So I'm on my 2nd play through and now I'm starting to doubt whether The Dragon Age Keep actually imported the customized world state....

I had issues with it in my first play through - it failed to import and I ended up with the default world state. Does anyone know if there's a way to check it?....

So far not much as been mentioned about the past (I'm still in Haven). If you speak to Leliana and you romanced Alistair in DA1 and became queen with him as the king, does your female Warden still 'disappear'? Also in that same conversation with Leliana (she said that she used to know the Hero Of Fereldan or whatever), but that she suddenly vanished? Now I'm panicking this is the default world state, not the customized one. Is the Hero of Fereldan by default male or female?

I also got nervous cause she mentions knowing the twins of the Champion better than the actual Champion, but in my DA2 game, Carver died leaving Lothering... Only Bethany survived to become a circle mage.... so it's got me suspicious that my custom world import failed AGAIN.  <_<

This is literally making me want to tear my hair out. I even double checked that the custom world import matched up to the Dragon Keep! And it still seems like it might have failed! UGH.  :(

As far as I know, default world state has Hero of Ferelden dead. And yes, even the Warden who became queen disappears.

The best way to check who's the Warden in your current game would be checking codex entry about the Hero of Ferelden, which you can unlock in Redcliffe.

Leliana mentions Hawke twins, because she knew them from Lothering.

You can go login to dragonagekeep and click on settings, scroll down and it will show you which world state you have set to export to DAI.

The Hero of Ferelden always vanishes if not already dead. And Leliana knew the Hawke twins while they were living in Lothering before it is destroyed. So she knew them both before one gets offed.

EDIT: Talk to Threnn, she can tell you who the current ruler of Ferelden is which is always a good place to start.

Wait what... how does she know the twins before they leave  Lothering with the soon-to-be Champion? Doesn't she meet the Champion and her/his family for the first time in Kirkwall? I clearly don't pay enough attention when I game.... *sigh*

Thanks for the advice! I'll both check the Dragon Age Keep settings and scurry over to Redcliffe before I go any further.

Leliana knew the Hawke family when she was in Lothering before she joined the Warden.

Leliana lived in Lothering's chantry before the Blight. Hawke's family lived in Lothering as well (Blight was the reason they fled to Kirkwall).

Edit: *looks at lynroy* First I  'd you, now you  'd me. I think we're even.

My mind is blown right now. How on earth did I miss this!?  :o I really do have to start paying more attention.

And I have to go to Val Royeux for the quest "The Threat Remains" before I can gain access to Redcliffe it seems. I'm really praying hard that I imported the customized world state successfully.

You can check when you first import the state, as it shows the date/time the state was last modified. It's the same date that is shown in the keep, so you can compare them to see if they are the same. You can also talk to Varric about Hawke in Haven and see if his answers match up.

Is the Hero of Fereldan by default male or female?

The default Warden is Dalish and performed the Ultimate Sacrifice. I think it's a man, but I'm not sure.

Nope, female. The rest is correct though.
