I have never made Cole a spirit, always human and I was wondering what the outcome is if you make him a spirit - especially in terms of Trespasser.
Is he happier as a spirit or as a human?

I've only made him more human but I think he's very happy when made more human, esp since his relationship with the bard allows him to help even more people in new ways.
I guess that doesn't help you though, because I can't tell you about him being make more spirit.
Cole is happy either way. He still helps people, and that's what he cares about most.
However, if you save the Chargers and make Cole more of a spirit, Krem gets together with Merryden. Since I like Krem and want him to be happy, I generally prefer that to all other outcomes, since neither one negatively affects Cole in the long run.
OK - I think I will try having him as a Spirit - It just that I hate pleasing Solas ![]()
I've done both, and Agree that he is equally happy either way, so it is just which you like better.
However, DA4 may prove that things are different......
Both choices make him happy. But making him human comes with its own challenges and lasting problems that just comes with being a person--new feelings, no ways of looking at the world, etc. He is happy, but he has new challenges to go with it.
The spirit route however, seems to have the most lasting and immediate happiness because of the comparitive similpicity that comes with being a spirit. With the lack of complexity to his state of being, it seems Cole exceedingly relieved/happy when he is reaffirmed as being a Spirit of Compassion.
But in the end, it really depends on what you value. Neither choice is bad.

Eh, I'd be really surprised if Cole, or most anyone from the previous games, is in DA4. The only people who have a high probability are Dorian and possibly Solas, and even that depends on how they play it out. They could possibly draw out the Solas thing for a whole game, leaving it to be resolved in DA5. The ending of Trespasser really seemed to suggest that they were using the next game as an excuse to start fresh: new locations, new people, new problems.
