Bioware games have replay value, good chars, narrative, fluid gameplay features (tracking quest log, easy saves, etc, etc). However, they flunk on one title in a really bad way so now I look at their dev teams. DA dev team hasn't trip over their toes...yet. I hope they don't. DA4? I'll preorder like I did the other DA titles. DA is one of two games I will chance on preordering / support. The other I'm tracking / playing right now is Star Citizen.

However, given the disturbing developments on sales and game content practices with some recently released titles, I will change my mind (totally no preorders) if Bioware take up that route.

Yes, I will buy the game. I don't read reviews or watch Lets Plays before buying a game. I don't intend to do that for DA:4 either.

However. If I am disappointed in the game, that will be the last Dragon Age game I purchase. I pre-ordered DA:I and was horribly disappointed in what I got for my money. If I feel in anyway the same way about DA:4 as I did with DA:I, that is it. Just like Call of Duty, I will not go back to it even if it is apparent they have changed the formula.

I did not expect this answer from you   :P

No idea, there needs to be information about the game released before I will decide if I will purchase or not.  Now I am interested enough to follow the development of the game.

I would pre-order, provided I like the info we're given about the game pre-release. If not, I will wait untill after release and look up more info before determining if I'll buy it. That said, I pre-ordered both DA2 and DA:I and have not been disappointed.

I will definitely buy it. I was very happy with DA:I after I hated DA2.

:o

Don't get me wrong, i've probably played DA2 just as many times and DA:O even more, but Inquisition? Do you go straight through the mainstory or actually do everything, or most of everything, in each playthrough?

most of everything but it depends a little on the characters I'm RP'ing. I did skip a few things in my last run with Topal but that was partly because it was my first run as a warrior. Mostly small fetch quests though

Yes, I will absolutely be buying it, pre-order.  I loved DA:I as much as any game they've made.  Sure, I have wishes as to what direction they go with the game, but even if they don't go the way I am hoping, I am supremely confident that Bioware will tell a great story regardless.

You all would probably first find out what the next Dragon Age game would be like like reading the previews and maybe the reviews first before you would buy it so my question is.

After playing through "Dragon Age: Inquisition", I came to realize that the franchise is stuck. "Dragon Age: Inquisition" contains some pretty interesting elements; however, the game lacks "Dragon Age: Origin's" sense of dark fantasy and variety. Some other things that are missing include: (1) species specific origin stories for the player character, (2) skill and trait customization - strength, stamina, lock picking, etc..., (3) enough variety in clothing styles, (4) interesting hairstyles, (5) new species, (6) new mythology for a new species, (7) epic soundtrack by Inon Zur, (8) shocking storyline related twists, (9) gifting npcs, and (10) new antagonists. "Dragon Age: Inquisition" lacks the charm and fresh storytelling, which made "Dragon Age: Origins" profoundly interesting.

Prior to buying "Dragon Age: Origins", I avoided the game for about three years.

"Dragon Age: IV" is going to be a tough call. If "Dragon Age: IV" contains an MMO type of environment, the game will most likely just sit on the shelf. White Wolf Entertainment was recently sold to a new game developer; therefore, I am anxiously awaiting the announcement of "Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines II" or "Vampire the Masquerade: World of Darkness". "Dragon Age: IV" has to do something extraordinarily special, similar to "Dragon Age: Origins", in order for me to make the purchase.

Preordering really only benefits the studio and reduces the agency of the players. If Bioware knows that they can get a certain number of preorder purchases without waiting for reviews (player reviews, not media reviews which are almost always completely positive) then they can release a game with bugs, suboptimal controls, they don't need to live up to their marketing hype and they will still get the sales. And they will use preorder numbers to "prove" how popular the game is, which doesn't account for people who buy the game and sell it back quickly, or those who preorder and then wait a few weeks/months for patches to come out before they actually play the game.

I am not preordering games anymore, Bioware or otherwise. I did for DA2, ME3 and DAI and will not do so again. I might wait to buy used copies of all games. I will inevitably play all games Bioware puts out, but I no longer have the need to play them as soon as they're available.

I will buy it, eventually. I have enjoyed all the games to a varying degree and I'm interested to see where the train is headed.

I won't pre-order it because I think it will add to the hype and deepen the disappointment if the game isn't good. And I will try to wait for at least few days after it's launched to see what the general reception is and adjust my expectations according to that. And if it's really buggy I can wait until those problems are patched out.

But I will buy it, none the less.

