Unless they show something in the previews that is extremely off-putting or worrying, I'll probably be preordering.
I've yet to be disappointed by a Bioware game, even the very flawed ones, and very few companies provide anything like the Bioware RPG experience.
Buying the next Dragon Age game yes or no.

Yes, I will buy the next DA game.
DA:I does push the boundaries on the type of fantasy I am interested in... but I have found myself replaying DA:I yet again.
Bioware games are the only cRPGs I find myself replaying.

I will buy if DA4 has decent feminine hair options and lets me wear a dress to the Ball if I want to....
But seriously of course I will buy it. I have loved some DA games more than others, but have played the h**l out of them all. Great entertainment value to me!

Nope. Not without a 90%+ score from MetaCritic users after they've cleaned up the user review section.
No preorders, no CEs from BioWare ever again.
I found DA:I a dismal, boring grind. I realise we all perceive gaming experiences differently, so I am not knocking anyone who feels differently, but this is mine.
I also have an issue with the fact that no matter how good Trespasser was, we still paid to get a decent ending. Not entirely OK with that, either, and I am adding it to the DA2 and ME3 game- and user-experiences.
Hope that was an OK answer as to yes/no/why, OP.

I don't think that's what they meant. I think they are upset that you have to pay to get the full main plot of the game, not to mention a proper ending. If Trespasser was a great DLC that wasn't an ending I doubt they'd have mentioned it.

I don't know how online purchases work so forgive my ignorance, but is there any benefit to preordering a physical copy than just purchasing and downloading the game on the release date? There's no way to run out of digital copies, and even the physical disks require installation time, so what benefit is there to preordering, other than the small bonus items? TBH I couldn't care less about the bog unicorn and its immersion breaking. How would the leader of the Inquisition be allowed to ride a dead animal possessed by a spirit? That's counterproductive to the image we want to spread.
Online downloads can be slow, get interrupted, or have other problems, like everyone downloading at once. I remember a lot of people complaining about that back when Inquisition was released, and also for the DLCs.
The physical discs download much faster than through an Internet connection.
No more immersion-breaking than having Andraste's golden boobs hovering over your shoulder. And some Inquisitors might want to project that image. My female Dalish necromancer would have for sure.

How do you implement that? No DLCs which can't be played before the end of the main game?

Pretty much. Most game DLCs take place before the end of a game, or also after if it makes sense. I'm not even necessarily advocating for this, just explaining what I think the other poster meant.

Will I buy it? Unless it is an MMO, almost certainly.
Will I preorder? Depends. If there is a MP 'component' then no, I'll wait to hear about any content gating. If they say "DA:MP didn't really work, so we're shelving MP for DA4 and will revisit later, then...probably still not, but I'd at least consider it. Preordering games strikes me as something do be done by people who are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.
But buying it "at some point" is a near certainty. I've loved two Dragon Age games and very much enjoyed another.

Now what would stop me from buying it? Predefined apperance of character and class? That's unlikely.
Most likely, I have moved on if it takes too long to release. If it takes six years to release, I might have lost interest by then.
It's like ME:A.. I use to love Mass Effect. Gobbled up all the outside media (books, ect) and even liked it after the ME:3 ending. Now, I don't feel as excited about it. I'm sure I'll buy it at some point though. Hopefully, it won't lost that spark.

I have an issue with the fact you had to pay for an ending that made sense.
I also wanted to point out that Trespasser was good - as in credit where it's due, and also to ensure I did point out a part of the game I actually did enjoy
But no matter the quality of the DLC, we still paid for an ending that wasn't all over the place - and this was an ending, not a goodbye like The Citadel was, and for me that adds up to a lot of other things I've not liked about BioWare's output after EA's buyout, so it was worth mentioning in context of why I probably won't be picking up a preorder or CE of DA4, if at all.
Please - again - note I am not attacking anyone who wants to buy DA4, or who liked DAI better than I did, we're all different, and have different likes and dislikes - I stated why I, personally, probably won't, to answer OPs question.

It was devastating for me because I really wanted it. I got deluxe edition preordered though. I will be sad if the CE for DA4 is out of stock before I purchase it but more mentally prepared. Lol.

