Haven't been playing for months because of other priorities in life and I rarely have free time. Then I finally got a chance to open Origin again only to find that my account was hacked Though I have it recovered now 2/3 people on my friendlist are missing...or perhaps whoever hacked my account deleted them...

 

I was super surprised to be in a game with you the other day. I recognized your name because of its uniqueness and the fact that I always tried to figure out what it means when I saw it. Can't believe Sophloph figured it out immediately  (impressive sir)! But, I don't recall playing or seeing you in game for many many months until you popped up about 2 or 3 days ago again which was unexpected.

There have been lots of changes in life which I need to focus on so I took a break from DAIMP for quite a while...Now I have some free time to play again but only occasionally, maybe once or twice a week. Hmm I do remember seeing you in a lobby a few days ago but I believe we didn't play together? At first I was just switching in and out of lobbies to see if I could bump into anyone on my friend list before...Later I started a lobby in Perilous and a few people joined but their IDs all seemed very new to me.

There seems to be a constant influx of new players to the game, on a weekly basis I would say I meet or play with anywhere from 10-20 new players. Sometimes they have some stats, and sometimes they are just learning the ropes.

Maybe there isn't a new influx of players at all.  

 

Maybe noone has bought a copy of the game in the last 6 months.

 

Maybe we are just somehow able to connect to all the existing players now.

I have not seen too many on the PC.  In fact most of the time I am soloing or join someone's game from another region.  It is fun when your team is speaking in another language and you have no idea what they are talking about.... probably something like

If I read that correctly it was an Asian talking to a Russian? I suppose they are both Asian, so that works!

Sounds like a lot of people I know with 1500+ Prestige.

 

But yeah, I agree, it's probably people just trying out the MP after owning the game for a while.

Well the PSN has it on sale for $4 so I'm assuming that could be why there is the sudden influx of newbies adding to all of our fun

I was thinking MEA wouldn't be my play style or plot preference, but after watching the previews, it is looking wowzers.

I think Cool Beats is completely viable in NM!

Paint all the targets in a group, once. The little sky blue numbers will litter the screen. Follow up with one Power Chord and you are off to the next zone. It should be used like a jab in boxing, it softens up the opponent for your big punch, or for that crappy Reaver running around. Whatever. It's dead.

 

 

Depends on stats, heavily, needs heavy stats  Then there is the possibility that I'm not just good enough, but I'd rather blame stats 

 

For me virtuoso + Cool Beats is pretty much only mage I can solo trough perilous in reasonable time scale, eg. making 30-70 kill killstreaks. Tactic is simply running faster than enemy, giving extra armor to self only when under heavy fire from ranged units and giving Cool Beats, preferably to small groups at the same time. Keeps nicely mana flowing and kill streak growing. Just started to run with enhanced CB ring (finally 10% HoK is enough with this style) and have to go with Heart of Despair for smaller damage just in case I get company and cant keep running any more. Cant even dream doing same in NM yet

 

New players mess this style pretty fast. I allways try to adapt my play style to group,  but it takes time to find out who needs whitch buff and what works best for whole. People running away from virtuoso who is trying to give more speed and armor doesn't help. As said earlier, they probaply don't know what virtuoso is trying to do, and any way if you don't stay alive with extra 170 or so armor in perilous, maybe, just maybe, you should play few more threatening and/or craft better armor And players with high stats mess this even more making sure I dont get mana enough because they kill everything before me 

 

That said, from mages I enjoy most playing virtuoso and don't mind playing it also solo. When speed running virtuoso is good company.

 

I learned just few posts earlier about power chord not generating free song if done too fast, and this bit of information might alter my virtuoso style, who knows, I might become usefull most of the time...

I actually have it on 3 platforms. (PC, XB1, PS4). I have a friend who worked at EA when the game released and I got them for next to nothing. Unfortunately she quit her job because I guess the DICE guys are assholes (her words not mine).

 

I have never even taken the wrapper off the PS4 version.
