ME: A MP Character Customization?
#1
Posté 15 avril 2016 - 07:49
Hear me out. wouldn't it be cool if we could fully customize our MP characters? An example would be like this:
> Pick a class (Adept, Soldier, Engineer, Sentinel, Infiltrator, and Vanguard).
> Pick a race and its gender.
> Argue with yourself on what kit you should go for. Of course, the kits differ from the other races.
> ???
> PROFIT!
I know this sounds like a typical MMORPG thing. If they wanted to, they can start us out on three slots per class. To open more slots (maybe 5 at max), we'd have to throw cash at them (or maybe in-game credits, hopefully). I'm aware of the flaws to this, but I'm one of those losers who love character customization and I want my damn lady aliens.
EDIT:
AIU DOES NOT COUNT EITHER.

I wish they'd just let us fully customize the appearance of our MP characters. I get what they're trying to do with the whole grind to unlock the character, and wanting to make the MP characters feel like characters in their own right (this was in Inquisition), but I personally don't care for it. I never liked grinding much, because I'd just lose interest after getting what I want, and the characters were butt ugly for the most part in Inquisition.
And it's not like they would have to make a character creator from scratch, since they're already making one for story mode. Just add more options for other races.

I really want to make a short, fat character, with a great, bushy beard.

Or even better: have the character customization options be unlocked from the beginning especially when the specific pack intended to reward characters reward items instead. I do not expect a character creator in multiplayer, I just want those options to not require tedium and luck. It is not as if they influence the gameplay aspect: they're cosmetics!

If they put a character creator in the Multi player people would just come on here and ****** that it's wasted resources that should have been used to make the single player better and then whine that Bioware has lost there way and are abandoning what made them great.... because of course they will.

They could still have the armor customization be unlockable, so you have something extra to unlock besides weapons and gear and mods or whatever. But I just really want a character creator and I'm sure others feel the same. I don't think it would be that difficult, and a character creator is pretty much standard with most multiplayer modes today. Besides, that would save them having to create characters themselves and come up with backgrounds for them.

They do that anyway, with everything. So whatever.

I'd want this a lot. Both in the mp and the sp creator.

I honestly think the customisation was pretty fine in mp. I really do not want them to devote that many resources to mp just for some more customisation options making it similar to the sp. If they do decide to do it, I actually expect players to pay extra through micro-transactions and whatnot, thus calming me that they did not devote that many resources as they would need to if it was all free.

Well....they were sorta right. ME3 had the laziest sidequest of them all. Basicaly easedrop, scan a planet mission complete. The main missions were very short too. Thessia, Surkesh, Tuchanka, Rannoch all should have been far longer (and we never even got to see Palaven). It takes the same amount of time to complete those missions as it does Grissom Academy which is optional. Intimate conversations were thrown out of the window in favor of characters just blurting out bits of dialogue you couldn't respond to yourself. Even the scanning of planets which was already downgraded in Mass Effect 2 got even more cheesy.

Agreed. People like to complain. I can understand if it's something serious but over a little matter. They weren't even sorta right, because that's not how it works.
The MP team was separate from the SP team, and the MP team would have been made up of primarily programmers. The animation work is already being done by the SP team because it's needed for SP, you don't need the writers, and there is minimal voice acting.
The sidequest stuff takes writers and voice actors to do, which you can't just transfer your developers to the writing department(inb4thatexplainstheending) because they aren't doing anything at the moment.
If they weren't working on the MP they wouldn't have gotten those extra resources but even if they did, not all resources are transferable to other areas of the game. There is more resources to making a game than just time and money.
Of course, none of what I just said is going to stop people who hate MP from blaming everything they don't like about SP on its existence.

I like the idea and I been sorta suggesting this in already made threads for MP.
I believe the system should be like ME3 MP to unlock race options than have a skill tree like in DAI so characters can pick and choose certain abilities. Also make some abilities that locked to certain races only.
Another way is all what I already said but have a skill unlock system like weapons too but I figured that would make things way too complicated lol

to be honest so long as they build on me3's mp platform and not the garbage system used in DAI for gear progression it should be good.
and for the love of god stop yanking MP event support after 6>12 months, how hard is it to employ a comunity geek to announce weekend events for a couple of years, they dont need ot be overly special, just somethign to keep the fans going in the multiplayer for a longer period of time, like a lot of people i pretty much stopped playing me3 mp after the events stopped and the same thing happened with DAI
a lot of people had only just bought the GOTY edition when the weekly events ended, much better to have kept them going for another year or two or even better keep rinsing through the first 12 months worth until a few months before the next game gets released, keeping the packs going and keeping the special edition stuff coming from them.
I personally loved the play game for reward points t spend on boxes for a dice roll on better gear (me3mp) that upgraded or added to your current stuff, the DAI version of spamming you with endless copies of the same useless junk wasn't so great and carrying over elements of the crafting system from the SP game just didn't work. so lets hope whatever happens they don't abuse people and loose customers in the same fashion with dodgy gear progression.

That's why they have the microtransactions I guess. It's a different team working on it. Kind of makes sense, but then they should prioritise resources according to that while making the game. However, I am not a manager or anything, and I wouldn't be ok with not getting paid until someone buys packs in the mp.
I really hate microtransactions, but understand that we are stuck with them in this day and age.

I'm not sure how it would eat up so much more in terms of resources if that same character creator already exists for the singleplayer mode. Only difference I guess would be the option of being an alien, but in that case we'd just get color options, since they're just gonna look the same anyhow.

Supply drops freaking suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Game developers need to get their $#¡7 together and ghost those things. You never get the crap you want unless you drop 200 dollars. I'd rather just buy the weapons with Microsoft points for cheap. Waste of time and money. Whoever came up with that Idea, I hope he or she burns for eternity. The only way they are would be great if your guaranteed to get something good EVERY time or get to choose what you get.
I once dropped 25 dollars on random unlocks in ME3 Multiplayer trying to get the N7 Slayer.
Never happened.
I was a new mom and my husband was still going to college, we were lucky if we could rub two nickels together.
Got that Volus Adept, though.

OT: The Doom Multiplayer has a lot of fun customization regarding color and type of armor. I don't plan on playing Doom, but I played the beta. The customization is the only thing that seemed interesting, and I wonder if MEA mp could take from that!

Like I said before on multiple occasions: The class system is fine as is and should stay for MEAMP, with maybe the adition of a Medic Class for support, healing, debuffing and stuff.
But a custom char could be the reward for finishing the game on Insanity (SP) or doing all the challenges (MP).
