easy there hermano.
Oi, I'm not Hispanic.

and when the shielded enemy gets up close you want to be a pushover?
You don't really know how guns work, do you?...Even with shielding, a gun tends to do more damage up close.
you misunderstood. You could shoot or melee. Depends on your play style. I know plenty about guns. I also know plenty about hand to hand combat. You don't really know how guns work, do you?...Even with shielding, a gun tends to do more damage up close.
I am.Oi, I'm not Hispanic.
"HEY, GUYS! I HAVE THIS HEAVY MACHINE GUN! INSTEAD OF USING IT WHILE IN MELEE RANGE, TO LITERALLY RIP THE ENEMY APART...I'll use my melee attacks...to look like a little b****!" *thumbs up*
^
That's a depiction of how well that would go in Mass Effect, OP. *waves self out of thread*
A headbutting Krogan is infinitely more epic than gunning people down with a HMG.
I'm also guessing if you think that's how melee would go in Mass Effect then you haven't played ME3 MP. Melee is a perfectly viable playstyle right now.
I am.
Oh......My bad. I actually get mistaken as Hispanic all the time so I kinda jumped the gun their, sorry.

never mind. With a name like Kamal?

Pfffftttt...
I prefer halo 5 style melee attacks, both games have jetpacks which could serve as similar function. Spartan charge and ground pound are pretty cool why not in Andromeda?

Don't forget about the various assassinations. Those kinds of mechanics mixed with Mass Effect stuff would be fun.
I'm too impatient to sneak up on someone. I prefer to storm in and attack directly lol. I like melee attacks though but it has to be somewhat fast paced in order for it to work when storming in like that. Gunning down directly with a machine gun or giving Headshots with a gun will always be my favorite attack style though, that's why I usually often forget to use my powers as well.
yeah.Blowing someone's head off with a shotgun is also cool. We should also be able to stab an enemy with our bayonette, and then pull the trigger
Shields in the lore work differently than the way the game mechanics do.
Gameplay > lore, but you can have lore reflected in gameplay.
Shields more effectively stop small fast moving objects, like bullets, as they work by decreasing mass to render kinetic force useless against the underlying armor, but on a larger object they can't decrease the mass enough, so that object still strikes with the majority of it's force. There are also stipulations about objects moving too slowly to be deflected, but that does not happen in gameplay because it would be a pita to balance.
So a one ton krogan slamming into you gets reduced by your shields to a mere 990 kg krogan slamming into you, while that one gram bullet becomes a milligram, or even less, That krogan still had his mass reduced by a much greater amount, and took more energy to preform, but that does not mean it had it's lethality reduced by the same amount, which would have required more energy than a personal shield could possibly output.
Now the armor underneath the shields is still in full force, and this is reflected in brute force melee like the krogan charge being less effective against armored opponents than ones with shields.
That and the fact that advanced melee weapons are used to pierce armor makes melee a significantly more potent option in the mass effect setting than in our reality. In the first game you could kill people no matter how good their shields were by punching them in the face or dropping a big crate on their head, which worked, but was too mechanically messy to really use in the games since.
I'd rather have short, effective animations for my emergent gameplay than lengthy pointless eye candy that prevents me doing stuff, or outright gets the character killed.
No.
I agree with your earlier post.. I don't want things to interfere with real time.
But those kind of God of War things isolate the action. At least you wouldn't get killed because of animations.
Not to say I want it though. Not here.

Ye, that's fine for SP - but not for MP. Ragdolled enemies flying around - now that is something to think about.
