Dogs never really die. I still remember mine frequently and that was like 20 y ago.
I guess you're right. I'll always remember her. Worst part is though, that I had just lost my other dog of 16 years a few months ago, so this is so soon after, so unexpected. Damn... they are like family members.

Sorry to hear that. Many times they're there for you more than family members. I've noticed it's even harder when you've shared your life with them for many years, after my Belgian shepherd died at 13.5 years age. Always tough, even if you know their time is near.
Hang in there and find distractions.
