Yes I did play a pirated copy of Origins and no I'm not proud of it . Back in 2009 I was 13 years old and there was no way I could buy the game so I had no choice . I also pirated all DLC's . I do keep all my saved files from both DA:O and DAII . Now I can afford to buy all three games and I intend to do so . But before I spend 100 euros on DA:O ultimate edition , DAII and DA: Inquisition I need to know this :
If I buy both DA:O and DAII can I use the save files from my pirated copy of DA:O to alter the world state in the keep ? That save also has all DLC's played through .
Or in other words will I be able to use my save file from the pirated copy in the copy of the game that I've purchased . Will it be compatible ?
(PC version of the game)
Question about world state from pirated copies of the game

There has got to be a better place to ask this question, because this is a terrible place to ask this question.
You should just get the games and play them again, either way. DAO is terrific.

I know this isn't the best place to ask but it's the only place where I could get a quick answer . I did consider playing the game through again , but I work 9 hours a day now and I would prefer to spend my time playing inquisition instead of replaying origins for the 7th time .

Save files are now useless , well they still work to import a worldstate in DA2 but not DAI.
The Keep doesn't use save files either , you manually pick your past choices , record them and when you log in DAI it connects to the Keep and upload your choices .

Yes I know that the keep doesn't use save files . What I don't know is how the keep syncs with the previous games . For instance If you have played DA:O and DAII on an Origin account that the Keep should automatically sync with the data on the Origin account , right ? And you'll have all your choices made and all your characters from the DA:O and DAII ready in the Keep .
My question is if I buy DA:O and DAII and put the save file I have from the pirated copy in the correct place will the Keep sync with it ? Will it be compatible ?

If I were you I'd stop talking about pirated copies , I'm pretty sure it's against the forum rules and you might get banned.
Anyway it's been a while since I've used the Keep but I remember whining about having to remember my past choices because your decisions in DAO , DA2 aren't recorded anywhere except on your saves files.
The only thing the Keep download if I remember correctly is achievements and if you got some special loots .
Everyone start with the same world state the first time you use the Keep and you have to input your past choices yourself and modify the worldstate to your liking.

The only things that the Keep records from DAO and DA2 are: additional content you have (DLCs, promotional items), achievements and eventually your custom hero. No plot information from those two games are imported to the Keep, so you have to set them manually.

Thank you for the answer . Can you tell me if I do what I intend to do (add these saves to DA:O after I buy it) will I have my custom warden and Hawke in the keep or will I get the default ones ? Because if I get the default ones either way than I don't see a reason to buy DA:O .

I'm not certain. I once added someone else's save file to my DAI and, after logging on servers, said character was added to my Keep. So basing on that, I would say it is possible with DAO and DAII as well.
But if characters are the only thing you really want, I don't think you should bother. In the Keep, after picking default hero, you can customize it to match yours. When picking for example Dalish male warrior, you can change avatar (that small icon with character's look), name and - if you want - short summary of your character's origin. Also, Keep has all class/race/gender combos for you to choose from.

Thank you so much for this answer . I had no idea you could change the portrait of the character in the keep . If you could answer this one last question .
I know for a fact that you'll meet Hawke in Inquisition . So if I change the portrait in the Keep will that change his appearance to match the portrait in the keep or will he be the default character from DAII with the short hair and blood on his face ?

DAI doesn't import Hawke's look from the Keep. When you get to meet Hawke, you have two options. Either pick default or custom Hawke. Picking custom means you're going into character creator. It's almost the same as the one you use to create Inquisitor - the only difference are various blood smears you get for Hawke.

You're awesome . Thank you so much for the quick feedback . I guess I'll just spend the money for DA:O on the Game of the Year Inquisition

Wait for a steam sale and buy the ultimate edition. That's always discounted to about $5 usd

I think Kantr meant DAO. There's no Ultimate Edition for DAI.

Origin recently had a spring sale where DAO:UE was $14.99 and DA2 was $9.99, in addition to the various other Bioware game discounts. They will probably have a summer sale as well (to compete with Steam).

Steam always has the UE much cheaper than that ![]()

^ I personally prefer to have games from the same series on one platform. Because I have DAI I'd rather have them all on Origin, just as I wanted to have all of my Bioshock games on Steam (I was also thrilled to get rid of the stupid Windows Live crap from the first Bioshock game). Of course, I can afford to spend a few extra bucks for this preference. I do understand if someone is trying to be conservative and just go for the best deal.
