Sera's body type is a little skinnier than standard human, but much closer to that than standard elf. Sera, Solas and Bull all have unique body models I think.

I don't have a problem with the female elf body type at all. They are not supposed to be human, so for me it took about three microseconds to get past the "oh they are too skinny" reaction to "that's what elves look like." I actually prefer that they look distinctive instead of just like humans with pointy ears. What is certainly true however is that male elves have a very odd-looking shoulder/upper arm thing going on in the standard armours.

Artistic inspiration for DA2/DAI elves:

The unexplained dysmorphic destruction of elven bodies is why Solas must fix the Veil before they are all Mackey ... mkay

That's not really an argument, since American natives, just to give one example, never looked that way. The hunter gatherer populations did just fine, hard winters aside.

It depends on how fertile the land is though I think. We do know that Clan Lavellan mostly roamed the Free Marches as the the Inquisitor themselves says so .We also know that the Free Marches is mostly cities not much countryside so there's not likely going tobe much wildlife for the clan to feed on. As I said I think that depends on where they 're based

yeah I don't have a problem either tbh I find the inquisitor elf looks kind of cute in DAI. I like the way they look. But then I like the way most of the characters look in DAI.

When I put Blackwall in that "Skin" armor from Trespasser, he has girly arms and his neck/head look like that strange dwarf that I used to always see in Emprise du Lion. It's downright scary.  :P

The Free Marches are actually known as the breadbasket of Thedas thanks to its farms alongside the Minanter River and are the source of much of Thedas' food. So while that might not be ideal for hunting, the land is very fertile and the river probably has lots of fish as well (Starkhaven's most famous dish uses fish taken from the Minanter).

I did my second play-through with a female elf and I didn't mind her body type as much as my male elf inquisitor’s because at least it’s proportional. The legs are skinny and the arms are skinny. But elven men look like some frankenstein experiment with an elven upper body sewed onto a human lower body. Maybe think this way because I have screwed beauty standards for men and women and think it’s ok for women to be stick-thin … :D

I don't think it's that bad anyway. Just would have been nice to have a choice. It’s not a major factor in the overall game experience for me.

By the way, Qunari armor really helps with female elves. The Shokra-taar gave my female Inquisitor abs. So if you have the DLC you can use that early in the game.

Why do you have to remake a human to romance Blawall or Cullen? I thought they were both romanceable for female elves and humans...

They are in fact B;lackwall can be romanced by females of any species. Although you're limited to human/elf with Cullen

Had to remake a human to romance Blackwall or Cullen cause I couldn't stand staring at my disproportionate female elf any longer. I don't know if I did something wrong, but mine ended up looking creepily strange. Her arms and legs were super skinny and her head and shoulders much too large. Even in most armor.

Plus it annoyed me that I was clueless whenever my female elf spoke Elvish. Did I miss the subtitles for it or something? Cause I did have subtitles on for conversations and nothing was translated. It sort of ruined the RPG aspect for me, so I figured might as well play as a female human and then just run around not understanding majority of what is going on with Elves, Qunari, etc.  :D  At least then my confusion makes sense, since I'm a human noble + mage who grew up in the circle. I would probably know very little of other cultures and languages.

I started over as soon as arriving at Haven. I couldn't bear looking at the spindly arms and legs with the oversized head. Made me thing of a child or an adolescent and I couldn't imagine doing any romance looking like that.

During my first play-through I thought Blackwall was a dwarf for the first 10 hours of the game or so (I admit I never played DA before). What's up with that?

I may be mistaken but I think I read that in early planning he was supposed to be a dwarf? He looks like a tall dwarf to me. Thick and squat-y. His fleece bathrobe looking armor doesn't help.

Funny you say that because Blackwall was a dwarf in early concept.

Probably because the "Skin" armor is based on Calpernia's model, with modifications.

Actually they didn't modify it. "The Skin That..." is exactly the same as Sidony's (multiplayer character) armor.

I just hate seeing the female elf body move through a cut scene - its horrendous. She is TOO skinny to be slumped over with legs spread and dancing like humpback stick...grr.

As tasty as fish is though it's not the most filling of foods anyway. But my point is though they can only eat what they can get access too and it also depends on the size of the clan as well as food needs to be distributed equally among the clan. But this is how I headcanon the reason why the elven Inquisitor looks the way they look and it works well enough for me.

You think that's a female elf thing? I don't think those hunched over body poses do a female human any favours, either...

Bioware never moved from one size fits all animations. And their canon is male. So all you get is a hunky bloke animation, playing a little bit to the grace of a drunken gorilla. For every race.

Anyone notice how HORRIBLE all female Inquisitors walk though? They don't really walk, more like stomp forward hunched.
Looks ridiculous in cutscenes. Ah, that explains it, just read what abaris said. I can't believe they didn't at least do one other animation - at least for female. So there's a difference between the male and female walk... I mean do we have to explain to Bioware that men and women don't walk the same?

Every single race has problems with clothes/armor. The elves don't look so great in Skyhold pajamas, but look fine in the other Skyhold clothing options. Meanwhile, put any human male in that "The Skin that Shields," etc., and behold the horror.

I think elves look rather nice in the other clothing options/amor though:

That's not bad at all. Huh.

I find it sad how DAI is so frustrating in the armor/clothing department. I don't remember being this frustrated with any of the Mass Effect games.

If you played the ME series you should already be used to it. Sitting down with widely spread legs, even when wearing a dress and hulking like a cowboy after a long ride and a bottle of whiskey.

I agree, and the unique look thing that adjusts armors to a certain style is cool for the companions but not as much for the Inquisitor. There are some pretty good Rogue and Mage armors but until the dlc's came out I wasn't happy with the warrior armors at all. And yeah, the weird elven proportions definitely don't help.

What is amusing is a fey elf picking up a human two-handed sword like it was nothing, like in one of their execution scenes. The bloody sword is longer than an elf. Female elves look good in some armors, clothing and in some they don't look right. The Skin may have some good armor protection and other enchantments but I think it looks terrible and I won't have my Inky wear it.