Bioware isn't as good as they used to be, but DAI was decent enough and I've played it a ton.

IMO, they need to have CEs of games in higher supply. I was riding a wave DA entertainment from all DLCs, games including the game App, novels. I went to order the CE of DA:I and they were out.. I was so disappointed that I didn't purchase the remaining comics. I was basically collecting all the stuff, so the most important items were unavailable was a let down.

There wasn't a "collector's edition" of DAI. There was an Inquisitor's Edition, which sold out within a couple of days of availability. I don't know when you attempted to order it, but those kind of things are always limited supply, regardless of game. What's more, the Iq Edition was a GameStop exclusive release.

Whether I buy the game after release depends on a few things. I very much want a bigger focus on main story line and less on "side activities". I want them to fix the mess that was DA:I's melee combat. And I would greatly prefer a polished product on release since there's no telling whether bugs ever get fixed.
Truth be told, my interest in Thedas and the franchise waned with every game they released, but deep down I still hope they can catch and keep my attention again like their older games did.

No... I'll probably pre-order. I never read reviews. I really don't give a damn what some other person thinks of a game. Most of the time, when I've read reviews after the fact, I find they don't correspond at all to how I felt about it. If I went by those reviews, I would have denied myself a wonderful experience.
This applies to movies/tv as well. The only thing that has any sort of influence on me are the types that say, "If you liked such-and-such, you'll love This New Thing."

They have, for me, the perfect balance between a set PC and a completely customizable PC, set enough to feel involved in the story and setting but customizable enough to make them truly mine and to offer huge replayability.
So unless DA4's announcement includes a fundamental change in gameplay (ex. you have to play a completely set male PC ala Geralt, there are no companions, you and your entire party are Ghasts, etc.) I will be buying. If it does have some fundamental change like that then I'll wait and see how its received.
Ahem, I have the impression that you are talking about Origins. The changes in DAI made DA really different (and maybe too different) from Origins. While the first opus was a PC-centered tactical game with a strong narrative, DAI is aimed at console playing.
DAI surpasses Origins on cinematics and voice over mainly. ![]()
-True there is lots of lore left around to be picked in farming runs, but you can only review it on a codex ( a feature which has not been improved since Origins and which is much inferior to the console codex of ME).
-Mission recaps appear as dry entries in a log. I would love to see mission recaps appearing as real entries in a personal diary, but this is not the case now, and I suspect it will not be (EA may decide to rely on community wiki and fan blogs instead).
-The skills and taskbar system has been considered from the perspective of gamepad entries: the skillbar only offers 7 usable skills at a time. In Origins the skillbar could be wider
-The file management system has also been considered from the perspective of gamepad entries: Saves only appear as timestamped area names. They are also limited in quantity.
My conclusion: I have the sneaky feeling that EA will consider DAI as a console game. Since I am a PC player I don't want to be disappointed, and I won't preorder again.

Well, probably I'm the minority here, but for me buying DA4... it will depend on how the game approaches magic and mages.
If they keep inquistion role of mages, aka being some kind of weak pc damage output/control enemies, I definitely won't buy it. If the mages return as glass cannons AOE/damage dealers, yep, I will totally buy it.

So the problem with Tresapaaer was that it was too good?
No, it is not a problem with Trespasser in itself (I don't know what a Tresapaaer is), The problem is that Bioware made such a lackluster ending for the main game that Trespasser ended up translating as if customers had to pay extra to have the real ending for the main story.
BTW, I loved DA: Origin and DA 2. I pre-ordered both, as I did with DAI but half thru my first (and only) play-through, I found it to be such a huge disappointment, on so many levels and so incredibly boring that is the first game I have ever deleted from my pc before a year had passed since buying it.
Sure, there will be some people pre-ordering the next DA game (if there is one) but the majority of gamers have plenty of sources all around the web for customer reviews of Bioware past 2 games. I'm one of those who will be reading a lot of reviews before I decide if it's worth it to purchase a game from a company like Bioware with a history of creating hype and delivering games like DAI.
