How likely is it that we'll get another Grey Warden protagonist?

I don't think so. Playing a GW in the first game was quite fascinating because of all the misteries that surrounded the organization. Now that the GW have been spoiled I don't know if it would be interesting anymore. Personally I would prefer to play something new, but I wouldn't complain if I had to play as a GW again if the story calls for it

I think it is important to point out that the franchise isn't just about the Grey Wardens and the Blights. It is about the Dragon Age as a whole and everything that happens during that age, so I don't think the end of the Blights will necessarily have anything to do at all with the end of the age/franchise.

I wouldn't be opposed to playing a Grey Warden again, though I would not want to play the Hero Of Ferelden again.

I'd prefer not to play a Grey Warden again. We had that, it worked very well at the time, but a repeat won't work as well for various reasons, some of them mentioned by MaxQuartiroli above.

Which leads to the question: which kind of circumstance would make playing a Grey Warden interesting again? At this time, it's not.

I think that an Old God will be needed to fight Solas and, possibly, the other elven "gods". Maybe just the power of an Old God, maybe the Old God itself

Plus, IMHO, i kinda believe that the DR was made at least once before the events of Origins, with Dumat. The Dread Wolf vs The Dragon would be quite awesome :D

I only hope it is not like in Inquisition when we fight an impossible Corypheus that Solas is also way overpowered that a "normal" Inquisitor ( or whatever the next game brings us ) could never fight and defeat him.

I'd dislike having to resort to that.

I think this is a war that simple people need to win.

Given how the last two installments have taken us away from the Darkspawn issue while presenting the Wardens in increasingly unfavorable terms, .

I don't recall it in DA2,in that game the wardens were pretty much ignored.
The only GW i remember in DA2 were Stroud and Janeka.

I think that's a lot of nonsense.

It would be interesting if the setting of that game was the Anderfels. A dystopian landscape combined with a bit of zombie appocalypse, frontier life and an oppressive theocratic government, with the Grey Wardens in the middle, treading a fine line between defending the innocent and planning to take over the country. Enough conflicts without the need for a Blight.

Also, Weisshaupt. The fabled fortress of the Wardens has been mentioned since DA:O, it would be a shame not to visit it someday.

It would be a bigger shame if they didn't bring the damn griffons back.

DAI mounts were nothing special in terms of animation quality,i immagine they simply don't want to spend a lot of money for flying mounts.

Which is the shame of it...

I imagine it's always been held back by technology, design, and other outside reasons. Even the last archdemon fight.

On a sidenote, it's kind of impressive how much they accomplish with their hands tied behind their backs though (the whole of DA2 is like that especially). It could easily veer into Ed Wood territory, but it never does:

I'd say that the last two games (at least with Legacy in DA2) brought us a bit closer to the heart of the darkspawn issue. Fighting the horde is pretty meaningless in and of itself since they're endless, but finding the source of the Blight could be something.

As for the Wardens, I get the feeling that they're going to be considered the stopgap solution that curbs the horde's ability to become a unified force, but has no real way of combating the darkspawn threat to its core. That would make sense, since the only thing they're really specialized in is successfully killing an archdemon. I rather enjoy that the very thing they use as a weapon against the Blight turned out to be a huge liability.

Indeed but I'm guessing the fact they didn't expect Corypheus to break free  or the fact he couldn't be killed at least not using conventional means. They thought they had control of him obvoiusly they were wrong as DAI proved

Oh, damn, you're right!

Spoiler

Another reason to play as a Grey Warden in a game set in the Anderfels.

My Amell about seeing Griffons in the Anderfels

"OMG, I AM TAKINNG ONE OF DES BACK TO AMARATHINE AND THERES NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT."

All my Wardens agree with chu, propertly.

I'd love to see Griffins - and more specially just a glimpse of my Warden on a Griffon (to lay her memory down forever more - becuase I'd love Bioware for just bringing back the HOF in a sutdle way like dat; you'd have no idea it was the HOF if they were up above you while you walking down below. )

I would like the option of playing as a Grey Warden. I would like to see it be considered a class just like being a mage is.
