justice to a majority of fans ever, that's why it shouldn't happen.

Why can't they do it justice? I think people have really set the bar a bit too high.

 

People need to not whine or be offended with the voice Bioware chooses, and other then that, just have their appearance and actions make sense.

It's because people have set the bar high, yes. And that's not unreasonable, it's bioware that drastically changed their protagonist depiction not the fans.

 

And Hawke sucked.

Hawke in DAI wasn't bad, but there was more  to be done than what was actually there.
