Well, if you liked Edge of Tomorrow, you're a good person in my book too. 

I'm just say that I think you're being too harsh with Bioware. I believe they are talented and try to make the best games they can. But they are neither perfect nor they can translate into their games all their ideas (which is true for 100% of the developers all there). Many of the lmitations Bioware games show that are very talked here (like cloth, animations and hairs) are also present in many other similar games from top tier developers. 

So calling Bioware lazy or purposely untalented because their games is not exactly as one likes it is, as I see it, too aggressive and unpleasant.

Now there's an idea. What if the cloak served a practical purpose, like cloaking the wearer not just in the visible light spectrum but also in further parts of the electromagnetic spectrum, like say infrared. Maybe if you use that ability, you can lose aggro from enemies and get into a better position. Likewise there could be enemies that use it to ambush you, like more skilled Phantoms.

Cloaks are not really a medieval thing, they predates the Roman Empire.
(yes all that fancy Roman capes were actually copycat from the fur cloaks of older Germanic tribes.)

Sure why not if it's done right. Actually from what I've heard, Saren's initial design had him wearing a robe like outfit along with cloaks, which actually looks pretty suave.

 

I actually prefer this to the original final design so I'm all up for it personally. It just depends on whether the developers can pull it off with style.

I don't think it only fits Saren, but the Turians in general! I mean, imagine if Primarch Victus was dressed like that in the Normandy instead of a generic Turian armor?

He's an @$$. It's best to leave him alone. Retorting him like this isn't going to solve anything. He gets off on this crap. But he is correct about one thing. Star wars is sci fantasy. I thought it was sci fi for the longest time but I was wrong.

For my part, cloaks generally aren't worth the resources it takes to program and animate them. Not saying some don't look good, but I would much rather have something like long flowing hair. Game development is largely about prioritizing what you want in the game. Much better hair would be far higher on my list than cloaks.

It doesn't fit the universe.  I can just see somebody hopping off'a ship in a much larger ship, as the ship is powering down.  And getting sucked right through the engine because of the cloak.

It's a blurry line.  If you aren't willing to hire the talent or become skilled in video game design of any one facet (or learn from your mistakes *cough*) then why are you even in this business?  At that point the only thing you probably care about is shoving out a less than stellar product to get money.

 

It's the difference between

Making money to make more video games

and

Making video games to make more money.

 

And how many stellar products have you shipped? What gives you the right to look down on people who have built entire games and say they aren't giving their all just because they neglected a handful of features people on the internet think should have been included?

Not that I don't agree with you, but ME wasn't pure sci-fi from the start, and slowly got worse in each game. 

I'm on the fence on cloaks. I love them, but I'm not sure it fits ME's aestethics.

It's not a big deal though, if my worst complaint about Andromeda will be about cloaks I'll be an happy man.