I will only buy the next Dragon Age game is the Hero of Ferelden makes an appearance and has a decent role to play, even if it's short, like Hawke's was in Inquisition. Otherwise, I will not purchase.

yeah I can understand people being skeptical  about the games. Whilst I've always liked Mass Effect and I will be  buying Andromeda the moment it becomes available. I wasn't like that at first with DA in fact I don't think I got DAI until about a month or so after it came out as I was skeptical as I'd never mastered  DAO at thst point. It was only about shortly after Christmas 2015 that I bought the strategy guides for the games that how to play these games started to click and I found myself thoroughly enjoying now that I understood the mechanics behind them.. Since then like with ME I can barely get enough of the games

I pre-ordered thinking that I would get extra content. All I got were a few garbage weapons that were quickly replaced with better ones. Then BioWare released the "Ultimate" edition with extra content months later. Never pre-ordering again.

All pre-order is good for is making sure you get a copy when released. But this is only good for games that sell out quickly. That will never happen with a Dragon Age game.

I don't know how online purchases work so forgive my ignorance, but is there any benefit to preordering a physical copy than just purchasing and downloading the game on the release date? There's no way to run out of digital copies, and even the physical disks require installation time, so what benefit is there to preordering, other than the small bonus items? TBH I couldn't care less about the bog unicorn and its immersion breaking. How would the leader of the Inquisition be allowed to ride a dead animal possessed by a spirit? That's counterproductive to the image we want to spread.

Yes, I will buy DA4. Bioware makes my favorite games so they are an auto purchase for me. So long as they continue to make single player games with good stories, characters and SJW goodness, I'll happily be a customer.

I prefer physical copies to digital. It's just this odd thing I have. I feel like I'm buying air with digital and that if somehow I don't have the disk as back-up, something might happen that prevents me from getting the game back if I only own it digitally. Like they accidentally delete my account or something. I know, it's weird and paranoid. But that's just how I feel. So the only reason I pre-order, if I will do that, is so I can get the physical copy as fast as I can.

Although, there have been instances where it was in reverse. I pre-ordered DA2 but the company I ordered it from didn't send them out until launch day. So it came too late. Which was very unfortunate since I had the day off on launch day but not the two days after that. And I -didn't- pre-order ME3, however the store I bought it at were already selling them before EU-release.

I would personally rather have a game online if I knew I would play it often, so I don't need to worry about losing the disks or them breaking or taking up space (not that I buy a lot of games anyway). Though if it's a game I know I won't keep or replay, physical copy is better since I can sell it back to Gamestop.

But I have no interest in the trinkets included in collector's editions. Especially after hearing how poorly managed DAI's were, with missing or broken pieces and shoddy craftsmanship and materials. It seems like too much of a gamble rather than waiting for product reviews.

I think my biggest issue is that I don't want to purchase a product whose quality is unknown at time of purchase and hope for the best, if I'm paying at least $60. Why do that and deal with bugs when I can wait until patches come out and the price lowers? Or be really patient and wait for a GotY edition, since that's really the best value.

Even if say that i will pre order it now, what will happen if i would ended up like a casteless dwarf without money or simply without interest in video games anymore?
Everything can happen in these years.

Yeah I originally bought DAI on download befoer later buying a disc copy but that's partly because these games take a while to download and even the |DLC's can take a while to restoer if you need to reinstall everything. Plus in general I like what Bioware has done with these games. Having to download both the game and it's DLC's on my system will I think a lot of the time take a while as I don't have the fastest of connecvtions partly due to where I live I think. So generally with games like ME and DA I suspect I'll always go with disc copies. With games like Fifa because they release yearly I normally go digital because I'd never find the games I really wantto play because I'd be swimming in discs and I have quite a few already

On release day, will be standing outside my local game shop at nine in the morning with a coffee in one hand and a Danish in the other, waiting impatiently for them to roll up the metal blind so I can GET MY GAME. This is what I've done for the previous three releases (plus Awakening!)

This happened to me only for DAA i was looking for the expansion in the morning of it's release  and i didn't found it in the shop, when i was going to return to home it was delivered thus i saw all those copies of DAA and i took one
I think i was  the first one  in the whole city.

I'll buy it, assuming I'm able. There's nothing they could do that would make me not want to buy it. Heck, I don't even know what their Secret IP is about but I'll buy that too. Really hope it's not a racing game.

I won't bother with a pre-order, but I might sit and refresh Origin until the download shows up as available.

I just hope that the secret IP is single player; I worry that it's not as I'm betting on it being a retooling of Shadow Realms which was mp if I remember correctly. I will begrudge everyone a mp only game as I'm selfishly looking forward to yearly releases of sp Bioware games. I really want to see a release schedule that looks like this:

2017 Mass Effect Andromeda
2018 Single Player Secret IP
2019 Dragon Age 4

Eh, from the little we learned about Shadow Realms I would not have bought that. I will definitely wait a while to hear reviews on the new IP before purchasing. Bioware has shown strength in traditional fantasy (BG, DA, NWN, JE) and space opera (KOTOR, ME). Anything other than that is untested new ground for them.
