DAIMP as a MOBA?

Is there any reason why this game never added a MOBA mode?  Everything seems to be available to facilitate it:

1) increase the players from 4 to maybe 8 or 10, and create two teams (Inquisition vs. Red Templars)

2) Create your standard MOBA maps with 3 lanes, turret structures at mid way points and spawn npcs on each side to attack the other base

3) top and bottom wilderness areas

4) home bases to spawn and a control structure to destroy

5) Shops to get items and access to the skill meny to train skills

It's all pretty recipe :  https://en.wikipedia...ne_battle_arena

Would love to see something like this breathing new life into DAI.

The closest thing we can hope for now is the Paragon game Epic is working on .. but I am very surprised this was never implemented in DAIMP...

Will never going to work because most players will just get trashed by those promotion lords. Just imagine someone rush through all the turrets and 1 hit killed everyone on your team at lv1. Doesn't sound like a very noob friendly game does it?

promotions wouldnt be used.  remember moba/arts like LoL/Dota2 etc are about everyone starting off at equal footing and leveling up multiple times during the match.

Promotions are part of the standard multiplayer, which is cooperative .. moba/arts would be pvp so different rules.

Even if promotions were disabled, there'd still be the issue of people whining about x class, x skill, x item and the resources given to MP aren't what I'd call generous. It's an afterthought, if anything, and co-op vs. AI reflects single player, as a tacked-on MP should. Hopefully no clueless suit will try pushing PvP for a future title, because I guarantee they'd want to do it without any additional spending.

There's a reason people play DAMP, and "because I like MOBAs" doesn't feature. Insert footnote about opinions.

well it would make those promotion stats irrelevant since pvp would require even footing, so I can see why you might think that way.

The thing about moba/arts is unlike the canned missions in daimp now, having human opponents would add a lot of replay value since each fight would be based on how the living players on the other end played.

Moba for DAI could become an esport fairly easily I think, with ladders and prize pools and opportunities for EA/Bioware to monetize things like weapon/armor skins etc so people can customize how they look.

class balance issues

Since I am not proposing we change the existing PvE Co-op, or use the existing promotion system this would be a clean slate for all the required changes.

point in case - a moba mode for dai would not affect all the work and things people enjoy about DAIMP today.

Agree with you 100% on this, I stopped playing pvp years back because, even with all the class balance, keeping everyone on even footing & so forth, pvp rewards those that spend 15+ hours a day playing the game & people learn it & dominate all other players no matter what*. I know the same can be said for DAIMP with promotion Lords dominating a match over lesser promoted players, but that is why DAIMP has different difficulty settings.

Just my opinion.

* Just started getting back into pvp in Dark souls 3 & even with the balances going on there, the game still rewards those that have mastered the parry & dodge I-frames over those (like me) that haven't.

Most of MOBA games have ranked matchmaking system actually. I think DAMP needs something like Greater Rifts from Diablo III...

So the issue is not with PvP, its a fear of a bad ranking system pitting you against people who have invest more time in getting good at the game?

Right now we have absurd difficulty modes in DAIMP combined with huge armies of fodder enemies to compensate for what is ultimately 'the extent of DAI AI'.  I mean let me tell you how fun it is to get 1 or 2 shot by some random archer on heartbreaker, yet this game mode exists...  In ranked mobas if I am getting smashed that quickly by my opponents i quickly start being separated from them since their rank goes up and mine stays the same or goes down.

Absurd difficulty modes? .... You know Wavebend and Co did Heartbreaker at 30/30/30.... I think roughly those stats

So let's add PvP cause you suck at PvE?

No. Sorry.

So you are assuming that I "suck at PVE" because of the FACT that getting 1/2 shot in heart breaker is easy and quite simply illustrates a synthetic difficulty added to the game to compensate for difficulty given that the current game AI only goes so far.

The attempt at a personal attack is pretty feeble, as has been your reasoning why a new game mode based on a popular format wouldn't work in DAI.

Anyhow your insecurity is duly noted, thank you drive through.

You're wrong or supremely optimistic. That type of game mode would severely wreck the PvE.

PvP destroys games of this type. You'll have to look elsewhere.

Based on what? other than 'dem feels' which seems to be the only thing being cited in this thread I haven't seen a substantive argument.

No Money.

No Developers.

No Support.

If by some miracle money was made available in the future I would rather it went into PvE under Luke's guidance. Sadly that will never happen.

There are mods if you play on PC if you know who to ask.

The substance is there. MOBA/PvP questions aren't new to this forum, but the answer always boils down to resources and player preferences. Those interested in PvE won't generally be as interested in PvP, and you'd end up with two player bases. Why create a rift like that instead of building on what attracted people to the game in the first place? It's a regular mistake in game development.

And besides all that, what about a DAMP MOBA would make people want to play it instead of one with dedicated development and support?

Hmm... I'm not sure everyone would like the idea of a promotion free environment, when they spent 2000 hours in grinding those promotes.

Besides, I think a lot of people would actually start to struggle with DAMP when that 85% damage resistance got stripped off and they stop critting every single hit.

I don't see the desire for PvP honestly.  Never have.

And, as with all threads suggesting major changes that would 'fix' DAIMP, it might help if you repeat the following prayer or philosophy when it comes to this game, where support has officially ended.

Grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

You will enjoy the game more if you do that, trust me.
